I have always aspired to become a "yelp elite." However, I often just don't manage to put in the…read moretime to write reviews for great places that I visit. I hope that helps you understand how much I loved this place. I cannot express how delighted I was at this place. I biked to Cascais from Lisbon, covering 22 miles in a few hours, and I was pretty exhausted when I arrived. I had to wait nearly 2 hours before I could go to my hotel, and I aimlessly wandered about town just trying to kill time. I saw that it had some gluten-free options, and decided to take a look. Greenwish has a great selection of gluten-free desserts, small pies and quiches, and a wonderful menu of healthy food including awesome salads and a brilliant daily soup. So brilliant that I ate the soup of the day here twice. I got a lot of stuff to go, hauling it to Lisbon with me as I embark on a hiking trip. Man. I wish I could eat here every day - I'll just have to hope it's still here when I come back next, so VISIT AND EAT HERE! You won't regret it!

After a bit of a struggle trying to find some place that offered vegan options (besides Indian food and Beyond Burgers), we came upon Your Healthy Kitchen, located on the second floor within the TimeOut Cascais Marketplace. We grabbed a seat out on the balcony overlooking the fresh farmers' market. Our wait staff was young and welcoming. We shared an appetizer of guacamole and chips, which hit the hunger pangs. For my main, I went with the Tofu Poké Bowl. It was a large bowl stuffed with mouthwatering goodness; really refreshing and 100% satisfying. I don't normally do desserts, but I couldn't turn down the opportunity to try their vegan "Snickers" dessert. OMG, it tasted just like a frozen Snickers bar! And three enormously filling chunks, to boot! YUM!!! Needless to say, I was stuffed to the brim when all was said and done. Again, wait staff was super friendly and attentive. (Jay went with a curry tofu dish and thoroughly enjoyed his order, as well.) Overall, it was a very fine and filling late-lunch, and would definitely come again! :D

Highly recommend the corvina salmon ceviche! Comes with sweet potato accents, and fresh orange pieces from the local market (literally directly adjacent to the store). Fantastic and highly recommend. This is in the tourist area of Cascais, but it was recommended to me by the hotel. It is located…read moreright behind the police station. They are closed on Wednesday. This is the only restaurant in Portugal that asked for a tip. Afterwards I realized they ripped me off because VAT was included in my meal price. Don't fall for the tip is not included, it might be because I am American. My server was on the grumpy side and never once smiled, but I think that is his personality, he smiled for no one. Food: I ordered the pasta with chile, calamari, and shrimp. It was a unique pasta with garlic and tiny amounts of ginger, that played very well and there was like 2 chile rings and then calamari and shrimp. The pasta was cooked perfectly and right amount of sauce that just played well together. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the shrimp but a few were not cleaned properly but everything tasted good. The chile did have a tiny bite so somebody might think this is spicy but was not for me, finally something with flavor. I did not eat all the pasta because then I ordered the octopus. The octopus was not cleaned properly but the texture was spot on and the taste was great, I added some of my own hot sauce on the side to give it some kick. Odd to have a boiled egg with the octopus, good taste but the green ring indicates the egg was overcooked. Everything was temperature hot and served fairly quickly. WiFi available. I should have just ordered the pasta because that was fantastic! The octopus was okay but took some work to clean. The pasta gives this place a 5. Service and tip with VAT already included would drop to 2. The octopus is 3 stars. But the pasta was the best meal thus far in Portugal.
