Pollo Tropical never disappoints when I'm in Miami. The staff is always friendly and ready to help. I hear some of the locals say it's fake Cuban food, but it has great roasted chicken and black beans. The sauces are always amazing and compliments the chicken. There was a special today called yucca balls. I could be wrong with the name, but they were terrible. Definitely a waste of money. Minus the yucca balls the entire experience was great. The price point was great with a family meal under $20. I definitely would recommend this place to all that visits Florida. read more

By the way, the older Spanish-speaking cashier who worked on Tuesday was very nice and helpful. I haven't been there for many years, I don't even know why. But honestly that's the healthiest fast food in the area in my opinion, a lot of chicken options and very affordable prices. I had a chicken wrap and yuca with cheese and I payed for it only $11 the quality is good too, even that the wrap was a little smaller then I expected but I was still satisfied! Service was pretty good and fast, even that it were 4-5 people in front of me I waited just 15 min more or less for the food. Good value for the amount and quality of food. Vacationing in Miami Beach, I was looking a fast-casual location kind of like a Chipotle. Pollo Tropical offered the chain with a Caribbean flare. I ordered the quarter chicken platter served with yellow rice and french fries. My chicken was a little dry, but the citrus marinade on the chicken was decently enjoyable. The yellow rice was pretty standard tasting but the garden vegetables in the rice kicked it up a notch. The fries were like normal fast food fries, but paired well with the wide array of sauces offered on the condiment station. The TropiChop (aka cheaper Chipotle bowl) was an excellent bang for my buck. Even though the flavors didn't explode, I can't really complain having paid only $7 and given a generous portion size. read more

Worst fast food experience to date. I placed an order online for pickup. Go into the store to pickup the order only to find a large group of people waiting for their online orders. Front counter employees were yelling at the guests and referencing us just standing around like cockroaches. They "ran out" of all sauces even though you can see the sauce jars in the back. Ordered a bunch of desserts with the meal and they were tossed all around and hot. Key lime pie should be cold. There was a big pile of already made online orders but the clerk refused to assist us. When new online customers came in, they got yelled at if they were supposed to know any issues prior. "I told you all, we out of sauces" I called to file a complaint with corporate. Easily the best pollo tropical location I've been too. Usually always gets my order right and the wait time isn't bad like others. This is the best healthy value option on the beach with meals as low as $6 or $5 like the classic tropichop or the 1/4 chicken with rice and beans. I love saving $ and eating right so I recommend pollo topical, they even have vegan options too! Probably eat here 2-3 times a week, better than meal prepping. Parking isn't a problem, and they have a big dining area. Workers are nice and from what I see, they work hard to keep this establishment moving. 4 stars and not 5 because they are a fast food chain and I can't give 5 stars to fast food. Some homeless will be there but they don't bother you so don't worry, they're just trying to get that GREAT deal like you are! Enjoy! read more

I ordered online for pick up so I don't have to wait. My order said completed online after 15 mins I went to pick it up and told the lady I had an online order she completely ignores me and calls numbers to pick up food. So I waited thinking it wasn't ready. 5 mins go by I remind her and she get frustrated at me. And starts making the order then and there, took her 20 mins! Mind you I have a 30min lunch. Let's start with the good. They currently have a half chicken special with rice & beans for $5.99 after 4pm every weekday. That's an amazing deal. Even at full price (about $1.50 more) it's a good deal. Rent can't be cheap on Alton Road in South Beach. The food quality is far superior to most fast food. It's real food. The roast chicken has a nice seasoning, good flavor. If I paid $15 in a nicer restaurant and got this portion size and quality with a nice plate presentation, I would probably be satisfied. Sometimes they are crowded with long lines and there is a wait. With the quality and pricing, I guess that should be expected. Usually, the ordering process is quick, and the food comes relatively quickly. The service is pretty quick, so they even do a pretty good job when it's crowded of getting your food to you with a reasonable wait. What could use improvement? Rarely, the chicken is dry. They seem to prepare a lot of chicken at the same time, so maybe when it's slower, it gets left out too long. I've had very good experience getting a fresher serving when I get dry chicken and return it. It's really only happened a couple of times, and I eat there pretty frequently. Noticed it mentioned in other reviews, but I wonder if they asked for an exchange. They were very quick to get me a fresh serving of chicken when I have complained about dryness. They are slow to clean tables, and you have to search to find one that isn't dirty. The employees do not seem happy to be there. I'm assuming that they pay low. A few of them have sunnier dispositions, but it's rare to see anyone smiling behind the counter. They do seem to have good employee retention, because I see some of them there for a long time, so maybe it's not so bad. I would just like to see a smile on the cashier's face or something. Manager and cashier and a 3rd employee do not understand the menu options! I've eaten at probably 15 South Florida locations and 1/2 a Chicken comes with Rice and Beans OR 1 REGULAR SIDE! They apparently do not understand the word "OR". I asked for 1/2 a chicken w 1 side and wanted my 1 side to be a Ceasar salad. Every other location in S Florida understands and have given me exactly this AND CHARGED ME THE PROPER AMOUNT! they were trying to still give me the rice and beans PLUS the salad and charging me for 2 sides or charging for a salad by itself. Side of boiled yucca with garlic sauce was hard, dry and had virtually no garlic taste. In sum, all food tasted like it was cooked in the morning (perhaps a day earlier) and left standing on a counter all day. I phoned to complain and request the sauces but finally hung up after 15 minutes on hold. Zero customer service. Strongly suggest you avoid this lousy company. A local took me here and said it was a "very Miami" place. I will say the chicken was good and seasoned well. The sides are just flat out terrible. Rice that sticks together, beans that are bland, etc. Not a lot else more to say than that. I realize cheap food options can be slim in South Beach which is probably why they do well.
