Winnie is our baby, no doubt about it. She's a special little dog with some very special needs. She has only one eye, having lost the other to glaucoma. She is pretty much blind in the remaining eye as well. Her world is experienced through sound and smell, so she's very attached to the familiar. In the past when forced to leave her for a period of time, we have always left her with our daughter. So when a family occasion approached in which all members of the family would be attending, I was forced to look into boarding my baby for a week. We looked on several review sites and finally settled on PPL. I figured at the very least she would be safe. I never expected her to be happy! When my husband dropped her off he was given the option of purchasing extra treats to make her stay more special. We're told she loved the grilled burger! We also purchased a complete grooming for her last day there. We were given a great report when we picked her up a week later. They told us that she was shy for a few days, and that eventually she passed their temperament test and was able to play safely with the other small dogs. Winnie has never made friends with other dogs, but apparently she felt safe enough at PPL to let her guard down and even make friends. The grooming we booked did not disappoint. She has been rejected by groomers in the past for her "kennel phobia" and bite history, but the staff at PPL said she was no trouble at all! Talk about a staff that understands dogs! I don't enjoy leaving her for any reason, but I can say that when we dropped her off earlier today, the staff greeted her by name, and she went happily with the girl to her room for the weekend. Thank you, PPL,on behalf of Winnie and her "parents" for providing such great accommodations. It's a relief to know that spa days and play dates are now a part of our dog's life! read more

I have been taking my dog, Guinness, to Pompano Pet Lodge for over 7 years and I don't know what I would do without them. I am not exaggerating. I travel frequently for work and my main stress when I travel is that Guinness is being well taken care of. With PPL, I know he is. Keep in mind, I don't consider my dog an "easy" dog. He can be a little grouchy every now and then (just like people!) and PPL realizes that all dogs have different personalities and is well equipped to deal with that. In the first few years, he was signed up for the play sessions with all the dogs but as he got older, the staff let me know that he did not appear comfortable with the energy of the other dogs. So they suggested a different package which allowed for more one-on-one time and private walks. That has worked wonderfully and I always get good reports when I pick him up. The staff is always accommodating and seems to care about every animal they care for. I have read the other reviews with some making disparaging comments about the care. I couldn't disagree more. Yes, your pet could pick up anything when socializing with other dogs but I have to say, I have NEVER had a problem with any disease in my 7+ years of boarding at PPL. I do make sure all his vaccinations (including Bordetella) and flea and tick preventatives are up to date so that might have something to do with it. I would always suggest that if boarding your pet is something you have to do on a regular basis, you have to make sure your own pet is protected. If Guinness could review PPL, I think he would also give it 5 stars based on his reaction when I say "We're going to Pompano Pet Lodge". He even perks up when I say some of the staffs' names! That's the most important review, in my mind. He is so excited whenever we drive up to the facility and it makes it a just a bit easier having to leave him when I know he is happy to be there and well taken care of. I still hate it every time I have to leave my pup but with PPL, at least I have peace of mind that he is with competent and caring professionals. read more

Its very hard to find clean, dependable pet boarding. I have been going to Pompano Pet for the last 7 years. Before them, I tried other cheaper facilities, but my dogs both got kennel cough. They are very popular and used to be always booked around the holidays. That was resolved after they implemented a $50 non-refundable deposit during peak periods. They might not have crystal chandeliers, but they have a great staff of people taking care of your dogs. We did a lot of research before choosing a place to board our Beagles. We chose this place we met the manager, took a quick tour and decided it was what we wanted...because of the indoor/outdoor feature with a/c and camera. Every time we took a break from our vacay we checked the cameras..it was very comforting to see how they cared for them. Don't hesitate to try this place..others may be fancier, but this place takes great care with your babies. We already booked again! read more

Great place for doggie daycare. I have been bringing my dog to Pompano Pet Lodge for almost a year. When I travel I also board him here since he gets to spends 3-4 hours in the park every day. He really loves to come here and the handlers and office staff are amazing. I trust that Jack is in good hands. My dog came back from his stay with a nasty skin infection. No one there noticed that he catched that infection there and he was suffering ( he had patches with blood that were not noticed by the people who gave him the mandatory exit bath). We didn't receive back the toys that we took with him for his stay, we called the place to let them know what we were missing and they said they we were going to receive them by mail ( I have been waiting that for months). read more

My furbabies are the most important thing to me and leaving them for boarding was really stressing me out but the Pet Lodge really went above and beyond to make me feel at ease! Because we booked boarding in advance, my dogs both were given a free day of daycare which was awesome so they would know this was a place to have fun, not to be scared. I appreciate the care and love Rex and Ruby got while in boarding. Nikki and Angie really were the MVPs for making me aware of how they were doing in boarding. I really appreciate you girls! I am not one to write reviews but i do read them and know the importance of them and its why I am writing this one. Let me start by saying that most everybody at the Lodge treated us very well and seemed to be kind to Max (Short for Maximus Decimus Meridius) he is a 11 month old English bulldog that i got for my wife about 8 months ago so we basically have become very attached to him being our first dog but we know he is a handful he is full of energy even though english bulldogs are supposed to be a little more tame he is still super friendly and playful. The first time we took Max to the PPL things went OK and he seemed to be happy and even though he was sick from a cold for a week I thought it was normal and we were please to have found a place were we could leave him but that is where it ended, about three weeks later we left max there for 4 nights and came to pick him up on a monday at which time the front desk lady informed me that Max had played a lot and that he liked to play rough but overall he was a happy puppy and had behaved they even told me that he had found a female pet friend so we were exited and happy to see our boy so when the trainer brought him and I saw him. I immediately knew something was wrong and upon petting him I realized that he had a scar in his neck it looked like a bite but I am not an expert so I asked the trainer about it and she kind of brushed it off and said that It was probably a heat lesion and said that they can present themselves rather quickly so I decided to just take her for her word and took him home but as soon as i got in my car i inspected him better and i could see dry blood and scratches that had been there at least 48 hrs, now i am not a Vet but I am a Dr and I can see that it was more than a heat lesion, also there was a tick right on top of his head and he had about 5 bites on top of his head were you could see the tick had been going to town, needless to say I was very disappointed and immediately called the lady that had helped me at the front desk and told her everything i saw and she was really lost and said that since she had not seen the dog then she really couldn't comment on it. supposedly the dog got a bath but they didnt notice the scars on his neck and the tick on his head ???? I understand if you tell me that the dog was playing and another dog scratched him or bit him or whatever, but to just simply not know what happened and brush it off or to lie is really unacceptable, we will never take our dog to the PPL again, its been a week and we are still removing scabs from his neck and they didnt see it?? yeah right pet owners beware read more

We brought our 3 dogs to Pompano Pet Lodge on the Wednesday before the Labor Day weekend, and picked them up the Tuesday after Labor Day. On that day we saw that our mini-dachshund was coughing and wheezing. We took her to our vet who diagnosed her with "kennel cough (KC)." I called PPL and had an opportunity to speak with the manager, Natalie. She told me that she was sorry that our dog had kennel cough, but given that they boarded 200 dogs over the weekend something like that could be expected to occur. She did tell me that our dog brought the number of KC cases in dogs boarded that weekend to 4. I should now note that my other 2 dogs have KC -- so 6 dogs boarded at PPL last weekend have KC. What upset me about Natalie's response was that while she said she was sorry our dog got KC at their facility,her attitude was that it should be considered as an acceptable risk of dog boarding and not their responsibility. That would be as if you ate at a restaurant, got food poisoning , and the manager said " sorry, but you should have known that you could get food poisoning and we have no responsibility.". And the fact that now 6 dogs have KC..... I would also like to note that we paid to have our mini- dachshund's anal glands emptied during her stay. When we took her to the vet he told us her anal glands were completely filled and emptied them. When I asked Natalie about this she told me they empty the anal glands " from the outside" -- they do not empty them internally by inserting a finger into the anus to ensure the glands are emptied. She did offer to credit the $12 fee to a future stay. Given that our vet bills for treating the 3 dogs is over $200 --- and we spent nearly $500 on boarding fees.... our distress with PPL should be understandable. In light of the above we will never use PPL again. And I would recommend that if you are considering using PPL that you factor our experience into your decision. read more

Highly recommend this facility. Staff are very helpful, facility is clean, animals are happy, and our great dane is ACTUALLY tired when she comes home. Notes are taken daily for each visit, baths for day care are not mandatory, and I enjoy the snapchats. Have not boarded overnight yet, but I wouldn't hesitate. read more

Best of the best dog kennel. Our dogs were comfortable in the indoor/outdoor large kennels, loved the play in the fenced grass area, loved the doggie pool and the treats. Their prices are reasonable, include dog play (can choose a private walk if you prefer) and open to bringing your own food or chews if you like. Nice staff and lovers of dogs you can tell. They do have a mandatory doggie bath before you pick them up but it is reasonably priced. Our dogs were calm when we picked them up and almost seemed sad to leave. I just wish there were more of these kennels all around America. We travel and one of the hardest things is finding a great home for our dogs when we must leave them. I am a very hard person to please, especially when it comes to my dog. I have been taking her here for several weeks now for daycare services. The staff is great, very accommodating, friendly and helpful! They offer online webcams which is nice if you want to check on your pet. They are Very interactive with your pet and ensure they play with dogs that your dog prefers to be around. I have a female yellow lab, who is also a service animal. She tends to do better with smaller dogs as she is a bit of a whimp at times and doesn't do well with all big dogs- the at Pompano Pet Lodge realized that and placed her accordingly. They give you daily reports as well on any issues or problems with your pet. Highly recommend this place! read more

I had to find a place for my cat last minute when I had to travel over a weekend, the pet lodge let me come in and drop Harvey off same day and it's only $16/night with food included. They stay in these huge cat condos with toys and a bed. I was extremely satisfied knowing my cat was treated well and knowing where he was sleeping while I was gone. I definitely prefer this to any pet sitter I've had. read more

I can't say enough good things about PPL. Between my family and my parents we have 5 dogs that go to daycare from 2-6 days a week. From the very first day, the staff made our pups feel at home and made us feel like we were part of the PPL family. The handlers get to know the dogs on a personal level and make sure they are enjoying their time there. Since we started taking our dogs to PPL, their attitudes have changed for the better and they wake us up each morning begging to go to school! This place is great! My dog Maggie absolutely loves going to daycare here! When i pick her up its like a kid leaving disney land. Shes happy as can be, tired from playing all day, and just wants to eat dinner and relax on the couch with me. She is a puppy and full of energy, so this is great for me when i work long hours. As soon as we pull up in the morning maggie knows where we are and is ready to jump out of the car window and scale the fence to go into their outdoor play area with the other dogs. I cannot speak highly enough about this place! I am a crazy dog mom and I thought my dogs would absolutely hate this place because normally my lab rescue has major leash aggression. After multiple conversations with Nikki and Angie, they had earned my trust enough to 'try a camp day'. With access to Snapchat, I was able to see how well my two dogs did during the morning play. I was beyond shocked and overjoyed that they were having a blast!! My two dogs have now been to day camp multiple times. Although I was OK with the dog camp, I wasn't ready for an overnight. Again, reassured by Staff (Nikki & Angie mainly)...we tried it. I was struggling not knowing how my pups were doing on the first overnight. I texted Angie later that night to please check on them via camera. She immediately texted me a picture of my boys sleeping soundly. This is above & beyond any reasonable expectation! I boarded my cat here for a weekend. I was slightly worried at first since it seems to be primarily a dog place. However, the staff are very friendly & seemed to be experienced with handling cats as well as dogs. The entire facility is very clean. My cat has stayed at a lot of different pet hotels over the years & he usually wants nothing to do with the staff at other facilities. At this place he was really relaxed the whole time & didn't seem stressed at all when I picked him up. They even sent me a text during my trip letting me know how he was doing. This will be the first review I have ever written because you need to be aware of where you are sending your dog. I researched places for our 8 month old puppy to stay for a few weeks. I wanted to make sure she was staying at a healthy clean place in a safe environment. We drove to pompano pet lodge to make sure it was an acceptable place to send our dog. We even sent her there for one day to make sure there were no problems. After our spring break vacation of 6 days we picked Lexi up and found massive amounts of built up mucus in both eyes. I immediately went back in the office and asked someone to come out and look at lexis eyes. The employee said they had just given Lexi a bath yesterday and that her eyes were probably irritated. According to the vet my dog had an upper respiratory infection. No one at pompano pet lodge noticed she was sneezing and had tons of mucus in both eyes. Needless to say after hundreds of dollars in nebulizer treatments and antibiotics we will never be back. They also refused to help with any vet bills. This is not my first dog or pet lodge and in 12 years I have never had a problem like this. Beware read more

Never again will I ever leave my dogs at Pompano pet lodge again! After leaving my dogs at pompano pet lodge about three months ago one of them came Home with kennel cough and conjunctivitis. We spoke to management about it and they credited us back our vet bill of about $150 on our next visit while we weren't happy about the whole situation but we excepted it and wrote it off as just one bad experience after leaving our dogs there for the last 15 years. Well we had to go out of town again and we trusted them with our dogs again and they both came home with kennel cough and conjunctivitis again! Well after about a month of treatment one of them still has a croupy cough that just won't go away and it this point we are done with Pompano Pet lodge! Not to mention I should've known better when I was dropping them off for the second visit there was a little yellow lab puppy leaving with pus in his eyes and coughing what was I thinking to do this to my boys again but I didn't have a choice... I would think twice before leaving your dogs there if you care about their health... read more

I highly recommend Pompano Pet Lodge! The entire staff are so caring with my Gigi and all of the animals there, and all so nice to us humans too! The front desk never rushes you and is always there to answer questions and listen to any of your concerns no matter how nuerotic your questions are, and let's face it when it comes to our "babies" you know how we all can be. I don't understand why a bath is Mandatory?! What the hell??? If I know that my dog does not like baths, I should be able to sign a waiver to opt out of them giving him a bath. My dog does not like being separated from us as is so why would I want to make him even more uncomfortable by giving him a bath? I don't think it should be mandatory!
