We did the Kauai Highlights & Movie Sites tour today and had a great time. We stayed on the south side and did exploring on our own on the west side and were looking for something that took us up north. We are not big movie fanatics but it was fun to go places on the island and see movie clips in the exact spot our tour bus sat. Also thought the did a nice job of picking great sites to take photos and gave us some alone time to explore a bit. We got WAY MORE done in a day than we could have on our own. read more

This company contracts with Princess Cruises for their excursions in Kauai. The driver (a woman with long black hair and a very sharp laugh - never introduced herself nor told us her name) was really really bad. She left us waiting for extended periods of time with no information, played the radio really loud through the speakers, didn't allow for traffic, and brought us back to the boat much later than planned when the line to reboard was crazy long. You'd think a contract with Princess would be really good for their business and they'd want to do a really good job. Not this driver! Quite the opposite. read more

Our driver, "Eaton", was very kind, interactive with his passengers, and most importantly, very informative. We learned so much about the island of Kauai, and were able to enjoy the views without the stress of driving ourselves. Our bus was a smaller bus, and we only had 14 on our bus so it was a perfect size group. Would highly recommend this tour, especially if you can request Eaton to be your driver. We booked the Waimea Kokee tour. Since this was our first trip to Kauai and we enjoy learning while traveling, this tour was a great one to start with. Jonna was our driver and tour guide...she took good care of us. Being a native of Kauai, she not only shared her knowledge of the places we visited, but provided an even richer experience with the stories she told - that were told to her by her grandparents and great grandparents. We did the Waimea Canyon Drive/Tour & Wailua River Boat Tour. Had I known it was going primarily be a drive I would have driven myself. Live & learn, I could have saved the money charged. It was a boring drive. However, The scenery was nice. Lunch at the Golf course was ok but should have been Included. Be sure to use the bathroom before you leave to the waterfall or you're made to wait ! Then was the Wailua River boat ride, which was nothing spectacular since we had previously done the Wailua Luau previous days before. The entire event could have been bypassed had I did some research. read more

We did the Waimea Canyon and Wailua River Tour. Overall, I think this was a good tour but they really need to manage their hotel pick ups better. We lucked out and were the last hotel on the pick up list. I guess there were actually 15 separate pick ups that day before the tour even started. Took a couple of hours for all of the pick ups. I feel really sorry for the people who were picked up at the beginning. This tour had a few stops. We went to the Spouting Horn first. We had already been there as it was near our hotel but it was nice to see again. Its a great overlook of the ocean. We went to Waimea Canyon overlook and spent some time there. We also went to Wailua River and went to the Fern Grotto on one of the Smith Family barges. We also stopped a couple other places - one of the water falls, a local store to use the bathroom and buy souvenirs. A lot of people were complaining that we were in a big bus. It was not really a big deal for me as I have been on a ton of bus tours. It might have been better though to be on a smaller bus so it took less time to get off and on. We did stop for lunch in Poipu at Joe's on the Green. We were responsible for our own lunch and would have preferred to go somewhere where there were more options. Food was okay. We had a good guide and she had good stories. Her laugh was a little annoying after awhile but overall she was informative. I definitely would use this tour company again but might get details on pick ups and bus size first. read more

DO NOT use this company. We paid over $400 for a tour of four; for a pickup at Princeville at 7 am. At 7:15 we called. She said there was traffic and "he would be there shortly". We felt this we made up. It WAS!!! At 7:25 we called. They said there was a problem on their end and we weren't even listed for pickup. THEN they call and say the MANAGER said the bus driver would pick us up in 20-25 mins since it was their fault. NOW at 8 am they called the resort and said it's too far for the driver. TERRIBLE service. Don't use them!! You will be SORRY!?! read more

Don't waste your money. Sam the driver/tour guide was rude and vulgar. He started the day by cussing at my wife. The vulgar language continued all day even after picking up children. We were the first pickups and spent the first 2 hours driving around picking up people. Sam knows less about Kauai than a nat! He talked about himself and his political views towards the loss of the sugar fields and what the county should allow the owners of the land do with it. He kept saying the same things over and over and over all day. MOST BORING DAY I HAVE SPENT EVER (and I am 70). Entire tour could have been compketwd in 3-4 hours. The river tour was boaring. Short river ride then a ling walk in the heat to hear one song then long walk back to boat for a short ride back. This was made to seem longer due to the live music and hula dancers which should have been left behind. Lunch was in a strip mall. I would think they would take the tour somewhere you could get some Hawaiian food, not a burger. All in all Sam is a vulgar unknowledgeable tour guide and the entire teip is a rip off! read more

We had a lovely day touring the island of Kauai. As i read in a previous review...was kinda hoping for shuttle...but once we settled into our comfy and clean seats my hubby and I adapted. Lisa drove the bus today and she was excellent. Enthusiastic and encouraging as some of us were vacay wearu. But she forged on enlightening with much info. Our last stop to the Fern Grotto was my favorite part of the day. We boarded a large boat and were entertained by music and folklore. Loved the beauty of the island...and now thanks to Lisa of Grayline tours i was able to learn, enjoy and view it all in one day. read more

We had a great time on the Movie Tour! Our tour guide, Kanae'e (sp?) was SO knowledgeable and really sweet. The tour is LONG, but totally worth the day spent. Seeing the movie scenes on the tour bus and then seeing the locations was super fun. It was really nice to explore the island, learn some history, and not have to drive ourselves. We got to get out and stretch our legs regularly, plenty of restroom stops, and the included lunch stop was good too! read more

Jack Custer is a GREAT tour guide! Thanks for a wonderful, informative, and funny tour to the Waimea Canyon. We enjoyed every minute. We did the 1/2 day tour to Wimea Canyon. Yes, we rented a car, and I could have driven us to the canyon, but for this one, I wanted to be able to relax, to enjoy the view, and not have to worry about driving, paying attention to the road, etc. So, we booked the tour, and I'm glad we did. Jack Custer was our tour guide, and he was GREAT! He was very knowledgeable, funny, answered all of our questions, and just did a great job. Oh, he was a good driver too.. The Wimea Canyon is must see if you are ever in Kauai. The drive there and back is 1/2 a day. It's time well spent. The Wimea Canyon is the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific," and again, a must see. It is beautiful. There is a little bit of a walk up hill to get to the lookout, but it's not hard. Take your time, you don't need to rush it. It only takes about 3-4 minutes to walk to the lookout. So, with just this one experience with Polynesian Adventure Tour, I would definitely book another tour with them, no doubt about that. read more

Save your $$$$$ Do not waste your money on the Movie tour!! You will be better off spending the money to rent a car and get a map to go on your own adventure to see the movie sights etc... We spent a good portion of our time in the beginning picking up others from their hotels and even a couple people from the airport where we had to wait because their flight was a little behind schedule but thats not the worst part it says you will be riding in a partially air conditioned bus and by this i mean it says its air conditioned but it doesn't work so well and the seats are not comfortable to sit in for a whole day of riding For 8 hrs crammed in a bus full of people. However the very nice but older gentlemen that is the tour guide try's but is boring to say the least very funny though to the older people on the tour mind you i myself am 44 so not that young. So after going through areas of where movies are filmed you take the excruciating trek back to drop off everyone that of course we had to wait to pick up and was the last people dropped off so needless to say it was an expensive nap. It truly felt like a total waste of $$ and a day that we cannot get back now. I would definitely would not recommend it to anyone!! read more

We had 5 adults & 4 children on the bus, we were really hoping for a small shuttle size tour bus but the big one showed up. It took over a hour to finish the hotel pickups (and we weren't the first pickup!). Once we were filled up we headed to Spouting Horn where we had 15 min to site see - there are locals selling merchandise here along with bathrooms. Next we headed up to Waimea Canyon - the road is narrow and curvy so beware of you get car sick! Once at the lookout we had about 30-40 min of time to enjoy. Again there were bathrooms and a local selling fresh fruit. Then a bonus stop at Kauai Coffee! Delicious and I highly suggest this coffee - no bitter aftertaste! We then headed to lunch which was a open aired restaurant (can't remember the name but I think it used to be Joes on the Green) that overlooked a golf coarse - we were really hoping for a ocean view! Burgers and fries were over seasoned and the chicken lacked flavor :( plus it wasn't included in the tour price. From here we headed to Wailua Falls (fantasy island) and that was a nice bonus! We ended the tour with the Wailua Boat to Fern grotto - it was a nice relaxing boat ride w pretty views! The hike to the grotto was a HOT one but very pretty! I loved it! They put on a lil Hawaiian show with dance and song. Very nice! Then it was back to the dock and back to the hotel. Overall we saw everything with a couple bonus stops so that was as advertised! It just took forever and we are used to driving and not being on a schedule. Our driver narrated the trip and I learned more about the island - which I wouldn't of gotten on a self drive tour. I purchased my tickets to this Waimea canyon & wailua river through Hawaii discounts. Com. I did my research and this site had it for the cheapest price. I stayed at the Marriott Kauai beach club. My pick up was at 815am so we only made like 3 more stops to pick up people at other hotels. The tour it self was really nice. Great views!!! The driver was very informative. My only complaint is that the bus he picked us up in did not have a working AC. So it was like a sauna for about 10-15 minutes before we got to our first tour stop at spouting horn. Once we arrived there, there was a newer bus with working AC. I would recommend you bring a light sweater because it got really cold on the bus. Also bring snacks and water. We made a stop to eat at joes on the green. Food not worth it. Salad was not fresh. The kids Mac and cheese was from a box and the chicken nuggets were bad too. read more

We took the bus (shuttle size) tour plus boat ride. Wife and I had an awesome time. Kat, our guide, is amazing. So knowledgeable and as friendly as they come. She took us to some very cool places - with a bonus stop at the coffee plantation! The day was muggy so it was a relief that the bus had good AC. Went on the H-1 Tour on 11/23/16. The driver was very unprofessional and his behavior made this trip on only long but really unpleasant. From stopping on the highway to show us his house to complaining about the local Hawaiian government this trip certainly is not recommended, with this driver at least. I have complained to Expedia in person and via telephone after returning to the mainland with no responses other than to say they're sorry and a promise that someone will contact me. I can only imagine how unpleasant this is for people visiting from other countries. read more

Let me tell you at outset, I am really disappointed to see such a bad reviews from the rest. Mark is an eighty plus year old rock star. He could talk any topics and never seen anyone who possesses such a grasp on everything he talks about. He kept amusing us with every topic he covered whether is about Hawaii, coffee, geology or anything under the sun . We lost a day in paradise sitting on a bus for 11 hours. We thought we'd see parts of the canyon that you can't see from a car. WRONG! They take you to every hotel being that each tour participant stayed at, this added probably 6 hours to our day picking people up and dropping them off. By the time that we got to the boat ride up the Wailua River, which we had really been looking forward to, we were bored out of our minds. It just felt like we had lost a day in paradise. In addition, we were taken to a mediocre restaurant without any prior notice of where we'd be eating. Good to hear the history of the island and our guide was pleasant and informative enough. This tour is geared towards those who lack mobility. Being an active couple looking for 'adventure' we felt duped. Juan's storytelling was a treat in and of itself, and we felt lucky to hear the oral history of the island as told by a true local. We took the Waimea Canyon and Wailua River Tour. Our driver was Mark (last name unknown). It was not only unpleasant, it was miserable. During the tour we spent over three hours on the bus, and Mark talked, and talked, and talked, not about interesting facts about Kaua'i and all it's wonders, but about negative things like invasive plant life killing the island, poverty, political strife, blight, bad drivers on the road (yes, he'd talk to them over the speaker as though they could hear him), his personal history (including bad relationships), and just about anything else that came to his mind. He didn't stop talking for even 10 seconds through this entire 5-hour+ drive. The lunch stop was horrible; we had bad service, long wait for food, and no time to eat once food finally came. Numerous passengers complained. Oh, and I learned quickly that when Mark said, "this is not a politically correct but", that something offensive was about to be said through speakers above every seat. And he did not disappoint. Like Megan H., I felt as though we lost one entire day of our vacation. Skip this one!!! read more
