If you're considering Mission Plumbing for a major plumbing project, my advice is simple: don't expect communication, scheduling, or project management to be their strong suit. Our project involved replacing deteriorated cast iron drain piping beneath our kitchen and basement. The plumbing work appears to have been completed correctly, but getting there was one of the most frustrating contractor experiences we've had. The problems started on day one. I took a day off work because our project was scheduled to begin that morning. Instead, we were told the necessary equipment wasn't available, so the work had to be postponed. While disappointing, I understood that things happen and agreed to reschedule. Unfortunately, that set the tone for the rest of the project. Appointments were repeatedly delayed or rescheduled. Crews arrived hours after their scheduled arrival window without anyone calling to let us know. Several times we had to contact Mission ourselves just to find out if anyone was actually coming. We received different explanations from different people, and there never seemed to be clear communication between the office, management, and the field crews. The estimate created another major source of frustration. The original proposal left us with a different understanding of what work would actually be performed. Once excavation began, additional problems were discovered, and we completely understood that additional work and additional cost might be necessary. That wasn't our concern. Our concern was that the revised estimate was so vague that we still couldn't get a clear explanation of exactly what work we were paying for. When you're approving thousands of dollars in additional work, the scope should be clearly documented and easy to understand. Throughout the project, it felt like we were managing the job instead of the company. My husband and I found ourselves coordinating between the office, management, and the field crew just to understand the schedule, clarify the scope of work, and keep the project moving. That should never be the customer's responsibility. The repeated scheduling issues also caused significant disruption to our daily lives. We repeatedly adjusted our schedules and prepared our home for crews that either arrived hours late or didn't arrive when expected. The uncertainty made an already stressful plumbing project much more frustrating than it needed to be. To the company's credit, management eventually became involved, apologized for the experience, and made a significant adjustment to our final bill after determining that part of the originally proposed work was no longer necessary. We appreciated that because it was the right thing to do. I also want to point out that every employee who came to our home was courteous and respectful. My criticism is not directed at the technicians themselves. It is directed at the company's communication, scheduling, estimating process, and project management. No customer should have to repeatedly call to find out where the crew is, receive conflicting information from different employees, or involve multiple people just to get a project completed. The plumbing work appears to have been completed correctly, and the efforts made at the end of the project to resolve our concerns are the reason this is a three-star review instead of two. Mission Plumbing has good employees. The company simply needs better communication, better scheduling, clearer estimates, and better coordination. If those areas improve, I believe the overall customer experience would improve dramatically. read more

Don't use Mission Plumbing and HVAC: Have had 4 techs come in the last two weeks from Mission after the system de-iced and started cooling again. Today was another occasion and after 3 1/2 hours I called Mission to verify they were coming and they said "45 min". In the meantime I called Anthony Plumbing and HVAC and they showed up shortly thereafter. I know HVAC from my father and am an engineering graduate. The previous 4 times with technicians from Mission Plumbing and HVAC Put refrigerant gauges on the system, took the reading and said "good to go". No actions actually performed. I bought the monthly service plan even though I Couldn't be more disappointed with the tech's knowledge and skill. A gentleman from Anthony showed up and took the time to understand the issues and actually fix the problem by doing this: There are issues before the unit freezing up initially I suspected a blower intermittent failure, but then after kicking it on and checking everything else downstairs with the furnace noticed that the stage 2Y2 was not hooked up for the cooling side, as there is only a single stage AC outside, but the wires were not transversed for high Cool for the low stage due to it being only a single stage. It should've been swapped during the install. It was not. I was able to switch the wires on the board so high Cool is engaging as soon as AC starts and pressures and temperatures look great we are nowhere near freezing vapor saturation is sitting right between 45 and 46 because it is warm in the home temp drop is sitting between 18° 17°. It should be more down to 15 to 16 but it's because it is warmer in the home. We're gonna have a little bit higher temp drop airflow is good static pressures within 5.5 inches of static column inches of water column static airflow is doing very good filters. Good dampers are open shutting basement dampers to push more air upstairs. Refrigerant pressure is outside are looking good. Everything is dead on at this time. read more

I called for the $20. AC tuneup. 2 men, 2 vehicles showed up. Strange, one was an estimator. Found lot's of faults with the furnace. Outside, the tech told me the connections were stripped so he couldn't measure freon content. TWICE. They urged immediate replacement of both units as well as the hot water heater. After they left, I had no freon in my system that was working when they arrived. I had a 2nd opinion provider visit that conferred no freon and showed me the connections were perfect. Mission lied to my face TWICE! I will never use Mission again. They had a great reputation until a conglomerate bought them out. I wish I could give them a zero rating. read more

Tried contacting Mission to talk with someone, but NO one would return my call/messages. I have done previous business with Mission...had whole home HVAC system replaced by them. Be very cautious with Mission Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. My neighbor recently had Mission out for a service call; the problem was with the control board in the air handling unit. The tech had to leave to get a board, but was back within a half-hour and spent a little over two hours total, including the time to get a new board. The board was under warranty, so there was no cost for the board. He was charged $1,063.48, but given a 10% "over 65" discount, so total charge was $957.13, which works out to somewhere between, $320 and $479 an hour. The technician also said that he was lucky that the board was under warranty, otherwise it would have cost and additional $1,000 for the board (this was also verified by the service manager at Mission). We got the model number of the board, searched for it on the Internet, and found it on the manufacturer's website (Goodman) for less than $100. We contacted Mission to discuss with the general manager twice; he never returned our calls. We then visited Mission in person to visit with him, but he "was in a meeting", so we were directed to Gabe, who confirmed the charges above. When asked about the pricing for the board, we were told that it is not generated locally, but by Southern. Mission was purchased in April 2021 by Southern Home Services of Maitland, Florida, which owns 26 PHVAC companies primarily along the southeast coast of the United States. Southern is, in turn, owned by Gryphon Investors, a private equity company. So not only does Mission need to cover their overhead locally, they most likely need to also provide funding for Southern, who in turn possibly has to return cash to Gryphon. It all flows uphill. Southern also owns C. M. Mose, another local PHVAC contractor in the Kansas City area. Moral of the story: Mission may have been a good company at one time when it was locally owned, but it has changed. Get pricing up front. Question the technician. If you don't like what you're hearing, go somewhere else, and don't hesitate to go with a mom and pop; quite possibly they can do the job just as well for quite a bit less money. They don't have the overhead that the big guys do (especially if owned by private equity). read more

We have a less than year old HVAC unit that failed today, but we were told we were in the club and would have someone out between 11-2. They ended up prioritizing us to the end of the day (we were under warranty, so not revenue producing), and they showed up at the end of the day without a crew that could fix the issue. So a hotel room, dogsitting for 2 days, and another day off work for a $12k system purchased in October. At the time I wondered why their competition stresses that they used employees over contractors, I now know why, as I had to call out another crew to compete the install for to multiple issues. This company used to be good; however, it has become one of the most careless in customer support. Last year, on two different appointments, they failed to show up. I paid for a maintenance agreement, and they came out twice for the yearly heating inspection. I told the scheduler that all I needed was the spring air conditioner tune-up. She said that she would put a note on the file. The tech arrived and said it was too early for the air conditioner tune-up. They used both maintenance visits for heating, and then they had to call me in the fall to remind me it was time to renew my maintenance agreement. I sent them a letter about what happened, and they elected not to address my concern. They overcharge for services and consistently don't show up on time. I am through with this phenomenally horrible customer service. read more

Not only that but it started leaking all over the concrete. Called the office to see if I could get someone else out to make sure he didn't do more damage. The front desk girl told me that the tech got fired. she was to get a new appt scheduled and said she would call back. never did. Called the next day spoke w/ the customer service supervisor who scheduled someone for that day and hung up and got a text saying my appt. was cancelled. After several calls back to the girl and trying to get hold of a supervisor, no one and I mean no one called me back. I note that other reviewers cite Mission's high pricing. I concur, and was astounded when they presented a bill for $470 to replace a $12 toilet float. I was even more flabbergasted when they tried to sell me a new garbage disposal and catch basket for over $1000! That's just for the hardware, which is readily available on Amazon for about $125. In addition to this insulting behavior ('you're not smart enough to realize we're ripping you off"), their business practices are suspect; their tech tried to sell me this disposal and install, but refused to say that the existing one (about two years old and working fine) was defective, just that it 'would be a good idea' to replace it because it was manufactured in 2022!. Just learned that they've been acquired, and that these offensive business practices began after acquisition. I'll be canceling my service contract with these guys ASAP. read more

I had a leaking pressure relief value on my hot water heater that Mission had replaced only a couple of months prior. When they came out tried to say it wasn't the value but the expansion tank on the hot water heater and wanted $700 to replace it. Mission PHC is a hidden gem every small town/big city should have! They are responsive, reliable, friendly, thorough, and most of all GET THE JOB DONE! The first time I had them come out to fix a valve in one of our guest bathrooms, took less than 30 minutes and the gentleman who took care of this task was all of the above! The second time it took a team because we were having a gas line inserted because I just can't go back to electric ovens anymore. This took around 3-4 hours, to my surprise there was minimal damage to the ceilings and floors. Plus the new oven hooked up like a charm. The third time their team was dispatched to our home it was to check the water pressure in our main bathroom and the fireplace. I trusted this company. Had several dealings with them and they seemed great. Called them up to have my main entrance water valve replaced as it is the not shutting off completely. The man told me $1100, with "whew" before the quote. Since I trusted them, I agreed. Concerned about the cost, I asked why it cost so much. He said he just quotes what he is told and had no explaination. After completion, I looked at the job. There was one simple looking valve with connection to the existing plumbing, done in less than 2 hours. So I checked on line and the general concensus was between 300 and 600 dollars to do the job. I contacted a well known plumbing company and discussed the cost, and he said somewhere between high 300s and just less than 6oo. So, I knew I had been, I'll say, misquoted. When Mission sent me a rating request, I hit the not smiley face, and it immediately came up with call the 6506 number so "we can make this right". So I did, and did so twice, both times being told that the owners would contact me soon. I also left a request to talk using the "contact us" on their website. I've now waited 2 weeks, and crickets. Very dissapointed and will not use them again because trust is everything to me. read more

I usually use another company for all my home needs but I decided to see what they would say about a recent home repair. I was able to easily set up an appointment online within a time frame that would work for me. They called prior to the technician coming out. The technician was professional and friendly and I feel like the quote they gave me was reasonable compared to other companies. They do charge a $49 service fee normally but that's relatively lower compared to other companies. The technician waived the service fee which was extremely nice and not expected. I did end up going with the company I normally use but only because they quoted me a lower price for the same thing but I would consider using Mission in the future if needed. read more

Absolutely the worst company I've ever worked with. To say it blatantly they ghosted me. The lack of transparency is mind blowing, and their customer service is very poor. When I asked for an answer to why they haven't called back for a month is "I don't know." The operators always say they will have a manager call back, but they never do. They drag on a project for weeks without any communication. And the reason to why they haven't finished changes several times. First they say it's because they are waiting for the city to oversee, then it's because they are waiting for parts, then now they are saying they don't need any of those. I've called them for two weeks everyday and get absolutely no answer to when they are going to finish the project. The neighbors have started complaining to the city because the sewage pipe is uncovered and is hazardous for anyone to trip and fall, let alone freeze. Also with another project I was quoted from Mission Plumbing the double the amount when I called another company which they fixed it for half the price because they found out they didn't need to replace the whole garbage disposal, just needed to tighten a screw. On June 22nd, Mission Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling sent a technician to diagnose my HVAC system - the AC had not been working for a few days at that point. Since then, they have not called, messaged, or emailed me a single time. I have called 4 times, each time they have said, "I will make sure someone gets back to you right away". My house has been without AC for 17 days due to their lies stringing me along. I have been paying $14/mo for a service agreement since December 2021, and never had any issues with Ultra Heating and Cooling fulfilling their contractual obligations. However, it is clear that Mission PHC has taken on all Ultra customers with their acquisition, and are continuing to take their money every month with no intentions of honoring the service agreement. To all legacy Ultra customers, I would recommend cancelling your service agreement immediately and finding a new, trustworthy HVAC company before any issues come up with your HVAC systems. read more

On Saturday, 8/9, our one-year-old air conditioning unit broke down. We called Mission Plumbing, Heating and Cooling for a service call. To their credit, a technician (Michael) did arrive late that evening around 11 p.m. He diagnosed the issue as needing two parts: a blower and a blower module. Unfortunately, he did not have the parts on hand and said he would check the warehouse Monday. By Sunday, with no solution in sight, I had to spend $150 on fans just to make the house bearable. The weather was mild, but the house was still uncomfortably warm. On Monday (8/10), Michael confirmed the parts were not in stock and had to be ordered. We were told by both Amanda and Ann that the parts were being "expedited" and would arrive by Tuesday (8/11) at 2 p.m. Ann even assured me, "I will move Heaven and Earth to get your A/C fixed." Tuesday came, and at 1:30 p.m. Amanda texted saying the part had not arrived and likely would not arrive that day. We asked for a tracking number to check ourselves--none existed. To "help," Mission sent a technician with one portable A/C unit (even though they promised two). The installation was sloppy--the hose fell off after he left, and hot air poured in because the window wasn't sealed properly. The unit was useless where they placed it, so my husband and I moved it ourselves to at least have one semi-cool room. By Wednesday (8/12), we still had no answers on the parts and still no second portable unit. Amanda admitted she had no idea where the parts were or when they'd arrive. Eventually, a second unit was installed in our kitchen, which only managed to get our main rooms down to 80 degrees--not comfortable, but better than nothing. Throughout the week, we repeatedly asked for part numbers so we could check availability with another company. Mission refused, instead telling us we were welcome to call someone else if we wanted. On Thursday (8/13), frustrated with the endless delays, lack of communication, and conflicting stories from Amanda, Ann, and Gabe (the HVAC manager), we called a different HVAC company. For just $49, they inspected our unit, located the parts within 12 hours, and quoted us $440 for installation. This was the downside since we had a parts/labor warranty with Mission. We gave Mission one last chance for an update. Once again, they refused to guarantee when (or even if) the parts would arrive. With extreme heat on the way, we couldn't wait any longer. The second company installed the parts the same day, and within two hours our home finally cooled down. Ironically, just four hours later, Mission's parts "magically" showed up--far too late. In the end, while the parts were under warranty, this fiasco cost us nearly $1,000 (fans, extra A/C units, and service fees). Worse than the money, Mission's complete lack of accountability, transparency, and care left us feeling abandoned in an unhealthy living situation. Their staff continually gave misinformation, refused to provide tracking information, and showed no urgency to resolve the issue. We will NEVER use Mission again, and strongly caution others: don't take their promises at face value. Dig deeper before trusting this company with your HVAC needs. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Mission PHC - Southern HVAC doesn't have the same ethics, customer service or technician competency that Mission had before being acquired by Southern Home Services. I've been a customer of Mission for 30+ years and have been noticing a steady decline in their service over the past few years, but gave them the benefit of the doubt until recently. They've turned all of their techs (even the ones that graduated HVAC school a few months ago) into salespeople with little to no training on the products they're pushing and in many instances are using trickery and pressure tactics to make sales. I bought a new Amana Furnace and Air Conditioner from Mission in July 2025 after my 15 year old Trane died - it worked great for 1 week and then the AC stopped. Mission spent the next 2 weeks trying to figure out why the AC wouldn't turn on and when they ran out of ideas they replaced the furnace twice in hopes that would fix the problem - all of this was going on when it was 90-100 degrees out. Ultimately the problem turned out to be a sensor and had nothing to do with the furnace, but none of the techs understood Amana's new refrigerant system and associated controls well enough to properly diagnose the problem. Once they replaced the sensor everything started working, but by then they've made so many changes, including installing a cheaper and slightly smaller furnace than I paid for that the furnace isn't mounted correctly and has large gaps between the furnace and supply plenum. Instead of re-mounting the furnace properly and then re-connecting cleanly to the duck-work, their solution was to use multiple rolls of foil tape to cover the gaps (the gaps are so big I can stick my finger through). When I questioned the gaps and longevity of tape they accused me of being hostile and refused to acknowledge that they did anything wrong and left abruptly (they even left a big mess, loose screws on the floor, and a portable AC they brought after I complained that my house was 92 degrees). It's now October and I'm still waiting for them to finish the work and to send me the refund they owe me. They promised me they would refund the cost difference between the furnace I paid for and what they ended up installing, but every time I ask about the refund I get the run around. I still have no idea what they installed since they left no paperwork of any kind - no manuals, no bills of material, nothing. I've called them multiple times and every time they apologize for my experience and promise someone will call me back the same day, and 100% of the time they fail to call. Mission PHC - Southern HVAC is not a reputable company and they're absolutely not the Mission Plumbing Heating and Cooling that we've all known for 40 years. RIP Mission. read more

I was afraid to try a heating and cooling company on my 4 yr old furnace but when the temperature reached sub zero temperatures I had to have someone come out because I knew something was working. First, I was impressed I called on a Friday and they came out on Saturday morning. The technician was punctual and very professional he educated me on a few things I didn't know. He immediately resolved the issue and tuned a few other things up for me I must say it was the best $49 I have ever spent. Trusted this company for a new furnace and air conditioner back in 2019. They sold us a brand that we now know is not a good brand. They installed it without the unit getting enough intake air. Was impressed with Mission Plumbing Heating & Cooling's service. Our water heater went out after the holiday weekend and needed a company that could provide a new one and install it. They responded within 12hrs of our request and had a team come out with a new water heater. Installation took about 2-3hrs and they hauled away the old water heater (included with their installation services). What sets Mission Plumbing Heating & Cooling above other contractors that I have had come to my house is their respect for your home. They made sure to wear booties (gloves for their shoes) without us having to tell them. In addition, they laid out blankets over our carpet/flooring so they did not mess up our flooring. After they installed the water heater and hauled away the old one, I didn't see a mess in the maintenance room; their team did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. One reason why they did not receive a perfect star from me was because of their relatively high cost. Compared to another company that provided us with a quote, they were nearly double the cost. However, I will say that the great service made up for the high cost a bit. They also installed a Bradford White branded water heater, which you can only buy through retailers. I will definitely keep Mission Plumbing, Heating & Cooling in mind the next time something in my house decides to crap out on me :) read more

Oh the joys of homeownership...it's never fun when the water heater goes out and you run out of hot water. Luckily, Mission Plumbing came to the rescue and they were able to come out the SAME DAY (literally a few hours after I called them) to take out our old water heater and replace with a new one! First of all, I appreciate that the people that came and installed it put out blankets on our rug and wore shoe booties to keep our house clean. They were very tidy with their tools and parts! It's always a headache to clean up after people that work on your house, so it was a pleasant surprise that they kept everything clean. Mission also gave us a great deal on a new 50 gallon gas water heater (Bradford White) + installation + delivery + and hauling off our old water heater for only $2250 (after their $250 coupon on their website). Great deal for such a great brand and amazing service. Also shout out to Hannah, who is the call operator/scheduler for them, who took her time and answered all my questions and made sure everything went well! Thanks Mission Plumbing! Tried to sell me a whole new ac unit when one was not necessary. Tech misdiagnosed initially. Told him I wanted a repair and they sent a sales guy to try and sell me a new unit the next day. It was 100* & told me 2 weeks to get a part that another company got the next day. Tried to charge me $1600 for a repair that another company charged me $875 for. Got an estimate from Mission Plumbing for 1 days work and 1 plumber to run approximately 25 -30 foot of gas line in an unfinished area of my home. Estimate was just under $10,000 for 1days work. I am a women and believe the estimate was based more on my gender and what the plumber thought I could afford than the actual work to be done. I am totally offended by their estimate as it is more than double of other estimates received. I questioned the man giving the estimate as to how much per hour he gets paid and his response was "not nearly enough." So I then asked if he got paid $10,000 per day? No response. I do not give a lot of reviews, but this one is necessary. I called MISSION PLUMBING & HVAC to get a water heater installed and also auger a drain clog. Upon arrival, I was given a quote of $2500 for the 2 projects. I already had the water heater so it was just for labor on that project. The plumber that came out said $2100 of that was for installing the water heater and $400 was for the drain clog. I thought the labor for water heater install was very high, so I agreed to let them use auger machine on drain for $400. The employee proceeded to break the pipe coming out of wall while attempting to clear drain. He stopped after breaking our pipe and stated that the new price would be $1200 to clear the drain and now replace the pipe. I said that was unacceptable. He then charged us $288 for the drain work. So we got nothing accomplished or fixed, was charged $288, and was left worse off than before calling MISSION PLUMBING & HVAC. I then called the manager Adam to voice my complaints. He said they would refund the $288. Well, weeks later and still no refund. In the meantime, a person named Rick texted me to see if we wanted MISSION PLUMBING & HVAC to do the 2 projects. The quote is now $3300 for the 2 items. I said no. We did get the water heater installed by a different company and their charge was only $750 compared to $2100 from Mission Plumbing. So if you like VERY high prices and INCOMPETENCE, then you should love this place. I however do not. Thanks for nothing MISSION PLUMBING & HVAC. read more
