Searching for Mexican food while in Miami and came across Alma Mexicana. Browsed their menu and found a CA burrito. What?! I knew I had to check it out to see if it was legit. Indeed it was! Alma's CA burrito came with beans, but I got mine without them. Definitely took me back to the CA burritos that I remember in San Diego. The carne asada was tender and had good flavor. Fries were crispy and didn't take over the burrito. Guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo were a good amount as well. Accompanied by either their green or red salsa, Alma's CA burrito hit the spot. C devoured his side of rice and beans, so guess that was good as well. Alma's was a small establishment with several tables inside. Service was pleasant. Definitely check this place out if you are in the mood for a CA burrito.

Chicken quesdillas and empanadas are amazing. Server was really sweet. This seems like a quaint mom and pop shop. Very authentic!

Alma was a pretty solid spot a few blocks away from the beach. It's a bit expensive for a counter service place, but the portions justified the cost. I ordered the shrimp fajitas place and it was clear the shrimp was of good quality. The fajita veggies were a bit oily and salty, but absolutely delicious. My friend enjoyed her enchiladas as well.

Awesome awesome Mexican food. It's off the main strip so prices are better. Staff was super friendly and the food was so fresh and tasty. Highly recommend!!

Viva Mexico! This place is yet ANOTHER top-notch Mexican eatery popping up in Miami. This is a trend I saw coming and so glad it's here. This place, despite its amazing vibe and look, seemed to be headed to a 3 star due to our first server who was unexpectedly unhappy and cold. BUT then another server started helping us and she saved the day, she was all smiles and so hospitable. Anyway, THE FOOD! I ordered their delicious all-day breakfast option and one of my all-time favorites home style meals... Chilaquiles! This is tortilla chips quickly stewed in green salsa, topped with onion and chihuahua cheese and served with crumbling white cheese, two over medium eggs and a dollop of sour cream on top. Daaaaamn (in my Chris Tucker voice) this is perhaps the most amazing Mexican brunch dish ever. Beans and rice on the side of course, these were excellent. I washed it all down with their horchata and pineapple juice. Horchata was good, but watery, not going to win any awards but good. Pineapple was tasty, fresh and perfect with the meal. They also have Mexican sodas. This spot gets 4 because I'd come back for another serving of those chilaquiles without hesitation.

Wow! Insane food, massive portions and price was decent. Service was great the staff was super friendly, and ambiance was cozy not too big to where you're just another table. Highly recommend

Service was great. Went into the restaurant around 9pm and was immediately sat. Food came in quick after ordering. If you are looking for a simple menu and enjoy simple meals alma Mexican is a great place to go!

The inside was so cute and I loved the Decor. Our waitress was supper chill and the service was great. We ordered like four things and it came within 15 minutes. The fish tacos were great and same with the carnitas. I would definitely go again.

This is some of the best food I have had in Miami Beach and the margarita really hits the spot. The smothered burrito is very cheesy and high quality and the service is incredible. I love the wall art! Definitely will be returning. xD

Pretty good Mexican restaurant on the beach with reasonable prices. We tried the California Burrito: Steak, fries, beans, guac, sour cream, pico de gallo and cheese. DELICIOUS! the combination of all of this rolled into a flour tortilla was genius. And, it's huge! it's one of those burritos you can split with a side of chips and guac. Also tried the Steak fajitas: Flour tortillas, Steak, Re fried beans, pico de gallo, cheese and Mexican rice. I wasn't a fan of the tortilla so I skipped them and ate everything else as is. Everything was very flavorful. You can tell the cook loves their job.

Ordered delivery due to COVID and was not disappointed. Everything was packaged very well. I asked for extra hot sauce in the notes and they graciously gave me 6 packets which made me so happy! They followed orders exactly. All of the ingredients were fresh. The chorizo tacos were packed with meat and flavor.

Cute little restaurant. The decor, and ambiance is laid back, and relaxing. The food is very fresh, and flavorful. Loved the beans, and rice.

Each plate was $30 and supposed to come with beans and rice but only came with a sauce cup of rice. The blue corn tortillas were very good, as were my short rib tacos. The drinks were amazing, I was excited to try Illegal Mezcal, our server helped my mom find what she would like and gave overall excellent service. I then realized the restaurant is owned by "First Class Hospitality" a group with nearly two dozen locations/concepts around South Beach. Alongside a couple other corporate hospitality providers, they have the entire dining market cornered with the same specials, identical pricing, and same foodservice providers. I'm sure many tourists couldn't care any less about the food they eat having no real ties to the area, but I do. At the end of the meal we had a 20% service charge which our server said did not go to them as a gratuity, the server was unable to apply the "Happy Hour" discount claiming our drinks didn't count though there was no indication based on the "Buy 1 Get 1 Free Cocktails, Beers and Wines" and we ordered off the cocktail portion of the menu. We were told by the hostess that the two other Mexican places we considered down the street were the exact same kitchen and prices, just different buildings and names, even down to watching our food be carried up the sidewalk from another building. Between the corporate soullessness, shady Happy Hour practice, cookie cutter concept, a "service charge" which doesn't benefit staff, and the food poisoning I have attributed to it, by the end I just felt sour. I regret patronizing this place and wish I had been more judicious in my choice. If I have to spend $100 on a meal, I'd rather it stay local.

Taquiza is nothing short of spectacular when it comes to their authentic blue corn tortillas. Coming from a hospitality family, Tyrese who was on his first day of training made sure our table and every guest interaction with tables around were satisfied and full. Asking about recommendations, he was able to explain the flavor palates provided with tacos and drinks. Though $5 a piece for tacos, seems a little steep this is like a reasonable Miami price considering others are about $8 for one in other places. We tried the crispy fish, al pastor, carnitas and Arrecha tacos. They were spectacular, and the guacamole with totopos thick crispy but fluffy blue corn chips. We even ordered a dozen blue corn tortillas to take home for $9. I think this is amazing price considering their authenticity. We even had their horchata and I loved it bringing me back to my childhood days. Give Taquiza a try, though some reviews here are not 5 star satisfied, I promise you won't be disappointed trying this place out at least one it twice whether you're a tourist or a regular. They are also pet friendly! A big win for the Beach community!

We sat outside and it was a beautiful day, which definitely made the experience better. That said, it's not beachfront, and there's construction going on right where the outdoor seating faces. Finding the restaurant was honestly a bit of a mission because we had to go around all of that. We did get seated right away, which was great. From what I could tell, there was only one server handling everything, so she was clearly busy and service was a bit slow. Food wise, it was really good. The carne asada tacos were flavorful and well done, and the guac stood out too. Their chips are house made and thicker than usual, which is different but still good. Overall, I'd come back. Good food, nice vibe, just be prepared for a slower service depending on how busy it is.

The first words that come to my nd are from the Jeremy Zucker song, Oh Mexico. "No, I don't miss…read moreyou yet You're just a feeling I'd rather forget." Because this was a truly forgettable restaurant experience. Stopped by for a quick drink and a couple of appetizers. Not bearing a big appetite this evening. Big fan of the old Mexico restaurant on Ocean Drive where I often go for their memorable tacos. Although this one had higher ratings, my fellow Yelp, Elite, this one just did not measure up. Don't get me wrong, I am used to paying premium prices to dine in Miami Beach. And I gladly do because it is invariably a wonderful experience. And in fact, the experience at the restaurant was wonderful with a beautiful outside table on a dog friendly patio among other diners that were pleasant to talk to, But the ambulance is where the positive parts ended. First, there is the service. From the moment we sat down without that our only value was to spend some money. The waiter came over within seconds of our picking up the menus asking to take our order and then returned five times in the next seven minutes to ask if we were already yet. His obvious sense of annoyance that we were not distracted from our ability to have a pleasant evening, enjoying a beautiful Miami Beach night outside now that the cold wave has passed. We decided on our drinks; a watermelon margarita and a pineapple margarita. Even though the menu were only listed one price he asked if we wanted a small or medium. Since the "small" was $19, the only price on the menu for these drinks, and the "medium" was "only eight dollars more" we assumed that's a small would be adequate, especially because I would be driving home shortly. What we instead discovered was it the small drinks were a highball glass filled with ice and literally three small sips of the margarita. Flavor was good, but barely got a chance to taste it and it was gone. It had so much ice that my wife is able to use the remaining ice for her water for the rest of the evening since the water was served lukewarm with no ice. But the real disappointment was the food. I absolutely love the food at their other restaurant and imagine that was going to be just as good. Not nearly. Served looking like a hot mess. The tortilla chips were stacked haphazardly with the ingredients poorly dispersed perhaps purposely to hide the fact that they weren't very many of them at all. They eight dollar up charge for chicken ended up giving me a few scattered crumbs a bland unseasoned chicken that were so tiny that I had first thought they had forgot the chicken entirely. Or perhaps they did and I just imagine these little white things were actually food, it was hard to tell. About 25% of the chips were burnt. Even the guacamole which I always order at the ocean Drive location because it is so good was a watery tasteless green substance that had no resemblance to what I remember from my last experience. In this instance, the ingredients were without exception, bland, and tasteless. We finished our drinks which literally was about 30 seconds and decided not to order any more food. We paid our bill of about $80 after the included tip for one app and two minuscule drinks as we decided to cut our losses and left. Well, we didn't exactly leave right away because it took over a half an hour to get our waiter to bring us our check. You may ask why this even warrants three stars? Two reasons. The first is location. I can't imagine a better location or a prettier patio to enjoy a meal at. Second was that it is dog friendly; I did notice they put out a bowl of waterfor thd dogs at our neighboring table, although they did not do so for us. But the dogs at that table made it a five star experience for our own dog as they enjoyed each other's company while we attempted to enjoy our evening. Sadly, we were unable to.
