As an Angeleno it's been hard to find good, fresh, tasty Mexican food in Goleta/SB, especially if you want your money's worth. This place is great, I've enjoyed everything I've tried. My boyfriend introduced me to the chicken salad which is always very fresh, lettuce crunchy, good variety of veggies and a nice portion of chicken. It's one of my favorites for lunch or dinner. There's no dressings but the pico de gallo and salad is tasty on its own and you won't really miss it. I like it with some lime. Their combo plates and fajitas (which come with rice, beans, and tortillas) average around $11 and they're good portions. Rice and beans are okay nothing special. Awesome causal one-off Mexican style restaurant!! Grilled chicken--perfect! Excellent restaurant-made roasted tomato/chile salsa. Fresh made chips, REAL whole beans (not from a can). How often do you see Beef Ribs on a menu? Jerry's Pollofino's does them up right also....easy to eat off right the bone. The ribs are a bit pricy but So worth it. He had bbq to say the least... These ribs were worse. If the sides were the highlight of this meal... you see where I'm going with this. Was having a terrible burrito craving and came here based on Yelp reviews. We were satisfied! The service is good. We ordered the flying steak burrito. It's a good size but it is by no means monstrous. It made me pretty full but I'm on the smaller size. The burrito was delicious; it didn't have much meat and full of mostly other toppings, but it was not greasy or overwhelming. They also have a bar with pickled chilis, jalapenos, carrots, and salsas. The jalapenos went great with my burrito, but caution, the chilis are on a much higher level of spicy. I need to come back for the plates, but the burrito here gave me a positive experience. This is pretty damn good place to get a burrito at a reasonable price. Their chicken parts are also pretty good. Their pickles are HOT, for people who cannot stand spicy be careful, their pickles are spicier than most mexican restaurants. I'd give it a full 5 stars but I came in at 11:30 AM for lunch and they said they had run out of ribs. Out of one of their main dishes before lunch time is quite disappointing, I'll be back some day to try their ribs. read more

3 stars It's not that bad as a resturaunt the service is fine and the food comes at a good speed and you can maybe hear a sizzle in the kitchen. the quesadillas are good and so are the burritos but the tomatoes really overpower the other flavors which I don't like and the guacamole is sad and bland, If you buy a container of guacamole its not worth it because it is overpriced for the size and it tastes very sad and bland like it was just mourning a dead relative. Overall not bad I guess may eat there again. Don't judge the resturaunt completely off my rating because it is very good there is just some things I dont like. read more

Everything I order from here is so good! The taquitos, the chicken plate, the burritos! I like ordering the same things when I like something but every time I order something new here, it becomes my new favorite. The salsa bar is fresh and has a nice variety. I like the spicy pickled onions with habanero. The sauce on the chicken is very tasty and unique. The owners and staff are very friendly and you can tell they are working hard to get your order out quickly. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a tv that is usually playing a soccer game. This is the best place for Mexican style grilled chicken. They obviously can't roast a whole chicken after you place the order, but somehow, Pollofino always managed to keep the chickens really juicy and hot, but without the skin getting all soggy. The beef ribs were even better, smokey, and basted with a finger licking sweet glaze. The burritos were ok, but I liked the quesadilla more. There were 4 salsas, two of them were made with charred/roasted chili to provide some flavor contrast to the usual fresh salsas. The decor was nonexistent, but hey, the food was really good. Great food. The flying steak burrito is my go-to. They really don't skimp on the meat. I always get the avocado salsa and salsa verde, and they're always on point- never too watery and always consistent. I got the steak nachos today, asked for beans to be left out and to add rice. For about $12 bucks, it was pretty good and it was a gigantic portion (could feed 2 or 3). Seemed to skimp a bit on the rice though. I will add that you could go to Cal Taco and get the same size steak nachos for the same price ($10 + additional cost for rice). Will always come back for the burrito. read more

Came here because of a coupon in the entertainment book and it was close by the Calle Real movie theater in Goleta. The bf came here before with another friend that was from out of town and his only advice was to NOT order the ribs. (I love ribs, but based on that, I steered clear upon hearing that it had less flavor than expected.) I'm not a fan of chicken. Partially because I'm such a bad cook that I can't even count the times on one hand in which I've overcooked chicken breast. Due to my personal bad cooking experiences, I have a tendency to project the idea of "chicken tastes bad" to any menu that has it (well, unless it's fried...). Since the bf advertised the place as a burrito joint, he convinced me to go. After all, the name "pollo"fino is all about chicken! We ordered the Tri Tip and Chicken combo (comes with rice, beans, pico de gallo and tortillas of your choosing) and the chicken combo burrito (which is served with a heaping pile of fixins: guac, beans, pico de gallo) to go. At the salsa bar, the friendly and courteous employee recommended that I try the red salsa, so I grabbed a couple of containers of it as I headed out the door. All I can say is wow... the tri tip was delicious and the chicken was grilled and moist. The chicken burrito was also pretty good. We mixed the salsa for the dishes and they were a great compliment. After this experience, I'm going to have to rethink my "chicken tastes bad" statement! read more

With the combo options, I can add either tri-tip or marinated charbroiled chicken to a plate with rice, beans, and either corn or flour tortillas! I think this place is heavily overrated. Everything I've gotten here has been watery on the bottom. This includes the avocado chicken salad, the nachos, and the chicken fajita. The food isn't bad, but it isn't amazing in my opinion. I do like the variety in their menu though; it includes classic mexican dishes, and BBQ items. The biggest reason I'm giving this place one start is because I got food poisoning from the chicken fajita. My stomach is pretty strong, and can handle most anything.
