These 30% ruin it, unfortunately. Marketing is not in line with reality when it comes down to personal care and attention. Foodservice has a couple caring ladies but I assume they are trying to fight against a particular ignorant influence. Menu looks better on paper than what is placed in front of the resident. Some days we were there, the aides were embarrassed about what was placed in front of the residents. Laziness and a lack of concern was in charge of the food those days. Severe neglect can be a regular occurrence, and for that reason we cut ties very quickly and found a much better place for our loved one. Management downplays failures. They have no protocol in place for when staff calls in sick. The off going staff just leave and not even management will come in to cover shortage... leaving hours when no one is on the floor to care for your loved one. Unfortunately, there is a ghetto and extremely lazy attitude going on among those 30% and food service folks. Really bad non caring ignorance. The activity director is amazing and very caring. Angela, a supervisor, is a wonderful caring person but has some bad apples she has to try and make things work with. Unfortunately the business manager who hires has no concern for training new hires. All she cares about is her 9-5 in my observation.

There was a smile at every turn and the Clinical manager, Tracey, was so knowledgeable and well-versed is the needs of her residents. I moved here a month ago and it's been an awful experience…read more The unit was filthy: urine and feces all over the toilet. The toilet itself was unflushed. Grout was all over the floor, the bath exhaust fan was crammed with dust, the front screen door wouldn't close. The bedroom door plate was installed too high, and so the bedroom door wouldn't close. The hot water was off, the shower was hanging, unattached to the wall mount. I mad 3 calls to maintenance to have my "running" toilet fixed. They never fixed it. A week later, I went to Home Depot bought a toilet repair kit and had it fixed in 5 minutes. The heat in the unit stopped working. I called the so called "manager" Mimi who said she'd put in a work order. Mind you, it's winter in Michigan and "no heat" is considered an emergency. When I left in the morning the temperature inside was 67 degrees. When I returned around 4:30 pm, the temperature was 64 degrees. I called the office, no answer. I left a voicemail and explained it was an "emergency." I called back, she hung up on me. I went to the office in-person, where she stammered excuses. I told her I'm totally fed up with this place. Our family placed our mother in Grace Senior Living expecting basic safety, dignity, and…read moreresponsible oversight. Instead, what we experienced left us heartbroken, frustrated, and ultimately fearful for her wellbeing. We had multiple meetings with management about her care plan, her daily needs, and the fact that she was a known fall risk (she was a dementia memory care resident) We made her needs very clear, repeatedly. Yet her care plan was rarely followed, and vital information was not passed down to the staff, or completely ignored by those who were supposed to be caring for her. Watching this play out time after time was devastating. Our biggest struggle was with management. Our interactions with Kim Briley, one of the owners, were discouraging and dismissive. Instead of responsibility or solutions, we were met with excuses and comments that made us lose confidence in the facility's leadership. She told us directly that many of her staff were lazy, improperly trained, or didn't have a high school education. She also made the comment that "they can't be watching her 24/7," which felt like a complete disregard for the fact that we were paying for supervision, safety, and adherence to her care plan -- especially given her being documented as late stage dementia and a fall risk. Amid the chaos, a few staff members stood out for their genuine compassion: Jessica, Tiffany, Colette, Christina, and Kiera. They cared about our mother and tried their best despite the lack of support and structure from management. They were the few bright spots in an otherwise deeply disappointing experience. The breaking point -- the moment we will never forget -- was when our mother fell and fractured her hip. In our view, this was preventable had her care plan been followed and communicated properly. After everything we had voiced and tried to address, this outcome was devastating. Obviously there was an ambulance ride to the ER followed by surgery and rehab. We removed our mom from Grace immediately. Not once did Kim reach out to check on Mom. Another disheartening find was learning that the facility is not even licensed by the State of Michigan! This only added to the pain and regret we felt. We trusted Grace Senior Living with someone we love dearly. That trust was broken. Based on our experience, we cannot and will not recommend this facility to any family seeking consistent safe, reliable, or compassionate care.

What really stands out are the activities--there's always something going on, and it's clear they put real thought into keeping residents engaged, active, and social. My mom genuinely looked forward to participating and always had something fun to talk about afterward. Most of all, the staff is incredible. Every single person we interacted with was kind, patient, and truly caring. You can tell they don't just "do a job"--they really care about the residents and treat them like family. My elderly mother was very happy during her time there, and as a family, we felt so supported and at ease knowing she was in such good hands. I'm very grateful for all the amazing people at Grace Senior Living and everything they do every day.

My sister who has ALS was brought here from the hospital based on a social worker recommendation as a good place to rehab after breaking her ankle. While PT and OT worked within her physical limitations no one ever knew when they would be coming. There is no schedule or feed back unless you happen to catch them with resident The nurses were pathetic. Of the 3 weeks she was there I can only count one instance where the nurse extended any hands on care to her. That nurse was a midnight shift nurse who had 30+ years of experience. Nurses distributed medication only and not in a timely manner. If meds were ordered for morning it was not unusual to receive them in late afternoon or not at all. Multiple times pain meds or regular scheduled meds when ask when she would receive them was answered with the "I'm busy and I'll try to get to her soon" Aides were deplorable . My sister was told many times to not ring for help between the hours of 4-6pm as they were too busy handing out trays and feeding people. With my sisters ALS somedays her arms could not move to feed herself. On those days her food tray was left on table with no help in sight. There was actually one aide who cried the whole time she gave my sister a bed bath - seriously wept. Call buttons go unanswered for an hour or more. Aides will come into room ask what you want and then leave for 2-3 hours. Honestly they would only help if family was standing there demanding help We had to hire people to come daily to help my sister with simple task and so that person could get help from staff for my sister and feed her. There was at least 4 residents who had outside help come in. If we would of known that they were not family members while touring that would of diverted us to another rehab facility immediately HUGE RED FLAG Up until my sister broke her ankle she was able to walk a few steps and sit in wheelchair due to her ALS It was her hope that this facility could help her learn how to transfer to wheel chair and hopefully her ankle would heal while there. None of that happened. Without outside help and occasional help from OT or PT she would of sat in bed 24/7 We brought these issues to the assistant director of nursing attention and she actually witnessed personally the deplorable condition my sister was left in after the aides put her in bed without having her breathing machine on, the tray table across the room so no access to call button or water and dirty linens left on floor Her answer was to hand the family a complaint form Don't be fooled by the staff schedule in front lobby- it was infrequent that people scheduled were actually there Terri the corporate person who toured us before admission told many lies. She had no knowledge of staff to patient ratios and answered many questions with "I'm just filling in here and don't know how it works in this facility" We should of ran then . Don't let the nice surroundings fool you if you want your loved one to heal and be cared for in a human way.
