I am so glad I went on this tour!! One of my favorite things that I did on Kauai! It was just my husband and me on this one hour plane tour. Our pilot was friendly and knowledgeable, sharing information about the different sites we visited. We traveled to all of the important and beautiful areas of the island. We were able to see areas of the island that are only accessible via plane or boat such as the Na Pali Coast. The plane was comfortable, spacious and the ride was so smooth. I think this was a better choice than a helicopter because there was no middle seat and did not feel claustrophobic. My husband sat up front next to the pilot. I sat right behind my husband. I liked that the tour was around the entire island. Our pilot asked us if there was anywhere special we wanted to visit. I like that it wasn't a cookie cutter tour.

This plane ride was such an amazing experience! We had Shadoan as our pilot and he was amazing flying and talking about everything we were seeing. The whole trip was so much more than we expected and our pictures turned out amazing.

We had seen Waimea canyon from water (catamaran) and from driving in and hiking but the views from above of Kauai were out of this world. It was one of my favorite activities on the trip. I recommend it!! I was worried about motion sickness given the small plane but the flight itself was so smooth. Everything was wonderful!

Nice people welcomed us. Check in was smooth and quick. Asa was an amazing pilot! He was super super nice and enageged every second during the tour. His music selection was super! We had a great time looking down the whole island!

Great way to see parts of Hawaii that is very difficult to get to: Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon, Jurassic Falls, etc. Our pilot (Shaedan) bot only dud a great job piloting the plane, but he was in regular communication with all the passengers during the trip explaining the site below. Although we prepare for a bumpy flight with some nausea meds, our entire flight was extremely smoothies and much smoothies than our commercial flight to Kauai! All 4 of us checked in at the terminal about 20 minutes earlier than our reservation and we were actually wheels up early with an overall flight time of about 50 minutes. Check in was easy, flight was smoothies and the view were amazing - and the weather was amazing on the day we flew. One obviously caution: seeing beautiful from a fixed wings is amazing, but you obviously don't get as low or as close as you would in a helicopter tour, but the fixed wings is about a third of the price.

Me and my husband had fun here on our honeymoon! He was apprehensive since he doesn't like small planes and I was excited since I love planes, but we ended up having a good time. Unfortunately I did get motion sickness, which I was not expecting since I fly and go on boats often and typically have no issues, but they were prepared on the plane with cold towels, water, and bags and even made sure I got ginger ale on the ground. Josh our guide was awesome. Would highly recommend, just make sure you take Dramamine or bring ginger chews or ale with you because you may get motion sickness even if you are a frequent flyer or normally ok like me! And eat a light breakfast.

Our highlight best of 5 tours we did on vaca! shaedan (best pilot ever) & debra were great! Smooth plane ride with unbelievable views & Shaedan shared great info, knowledge & love of island - highly recommend

Gorgeous views of the island, even if it's a cloudy day. Highly recommend seeing Kauai from the air if you have a chance. Everyone on staff was very kind and our pilot did an amazing job both flying and narrating!

View from the sky of Kauai!

I had a wonderful experience/flight with Air Ventures. Really cool way to see ALL of Kauai! Nic was an excellent pilot and tour guide.

Our experience with air ventures was great! They ask you to show up 30 minutes early for the check in process but it really did not take that long. They have a nice waiting area with bathrooms in the check in building. Because you are inside a small plane and it is not an open door tour, you do not need to worry about getting cold. I was wore a tank top and shorts and was comfortable the whole ride. You can bring your hat and sunglasses if you please. The plane is very small and carries up to six passengers per tour. It is pretty shaky, but not too bad! (I normally get carsick, and towards the end of the tour did start to get a little nauseous, so just FYI.) Our pilot was very friendly, and answered all our questions throughout the tour. I was a little bummed that we stayed pretty high up throughout the entire tour. We noticed another air ventures plane got almost 1000 feet below us. We could barely see Jurassic falls (see pic)! The overall plane ride was approximately 40 minutes. It goes by really fast and the views of the coastline is breathtaking. This is definitely a must do when you are in Kauai, since most of the island is not accessible by land. I did appreciate this pilots care for safety but I was expecting a little more out of the experience.

We waited for our timeslot at picnic benches under a roofed area. Boarding the boat was easily accessed down a ramp, and helping hands were available to step onto and down into the benched seating area. Along the journey, our narrator was full of interesting information, facts, trivia, and sprinkled it all with fun-loving doses of humor. There was also vibe-setting live music. We watched kayakers paddle down river as we enjoyed the ease of working our way upriver. Once we arrived at the grotto dock, everyone disembarked and took a short walk up along a smooth path. A side path led off to restrooms. The beautiful jungle foliage was all around us. Tall trees, long vines, and bird song surrounded us we walked up to the viewing platform of the grotto. Once there, the ancient and more recent history and cultural significance of the grotto was shared with us. Additionally, we were treated to beautiful traditional music played at weddings, of which they are a venue. Again, the information was fascinating. The grotto itself is a cave opening at the base of a cliff face. A stream of water flows over the top, feeding into a creek, and ferns grow out from all the crevices. It is a very serene place filled with the gentle sound of running water. On the way back, we were again treated to the talented musicians' playing, singing, and hula dancing. A tip jar was available. Disembarkation was very smooth. I really enjoyed the entirety of the trip. I felt like it was a great value for the ticket price. I would certainly recommended this to anyone who enjoys easy-access to nature and traditional and cultural insight.

Great machines, well cared for, and the planned paths just amazing. Fun, rugged, but safe. We saw amazing sights, had so much fun zipping down some rocky, muddy trails, and covered tons of beautiful acres. Ending at the final waterfall and having a chance to jump in was so special. Price was $250 per person and we booked a couple days before the tour date. (we went at the end of March - the weather was fantastic and not too hot, also not raining). Although it was pricey, I felt like it was worth the experience and highly recommend anyone do a tour, even if it's not with this company. We got back to shore around 7-7:30pm, so total time was 5 hours ish. Pros: - the Na Pali coast is BEAUTIFUL - the views were truly a once in a life time experience for me and I saw the fullest rainbow I've ever seen - The tour guide was super informative, we learned a lot about whales, and they also taught us a lot about certain mountains and waterfalls that we passed on the Na Pali Coast (like where Kauai kings were buried). - We stopped to watch whales multiple times and it was really cool! - The 3 staff working on board the ship were extremely helpful in answering questions, providing drinks, and instructing people from a safety perspective - Safety - I felt very well taken care of the whole time. It's a barefoot cruise but people can choose to keep their shoes on if they want. They provided bags for people feeling nauseous and gave good advice when people were feeling seasick. - Food provided - it's not fine dining or anything (chicken teriyaki, salad, etc) but it does beat having to pack your own food or go hungry around dinner time. Also unlimited alcohol or nonalcoholic drinks. - The staff helped us take photos and there's a lot of great photo opportunities at the coast - Champagne toast at sunset, which was beautiful to watch out on the water - bathrooms available on board - My husband didn't feel like eating on board due to the motion sickness so they were kind enough to pack a to-go box for us! - Parking was easy and the meet up location was easy to find - we stood outside for most of the ride since it felt better than sitting inside, so we did get a bunch of sea-spray and got super wet from the 10 ft swells, but it felt really fun! Cons: - I think they need to put a huge disclaimer with statistics or something to show people how common it is for people to get seasick and vomit. I think maybe 5 people from our whole boat got really sick and either fell or vomited during the trip (can feel a little weird enjoying the beautiful view while someone smells like vomit next to you lol). They do tell you at the beginning that you can walk away and get a full refund after hearing the captain briefing during the meet up starting spot, but I don't think they really emphasize just how many people get sick. I personally felt fine but I felt really bad for people who had to gut through the five hour round trip feeling terrible. bring Dramamine!! This was definitely a highlight of my first time in Kauai, I wouldn't necessarily do it more than once due to the price, but it was a fantastic experience for the views!

And let me tell you, it will not disappoint! It is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. Our tour guide Brooke was outstanding in teaching us all there was to learn about Kaua'i cacao beans, the fermentation process, incredible chocolate tasting notes, and other fruits and nuts that are unique to Kaua'i and Hawai'i. I am not a "chocolate person", and while I only attended this tour out of admiration for the cacao bean and chocolate making process, I must say Lydgate's chocolate is truly unique and worth the visit. It is unlike any other chocolate I have ever tasted. Lydgate Farms' other products-- honeys, chocolate covered macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans-- are incredible as well. My personal favorites were the honey roasted macadamia nuts and chocolate covered coffee beans, which I bought. In addition to the extraordinary tour (thank you Brooke!! Seriously, you are fantastic!!) and souvenirs we enjoyed, one of the more memorable parts of this whole experience was hitching a ride back to our hotel in Lihue from Lydgate's Marvelous Maintenance Guy, Mike. Mike saw me and my mom struggling to get a Lyft back and offered us a ride back. A journey that would have taken us 5 hours to walk became a precious 25 ish minute drive where we got to both share our stories about what led us to Kaua'i. Mike was so sweet, he made me and my mom feel so safe-- especially as two young women traveling by ourselves for the first time. It is welcoming and kind people like Mike who put the "ohana" in the "Lydgate Farms Ohana" name and make Kaua'i what it is. He informed us on what was edible from the trees. The "pit stops" were interactive, fun & most of all tasty. We got to sample a whole variety of exotic fruits from the farm & a wide range of chocolate during the chocolate tasting. I don't think I will ever be able to think of chocolate in the same way again. How lucky we are to have this farm working so hard to not only bring the craft of chocolate creation to more people but continuing to mindfully curate this bio-diverse plant sanctuary.
