I got my nails done here on Friday for the first time. My nails were done by Hannah. She was very sweet. She did a great job executing the top part of my nails and shortening them as I requested as I am starting a pottery class I need them short for. My issue is the fact that the thumbs and pointer fingers were not executed well in terms of the refill. I left the salon and noticed giant gaps on my thumbs. These photos were taken less than 24 hours after getting my nails done and it looks like my thumbs have been grown out for over 1 week. I have been getting my nails done for years and they do not grow this fast and I have never had them look like this immediately after leaving a Salon. They were asking me to pay $25 to get the refill fixed and repolished. The only thing they are offering to do for free is to touch up the gel. So I was stuck with heavily grown out acrylic that will be masked by gel. I was speaking with Than over the past 2 days and I became more and more upset with my interaction with them. They were unwilling to offer me any better option to fix my thumbs and pointer fingers even though this was an error of their employee. In my one email I used the word "crappy" to describe the work done on my nails and then they refused me service altogether. I paid $60 for these nails that look grown out 1+ weeks and I have only had them for 3 days. These likely won't last for another week and I feel insanely ripped off. I am shocked by this and this is truly the worst experience I've had at a Richmond nail Salon yet. In response to owners response (on Google) These are nails that I wanted done for my anniversary and I am upset they look the way they do after just 3 days. The polish is not the concern so that was not a real solution. The solution offered to me was offensive as I was requested to pay 50% the cost of a 10 finger refill to fix 4 fingers when this was not done properly the first time by an employee of yours. I agreed in email that the other fingers seemed to have grown naturally but I provided photos from Saturday showing the giant gap on my thumbs. That was taken less than 24 hours later. I did not say something at the salon because I did not notice it until I got outside, nor was I asked if I liked them. I had dinner plans to get to so I could not spend more time there. I find it completely unnecessary to decline services to me for using the word "crappy". It seems to me based off of prior reviews that your business does not fix mistakes that you make. read more

I have been to this location twice, and have been serviced by the same person - leaving both times highly disappointed. This time (tonight) however, was the the worst. I'm going to leave a long review, but if you want a short version - do not come here. If you do come, DO NOT have the male nail technician do anything! He is rough, rushes through the service and is UNSANITARY. First visit: I asked for a full set, short, square with a simple design. The design was horrible (I didn't even take pics bc I was so embarrassed by it.) The nails were very thick, and were crooked. Second visit (WORST): I asked to soak off the acrylic set from the last visit and just give me a gel manicure. First off - everything that this male technician does is half-assed, rushed and unsanitary. He goes to soak off the acrylic and picks up another acrylic nail to try to shove btw my nail and the acrylic to pry them off!! I quickly told him NO and that it hurts and is TERRIBLE for your real nails. It's dangerous! He then proceeded to file down the acrylic so far down that it burned my real nails. I have 3-4 nails that have visible red burns on them where he filed it down that far. I kept telling him that it hurts. You're getting too close. We get to the gel manicure and he pulls out a manicure tool set from a drawer. Normally you'd see them sealed in a pocket of sorts from being sanitized. He pulled the tools out and the pocket was ALREADY OPENED! Those tools were NOT sanitized. At this point, I almost got up and left but I am under a time crunch to get these nails done, so I stayed to let him finish. Overall, I was highly disappointed with this place - more specifically with the male nail technician. I know he knows better than that. I was in a pinch before a wedding I was in town for and chose this place after reading some reviews. It was just ok. My pedicure took less than 30 minutes but did look nice. I also got a gel manicure. While filing off my previous get mani, I was scraped by the file and was bleed..which was annoying. My eyebrow wax was really good though. Very nice nail place! Other yelp reviewers had a totally different experience than I did. The place is VERY clean! I didn't see a nail filing residue, tip, or dirty tool anywhere! And I really looked after seeing the previous reviews. They line the pedicure tubs with plastic, use clean gloves, and appear to be cleaning quite thoroughly between customers. They did seem to have an issue or two with customer appointments not making it on the books and/or some confusion as to who was completing an appointment, so I can see what some other reviews were saying with that potentially being a growth opportunity for the staff. My nail tech was very nice and chatted with me throughout the appointment. I enjoy the opportunity to get to know the nail techs. They have a variety of options of services, including multiple for men. The cost is slightly more than a typical salon, but it's a cleaner place than most, so I'll gladly pay it. First time visit an customer. Customer service was phenomenal and very personable. I got the Signature pedicure & gel manicure and brow waxed. Tony did my manicure an get was gentle, had good conversation and wasn't talking to other folks in their language. Tatiana did my pedicure and brow, she made sure my water temp was hot to my liking. I wasn't sure about my flavor for the signature but she gave a recommendation that's important to me. She massage my feet and leg with care very detailed. As I thanked her for really getting my cuticles she was like I'm trying he a professional (too funny) and she very professional. The lady beside had a customer she was very helpful to her as well and she smiled. I'm a very particular person when it comes to customer service and spending my money for a service. This will definitely be a place I return to for treatment. They don't rush, attention to detail and very personal in their touch. People who supposedly can do the good work are sitting on their phones the entire time & pass the work to the not so good ones when it's slow. Had an awesome pedicure no complaints, excellent job excellent French. My fill is another story. It was lumpy when he put it on but I trust the process & towards the end it wasn't as noticeable to the regular person but I get my nails done all the time. It was lumpy & not right. I let that pass for the time being, my mistake. I showed him a picture at the very beginning like I always do. Most people who cannot do it don't attempt, they call someone saying hey I have a design I need you to do later. No didn't happen. I'm trusting the process...... I wanted heart cherries & it wasn't anything like the picture. It looked like my niece was doing my nails. I told them I didn't want it at all because it was frustrating. We were all looking at the same picture, I cannot be the only one who sees how terrible it is. I tell them to take it off. The lady who was on her phone trying to fix said I had to pay for the fill but she was willing to fix it (someone just hopped in her chair). So now I have no wait for her after I've already been here an hour with him messing up my nails. I live two hours away & do not have time. I had time for a fill done correctly & a pedicure. I was in town visiting family and desperately needed a manicure. Stopped in for a gel manicure without an appointment and waited about 5 minutes- no problem there. The low rating comes from AFTER the service. About 24 hours after I left the salon, my nails started to turn yellow! The polish I chose was a pink/purple (you can see what it should look like towards the tips of my nails). It's clearly a product they use that turns yellow once exposed to sunlight. They should be more aware of the products they are using as now my nails just look funky and off color. If I was still in town I would go back and ask for it to be fixed but unfortunately I live out of state. Overall- it was very clean, everyone was very accommodating and friendly. I have had many pedis over the last 25 years. We were visiting in Richmond and I searched several salons in the Short Pump area for a Weekend pedi for myself and my husband. Even he thought the pedis were just ok. When a pedi takes less than 30 minutes, you know something is inferior. Callus and dead skin removal dud not get it all, i asked fir my nails to really be cut down twice, and she left them longer. What a very odd and unsettling regular manicure experience, first time at salon, which has generated my very first negative review. How frustrating to have an appointment; arriving a couple minutes before time only to find there is no designated technician for my appointment. It was everyone for themselves and let's make as much money as we can. Screw appointments. So a male technician asked what services I wanted and asked me to pick out my color. Then the race was on. He removed the gel on my nails with the electric, circular file all the way down to and including the actual nail. Sadly my nails are now paper thin. My guess is so that time wasn't "wasted" wrapping my nails with polish remover. Then cutting and filing was quick, quick, quick. Cuticles were pushed back after soaking and hardened pieces of skin at top of nails was to be clipped with nippers. Time was of the essence apparently as I feel those hardened pieces right now. I was instructed to wash hands and then directed to go back for an upper lip waxing. (That process was done very methodically. Thank you) When I returned to my chair, my technician was starting on another client. What??? As I sat down, my technician stayed with the other client and the woman who waxed my lip was instructed to put my polish on. Based on the job done, I'm not certain polishing was in her wheelhouse. There was no drying time between coats which made the layers all become one and when finished created a "very thick layer" which needed to dry all of the way through. I was initially given a double fan at my chair to help dry my nails; only one of the blades operated with a tiny amount of air. After advising my first technician, I was given a duel bladed fan which operated properly. I sat for about 20 minutes trying hard to get my nails to dry. This was such a lousy manicure for so many reasons with zero relaxation. Never again. read more

So I was coming to Tony now 3 times and i loved his work however I travel a lot and today he said after fixing my nails 3 times now he wasn't doing it again .. rude as he could be . I went in for a full set of gel manicure and while the person did an alright job, he was 30 minutes late to the appointment and smelled of straight cigarette smoke. Not to mention one of the nails popped off the next day and I had to go buy nail glue to put it back on. He also ended up putting the gel on in a narrow form, not fitting my nail and worst of all I ended up paying $65 dollars for it because I was charged for polish $75 with tip. I didn't say anything (I wish I had) but I was already tired of being there longer than I had to. I definitely would not recommend and I will NEVER be going there again. read more

I had been searching for a local salon that uses the CND Shellac system as I was curious about its performance (I've had other gel manicures in the past.) With businesses just beginning to reopen after the pandemic shutdown, Tony was very thorough in setting up my appointment and establishing my expectations for the visit. I was reminded to wear a mask and to be prepared to wash my hands prior to beginning services. Upon arrival and after checking in on their digital system, my temperature was checked and I was asked to wash my hands. The care and effort the staff has made to protect their own health and safety as well as that of their clients in the face of this Coronavirus pandemic is very evident and greatly appreciated. I felt completely at ease on my first visit to any sort of personal service away from "sheltering in place". I had requested a Shellac mani and basic regular polish pedi and left extremely pleased and refreshed from both experiences. My only very minor disappointment was that the full Shellac line of products (prep, base/top coats) was not available for the mani, but that will not prevent me from continuing to visit this excellent salon. read more

I popped in for a spontaneous shellac manicure (my first one). The salon was clean and neat with friendly staff. They are going for a higher end look by using white furniture with faux hardwood floors and grey walls. However, the furniture is cheap and showing it's age. But, that isn't too important considering I am here for a manicure not buying furniture. Anyway... I noticed it on my fingernails before I left and they put on another top coat, but the bubbles came back after I left. Same thing for the pedicure, which was $50, complete waste. Sometimes beauty brush ups take priority over cold calls. When you have afternoon events where your nails just may happen to be in the lime light, a manicure far outweighs an hour spent dropping your business card and a few brochures at potential client offices. Fortunately for me, Polished Nail Lounge was more than happy for walk-in business. I was thrilled to stumble into a very clean nail salon with a fair amount of clients having their toes and fingers painted on a random Thursday morning. Service was excellent and efficient, and I'd be more than happy to return the next time I need a mid afternoon manicure break from all the doors slammed in my face! I have to update my review as I had a wonderful time there last week. Heaven did my nails and she was happy, talkative, and did not say anything negative about my nails. I have seen her before at her prior salon and she spent the whole time telling me how I did not need to get a gel manicure because of the state of my nails. This annoyed me. So when I saw she was doing my nails on this day, I was worried, since I had come back for a- you guessed it- gel manicure. I am happy to report that this was not the case. I had such a pleasant experience with Heaven that I booked a manicure and pedicure for a couple of weeks from now. PNL moved down the strip mall and while the place looks bigger, I was told it was the same footage, I guess just shaped differently. My initial rating leaving the salon was five stars. I was able to make an appointment over the phone easily and was thrilled that all the technicians spoke English. I got a regular manicure and one nail repair. It was fascinating watching her put the tip on the very end of the broken nail and build it up with the powder (I don't get manicures often, give me a break). I didn't like the color I picked after the first coat, so she found a darker version and we went with that instead. The salon was clean and bright and my technician was very pleasant. However, the next day I realized that the quick drying top coat had shrank by a millimeter or two on every nail - it looked terrible! I just got engaged and got my nails done knowing my fiance and I would be seeing over thirty people at Thanksgiving and I'd be showing my ring off. I was embarrassed every time someone asked to look at my ring because of my nails. I have no doubt that this salon would be great if you were getting a gel or shellac manicure, but I won't be back for a regular one. read more

I really want to like this place. It's clean and not your typical nail salon, but then again you're paying for the atmosphere. I initially visited with a great Living Social deal. While they were overwhelmed with the response, they scheduled appropriately so there wasn't a long wait for my appointment. The experience was good, but I wasn't impressed with the quality of work. Benefit of the doubt given because of the LS deal and my mother had a good experience. I decided to give Polished another chance because as I said, I want to like them. This time I went without an appointment and expected to wait. No problem. However, the technician rushed through the mani/pedi because of other people waiting. It would be fine to say, "We are booked so it may be awhile" and I can decide to wait or come back later. I respect that more than being rushed, especially when I'm paying that type of money. And no I didn't get the basic service (and hadn't expected to) although she never asked which service I wanted. The salon is clean and they use good products from the tools to the polish (though limited OPI colors). While I probably won't return anytime soon, I would recommend them. read more
