I would like to add that it took a year for this review to get looked at. I did go back eventually and the storefront isn't too much better. The parking lot is still in the same condition, the dumpsters leak fluids into the drive through lane and parking area, and they still run out of sauces frequently from what I hear. Last time I went back, they didn't have salsa, and only two cilantro mayo for an order of three meals. Thankfully, they did get the order right and didn't charge me incorrectly. I don't normally review chain restaurants but this was a bad meal. Preforming my weekend tasks I needed to eat and recently heard Pollo Tropical sold Covina (fish), so I stopped in for a bite. I ordered the Covina Platter with Cesar Salad and Corn with Avocado Slices. I received my order and sat for as Rakim said "plate of fish which is my favorite dish". But a good piece of Covina is still a wish, because this was Horrible! The fish was bland and looked nothing like the pictures in the restaurant. Instead of slices of avocado, I got a chunk of something that tasted as if it was grown in an empty bathtub in an abandoned lot. It was bad! Tough and not exactly flavorless but the flavor that was there, is nothing you would want on your tongue. The corn was equally bland as the fish. The Cesar Salad was the best part of the meal. The young lady who took my order was very courteous. I did say I wanted to dine in. But everything was thrown in to go containers and to go bags. The one star is for the young lady taking my order and the Cesar Salad. I'm not sure why my past couple of visits have been not good at all but I'll find another Pollo or just forgo Pollo Tropical altogether. read more

I altered between this location and the one by I-95 but as soon as I discovered the magic of curbside pickup, I found this location to be most reliable. First of all, round of applause for the solid hookup the kids meal offers. It's the perfect portion! My second favorite is the chicken caesar wrap combo. No other wrap satisfies me the way this one does. The next item I flock towards is the mojo pork tropichop with white rice. I order it before I head out and arrive just in time for the pickup time. #WinningAtLife I love the strawberry lemonade as a refreshment choice even if there's a surcharge for it. My favorite side item is either the fried yucca with the cilantro garlic sauce or the balsamic tomatoes in their full zesty nature. Before you read this review, you should know that my family owns a restaurant, so I'm pretty understanding when it comes to what workers have to deal with. I've never felt compelled to write a bad review before because it's just not worth the effort. I don't even live in this state, I have no stakes in this game. And yet, the service was so terrible that I needed to share it. First things first, the food was actually really good. I would go here over El Pollo Loco every time. But HOLY SHIT, the service was terrible. We ordered around 7:30, pickup time was 7:43. We showed up a bit early and there was one party in line. We stood at the counter waiting for someone to acknowledge us; this took about 5 minutes. The manager finally came up to the register, asked us who the order was for, I answered, and she just walked off into another room without saying anything to us. We figured out that they hadn't even started on our order. 3 more customers came in during this time and had a similar experience trying to get the attention of the staff. There were about 5 workers there, no drive thru customers, and the food was clearly ready to be served. One was on her phone showing a meme to her coworker for about 5 minutes, the others (including the manager) were moving at the speed of molasses. They even blinked slowly, as if *SOMETHING* was hindering their normal brain functions. The other 4 customers and I had enough time to start complaining about the service to each other while we were all standing in front of the counter and I'm sure the employees heard us. One of us even pointed at her order that was ready to go in the bag and it took them 3 minutes to give it to her. When we finally got our order, I felt the need to check the bag to see if everything was there. Thankfully, it was. We tried to leave the way we came in and they had locked the door, so we had to use another exit. As we were leaving, the manager gave me a look with dead eyes as if she was annoyed for having served us. We got our food at around 8:05. If I could give zero stars I would. In town visiting and been this location 3 times only because it's the nearest to where I'm staying and every-time it gets worse and worse. This 3rd time is the last visit. 1st time, my husband and I walked in, only customers in line and waited 7 minutes while 5 workers were behind the counter completely ignored us and never acknowledged us. So we left to go to another location in Miami who did not honor curbside as we waited several minutes in the car. 2nd time i visit this location, I tried the curbside order option because I didn't want a repeat of the last visit and after several minutes and calling the number on the app and email confirmation and no one picking up. I went inside to pick up my order and it took over 30 minutes just to get it. This place is a hit or miss. I have to say I have a love/hate relationship with them. I started working right next door over a year ago and the first two times I came here it was very disappointing. I told myself I would never come back. Being the foodie that I am, I cant just shut a place down without trying it multiple times. So A few months down the road I decided I would give a go again and I must say I was surprised. The meal was actually tasty.
