I reached out to the owner who also stated she had never given her heart worm medication either! I also sent her a picture of Bellas teeth which were in terrible shape. So basically they just bred her and made money off her and then sold her. The owner did agree to pay me for vaccinations and testing (thank goodness she was negative for heart worms). Went in, looking for an adult cat. Had looked online at a few of the adult cats, and was debating…read morebetween two. Also considering one of two kittens. I had decided i wanted to get another cat after having to put my old cat down (he had gotten cancer after an 18 year life). After being told that the adult cats were each part of a bonded pair, but not each other, and one of the kittens I had liked was also part of a bonded pair, I decided to see the fourth kitten; I was mostly interested in only one, for now, due to my roommate's cat. I was taken to see the cats in another section of the shelter by one of the volunteers. He was housed in a kennel with a second cat, who was much more friendly. The cat I had been interested in was very fearful, and kept hiding- even batted at me, without claws, but was willing to be handled. After deciding I was taking the kitten, the volunteer thought I wanted the friendlier of the two, but I knew I had the time and patience for the more fearful kitty. He is now my constant companion and I am glad I brought him home. Don't discount the fearful, they have plenty of love. He was healthy, neutered, had been in a foster temporarily, and waiting to come home. Took his records to my vet, and he needed nothing for his annul checkup. Can't wait to spend another several years with him!
