If you've seen one picture of a taco, you've seen them all, right? Then why am I so proud of my taco picture here??? Well, it's because, I managed to hold off devouring them long enough to take the picture that's why!! Also, because every time I look at the picture my mouth waters and I regret the earlier non taco meal. I don't know if I've said this before, I may have, I may say it again, but for now these are my favorite tacos in SB. It's always a perfect bites, or multiple bites. The flavor of the pastor and asada is just so darn delicious. The salsas are good, you'll enjoy and appreciate the crisp cucumbers, radishes, and sautéed jalapeño & onion. A sprinkle of lime and salsa to your liking and you're good to go! Also, order the pineapple and cucumber agua. Trust me. (Taco) cheers. Happy eating!!!

    Pastor quesadilla

This place used to be way better! I feel like they raised their prices yet reduced their portions. And quality. I usually get the quesadilla and it used to be a big full size flour tortilla pretty heavily filled with cheese and whatever meat and now it is a small corn one that isn't price appropriate. I live nearby is why I ended up coming but most likely won't be back unless it's for a burrito bc those apparently are still good from what I hear. Although the price is now at $15 for a burrito!

First time here and I got the steak burrito. The steak is hot and juicy. I didn't get beans in it so I got a lot more meat with some rice. It's served with a half a pepper, cucumbers on the side. You get red and green salsa which both are good. Im glad I found this spot and will be returning soon.

This is the quesadilla that I paid $5+ for and waited over 35 minutes for.

Plain and simple: I waited over 30 minutes and paid $5 for half of a corn tortilla stuffed with some cheese.

I had their Asada burrito and it was probably one of the best burritos I've ever had! I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Best Mexican street tacos in SB! You won't find tacos more authentic than these. Even the champurrado is home made and delicious.

My husband got a steak taco and also the same fish tacos I had, and everything was just so good. We're giving it a 10/10! For sure! no question. Just a heads up, it can be a little spicy, so watch out for that if you're sensitive to heat. The prices are perfect too, which honestly just makes the whole experience even better. The vibes are everything here. It's all outdoor seating and just a perfect chill setup. It's located right next to batting cages, but you still feel safe and protected, with a parking lot and handicap accessibility available. Service is super quick, they don't make you wait forever at all. Everything was just perfect: the food, the atmosphere, the service, all of it. If you're in the Santa Barbara area, you have to check this place out. Totally recommend!

There was a line when we got there on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm and that took about 20 minutes before we could order. All of us got the triple play which is an order of three tacos any flavor u want. I loved my spicy crispy shrimp and my families choice of carne asada and the battered up. Bahn mi had a tang I didn't love and the grilled fish was fine but not as flavorful as the crispy shrimp and carne asada. My family loved the Gangnam style, crispy shrimp, carne asada and grilled shrimp best. Hard to recommend certain tacos bc everyone has different ideas about what they like but I couldn't get over the crispy shrimp crunch with tender juicy interior. And the carne asada had such strong classic flavors because of their stunningly good guacamole! So of course if u like guac u need to order their guac and chips!

Back to table service! Yay!!!…read more Attractive and very clean restaurant with great service. Truly delicious Mexican food. I love pozole - Cc's rendition is top notch and comes with all the extras to put in the soup including avocado, chopped onion, a whole fried tortilla to break up into the broth and Mexican oregano (the small is more than enough for one hungry person or to share with two).Homemade chips come with a four salsa selection ranging substantially hot to a delicate tomatillo green. I tried my tablemate's tacos, all three varieties were very very good. I've had takeout from here, but it's really worth going in person because the food is nuanced and best when piping hot as it's made.

This is a Michelin-recognized spot in 2021 and I came in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, the seasonal fish ceviche was a major letdown. The albacore tasted overly fishy and had a stringy texture. The combination of watermelon, cucumber, and avocado was creative and refreshing, but the fish itself was disappointing. We ended up picking around it and eventually threw away all of the albacore because we didn't feel comfortable eating it. Thankfully, the tacos were a completely different story. We ordered the skirt steak taco and the octopus taco, and both were fantastic. Great flavor, well-balanced, and easily the highlight of the meal. The other downside was the service. The guy taking the order was dismissive and turned away when we told him about the quality of their fish in their ceviche. Between the disappointing ceviche and lackluster service, it was the tacos that were the saving grace.

Los Agaves On De Lavina St. -- A Rare Review from Someone Who Hates Writing Reviews…read moreI spent 25 years owning a business. I know what good service looks like, and I know what entitled looks like. I never write reviews -- I watched Yelp destroy good people over bad nights, and I swore I'd stay out of it. Tonight changed that. I sat at the bar. It took the bartender over five minutes to acknowledge I existed. Another five to ten to deliver a Coke. I ordered dinner and waited forty minutes -- which I might have forgiven, except getting his attention was nearly impossible the entire night. No eye contact. Body language that made clear I was an inconvenience, not a guest. Every interaction felt like I was interrupting something more important. When I finally got him to check on my order, he went to the computer and discovered he'd never placed it. I walked out. I noticed the people around me weren't faring much better. The slowness wasn't just my experience -- it was the room. Los Agaves appears to be a popular place, and maybe on another night with another bartender it earns that reputation. But entitlement has a way of spreading when nobody checks it. I hope management is paying attention -- because a beautiful restaurant dies one invisible guest at a time.

I…read moredidn't want to leave Santa Barbara without getting proper tacos, so naturally I took his advice. And the tacos were amazing! Four for $12 is such a good deal. I got the chicharron, al pastor, chorizo with potatoes, and carnitas. A symphony of pork if you will. Each filling was very flavorful. The meats were marinated and seasoned well. But then adding the salsas balanced the richness of each type of pork. To break it down even further, the carnitas were juicy. The al pastor had a nice smoky notes. The texture of the chicharron was soft due to the saturation from the salsa, yet still had a some chewiness. And the chorizo and potatoes were filling. Lastly, the handmade corn tortillas were soft and also flavorful. My mom got the quesadilla with carnitas, and that was also really good. We added a side of rice because rice is life, and it was fluffy with a nice brightness from the tomatoes. Service was great - the gentleman who took our order was friendly and welcoming. The space is small, but the tacos come out fast so turn around time can be quick. There's bar seating inside and out, and there's a few tables inside as well. It's going to be hard to go anywhere else if I want tacos. I'm totally coming back for more.
