Went with my friends to view the Columbian soccer match. All the restaurants in the area were jam packed with fans so we decided to go wherever we could sit and view the match. We got squeezed in here in a shared table. We were grateful as the game was just about to start and bats were basically refusing patrons due to lack of capacity. We ordered a huge platter of meats (fried ) fried yuca to share . The menu has a lot of platters. Rice ,meats and salad combos. My friend ordered the whole fish and hers came first. We waited for a bit and the server came about half hour later with some ribs, rice and fries and apologize that it was so busy and taking long. We thought he had brought us food to snack on while our order was being ready. Turns out it never came. We honestly weren't bothered, we ate what he had brought us. The atmosphere electric with the soccer fever. We got more than our money's worth im entertainment and fun. We ordered more beer and decided to get some tacos at another spot. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and I'll definitely go back to try that platter. read more

This place is awesome, affordable and very tasty. We ordered Parrillada Mario for $ 45.95 and could share between 3 adults. Service was great and the they will check in and make sure everything goes fine. Overall environment is busy, clean, lots of take out and traffic. Always a line waiting by the door. I'll never miss an opportunity to grab food in Jackson Heights when I'm in the hood. While there are so many establishments to choose from, I go with consistency when I'm not dining with peeps that know the menu. My family in this case, like what they like so we picked the tried and true options here. The family favorites: creamy anything! On this food run: creamy chicken as an entree (you can order it as a soup/appetizer). And creamy shrimp entrees were the go to. Each entree comes with rice and fries. My only complaint, needs more rice!! Can't let the quart of cream sauce go to waste! (It's ok, we saved it for leftovers). Quick mention on the shrimp, these still had the tail on so be careful when eating it, sauce covers it, just know the tail tip you'll have to get your hands dirty to remove it. I also love grabbing steak when I can. All kinds of entree choices here. Was so tempted to get the carne asada with onions but opted for the grilled steak (plain) with the arepa con queso. I can't pass up the arepa... Only can get it in this hood. I love how the restaurant packaged it into the steak container but separated it with a lid in between. This way it stayed warm until I got it home but not soggy since it wasn't right on top, touching the meat. Great idea! This is why you come here! The small details make all the difference. Side note: my steak was a little tough (as expected since it's so thin and that cut of meat just is). Currently they have outdoor dining with heat lamps and the dining was thoughtfully executed. Each table has it's own overhead heat lamp so no one table gets cold (neither will the food). The tables are also socially distanced so while limited seats, it was done right! Credit card and cash accepted. Call ahead if you can, so you don't have to wait in the cold like I did for the food. I've been coming to this location for years and love this chain location the best out of all Pollo Mario's. The food here is so much more well seasoned then a lot of other location i've gone to in the past. Its also a big resteraunt so seating is never a headache at this location. Highly recommend the rotisserie chicken complete with red beans and rice, but do not miss out on other typical dished such as pork cutlet with onions (lomo) or carne asada. The decor is lack-luster but the food is over the the top and consistent. Best thing is that they deliver, so you can eat a great meal at home. The quality and more so "quantity" of food you receive on each entree is amazing. It's a great place for casual dinning. If you seek great tasting and filling food than this is the perfect spot. Came here for lunch with my mom and I was so excited! I've been dying to try this place and was finally in the area. However, I was sooo disappointed in the seafood soup I ordered--nothing like other seafood soups I've had. The taste has a weird earthly-crab taste and some of the seafood in it was imitation meat which is not what I expected at all. I think they should definitely make that known. They do however give big portions and most things come with a small side. I tried really hard to eat the soup but I could not get past the weird taste and then when I tried to eat the seafood with the side or rice that the soup comes with, it's mainly imitation meat (which is not my thing and not what I expect in a seafood soup) so all I ate from it was the shrimp. Aside from that, the waitress was friendly and offered us everything we needed without having to ask and as I mentioned before everything is a generously portioned. My mom had the soup of the day (sancocho with oxtail) and she liked hers. I'd go back to try something else but it's a hard pass on the seafood soup unfortunately. Total waste of $28 read more

We really travelled from Jersey City, NJ to eat here. Huge plate, not really a wait time, worth the money, and very clean. The customer service was weird to me though, but I know for a fact it's only cause I don't speak Spanish nor do I look like I speak Spanish. Thank God my bilingual boyfriend was with me and he pretty much took over with communicating with our waitress. I would strongly recommend going to this restaurant with a Spanish speaking person cause you will feel a lot more welcomed if you do so. Regardless, our plates were very overwhelming. This place is in the center to a vast variety of bars and clubs including LGBT that make a point to go there after clubbing and drinking as the food is good. First off, I recommend Casa Colombia 2-doors down. They are superior to PoMar in many ways, but most of all - the food, the staff, the atmosphere. The one thing Pollos Mario has going for it are indoor pear trees growing of the tiled floor. Miracle of life? or plastic? Red plastic is a big theme here. The red and white plastic bubbles, the booths, the tiled floor... reminds me of the McDonald's from my childhood. Not sure what their specialty is. I recommend getting N/2 dishes, where N = number of diners. This is in high contrast to Thai methodologies of ordering minimum N*3/2. The neighbors across the pear tree ordered a mixed meat plate. It came with as many cuts of meat as fingers us humans have piled nearly 6 inches high on a steaming skillet. That thing was massive. They knew what they were doing... kind of. Not much different from the other Colombian places along the strip. Big pictures on the menus, same dishes, same gringo-strange juxtaposition of meat and fish sauce. A bright atmosphere is the only thing which Casa Colombia can't compete with. But is it a competition? Are they running the same race? Who wants that trophy? This is one of my favorite places to eat in Jackson Heights. I had #18. Arroz con Camarones which was absolutely to die for. The fish was fresh and savory, the breading was just right-not too much or too little, or crumbly at all. The cocktails are something to be admired as well, they have the freshest made frozen passion fruit and strawberry margaritas I have had in NY. God bless the bar tenders. The service there is 2nd to none, everyone is extremely friendly and quick with anything you need, if you need anything, they will probably be around to offer it before you even ask. They are on top of it there. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting compared to the other one in queens which shares the same name. This is the better one to go to. I will most definitely be back and always recommend this to people who are going to NY and spending time in queens. read more

They have a great menu with lots to choose from. I had rice with chicken and salad. In the middle of eating a roach crawled onto the table, I was crazy enough to still sit there and finished my dinner. Now when I was almost done eating I noticed a few bags of trash.
