So, here some truths to be fair. He's right about speed, Robert is slow. Robert takes his time and does the job right and that's why he won best shop of 2024. Furthermore, this guy sounds like a huge pain in the ass as a customer. I think anyone reading this would understand sometimes stuff doesn't just go the way it needs to in order to just have a car fixed in one day, Robert would never do anything to hurt anyone. So a little back story first, i…read moretook my old 05 Buick Rainer suv to McKinney's Auto Repair that I used in the past that I trusted and had faith in being a good person. The shop owner and I had no issues in the past and in fact he put in parts in my older car and didn't charge me for them due to it not fixing the underlying issue. Fast forward to today, I brought my GFs car to the same shop on Friday the 17th of January and informed them that I just wanted to find out the issue with the heat but I wanted to be informed on the plan to fix it before any further repairs were done. Was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it and thought it just needed the heater core flushed. Me working on cars in the past whenever I've needed to. Knew how to flush the heater core myself. The picture of the two hoses are the two needed to take off In order to flush the heater core. The job should have taken no longer than an hr to do, but I was charged for two hrs instead. Now here's the issues, I told them I needed the car back asap and that I couldn't really afford to let the car stay any longer than a day because it was a daily driven vehicle. I was informed by Bobby the shop owner that they would be able to get to it fast if I was to drop it off early in the morning when they opened up. So I did! But was told it wouldn't be done and flushed by the end of day so I didn't get the car back until the day after! So Saturday comes along and I get a text saying the heater core flush didn't work and that the heater core itself needed to be fixed instead. Me being frustrated because of course the issue was never fixed and no parts were added to the car and they were late already but still charged me! Which was totaled out to 165. I paid for this the day before on Friday ahead of time so I could just pick it up on Saturday or later that day Friday without having to deal with anything from them or them having to be there on their day off, out of consideration to them. But when me and my Gf got there the keys weren't in the car, after calling them multiple times after being texted the flush didn't work. I got no answer or text reply back! I was at a stand still cause no one was at the shop and we lived an hr away in Indy. So we left for about a half hr and then came back. But the shop employees or Bobby still weren't there when we arrived for the 2nd time! I called again and then sent a picture of the car you see above sitting at his shop to him. Some employees then shortly arrived after a few minutes but acted like they knew nothing about what was going on and didn't even know the payments for the work was already paid for. So there was a lack of communication and When i asked what their shop rate was to the employee of Bobby's he informed me he didn't know. So i expressed to him the job itself to flush the heater core should have Taken no more than an hr to do. The employee scuffed at me and called up Bobby, I also expressed that i should be compensated for the issue not being fixed in some way. Because I felt that to be the right thing to do. When I brought and expressed my concerns up to the employee and Bobby they acted like they didn't care and that regardless if it was fixed or not the work was done on it. Which i understand but any good hearted person would have tried to make it right regardless. When i realized nothing was going to be offered to make it right i then told Bobby to keep the money and i was going to go else where. When this was said to Bobby his employee gave me the biggest smile in return. The professionalism that I got from them this time made me feel like in the past with my old Buick maybe the professionalism I had thought I got from them was possibly all a hoax. I put so much money and effort to have them fix my Buick time and time again only for Bobby later to tell me my car was trashed after taking it there one day and coincidentally he offered to buy it from me. You can make up your own opinion and not take mine into consideration but Needless to say I don't recommend going here! unless you want to be charged double and want to be scammed!

I was told there would be a 2 day turnaround at drop off. A week later I call becuase I haven't heard a word and I was told they didn't know what was needed and lost the piece of paper on it. Told them again, and the next day I call to check on it, I was told no one would replace the clutch, so I needed a whole transmission replacement. Guy told me he had 2 available and the car would be done Friday (this was on a monday.) Friday rolls around, no call, no answer when I called repeatedly throughout the day. Called again on Tuesday and I was told THey couldn't find a transmission by the guy that "runs the office". Wait you told me a week ago you had found not one, but two available..... Nope denied that. I go to the shop after not getting a call back from the owner as requested. Same office guy tells me owner is not there. I ask for owner to be called. It is 2:45 in the afternoon, he calls owner waking her up. Tells her he has no idea why I am upset. I repeatedly ask to speak to the owner, he finally puts her on speaker. I run down what has transpired and that I've now been lied to repeatedly and no communication for about 2 weeks on this car that is my military son's car. I ask her if this is how she treats all our military and she yells at me that she has 3 military sons and I can take that comment and shove it somewhere else. I asked her if she wants to say that to a veteran too, and go get my relative from outside in the vehicle. She refuses to talk to him, refuses to own any of the issues. I go out to start the car and it will not start at all. I look at the office kid and ask him why it isn't starting when it was running. He mouths off about it, I said well here then you start it and he starts yelling f this f that, I'm not fing touching that thing.... I call a wrecker to pick it up. Kid lies to the wrecker driver as well telling him he offered to start the car for me, but I refused, which is a straight and blatant lie, with witnesses! I would not take my worst enemies car here. Far as I am concerned they owe me a wrecker bill!

This level of service is normally very thorough and comes at a premium. My expectation, given the stated estimated cost, was that all the basics would be attended to but they were not; There was no oil/filter change (how more basic can it get)? The steering hydraulic oil had not been changed or even topped up. The cooling system had not been flushed (I requested that in particular). The wiper fluid had not been topped up. The fuel filter had not been changed. I supplied the plugs (duly noted to them) but they remained unused on the passenger seat. They did run a check on the undercarriage and informed me that a wheel bearing and lower ball-joints need to be replaced soon. I appreciated that. What I think happened was that the special requests for cooling system flush, new plugs (supplied) and HT cables, serpentine belt, A/C check and refrigerant top-up and all new filters somehow caused the basic 200k service to be overlooked. To their credit, they did change the oil and filter without charge before I left. The shop was modern, clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and I'm sure that on a different day the service would have been properly completed. Stuff happens sometimes! I have three vehicles and I may give them the next upcoming service to see if they can earn the full 5 stars. My credentials: Automotive and Marine Fuel Injection Engineer, Mechanical Engineer (Ret).

Went in to address an alignment issue and some how came back with a $3400 invoice. Their strategy: overwhelm you with vanity repairs, conduct services without your confirmed consent, and leave you with a hefty bill all while never actually fixing your vehicle. The icing on the cake is they drove my car for an hour as part of a "diagnostic test". As far as I know this was a joy ride across town because I was suddenly missing a quarter of a tank of gas which of course I was not compensated for. I have CD's and a player in my vehicle. When I returned from my service not only were there visible damages to the front wheel but a CD was taken out from the player, thrown in the back seat, and the radio was on with the new CD playing! Surely that takes 8 hours and hundreds of dollars in repairs to complete. PLEASE go down the road to JTR Repair in Lebanon. They are communicative, reasonable, and offer discounts where applicable.

A very kind woman who worked the hotel desk ran and got the hotel's heavy-duty compressor and filled our tire with air. She said that we could go just down the street to Neal Tire for the tire repair. Neal tire had a parking lot full of automobiles (waiting to be serviced?) and was experiencing a very busy day. The woman who managed the office assured us that they could fit us in for the flat tire fix. Sure enough, within an hour they had fixed our flat! We are so appreciative of this kind woman's compassion on us, and for the mechanic that performed the quick repair! We drove back to Chicago and experienced no further issue with the repaired tire. I wanted to leave a review after my visit there today, because of how the owner/operator (forget his name at the moment) treated two elderly customers while I waited. Both of them were relying on their new/modern cars electronics and just going by what the car dealer had told them. He patiently showed one gentleman the color of his oil when he was waiting as long as the car dealer told him to wait between oil changes (some crazy high # of miles), and recommended a change to his cycle. Later he came back to the elderly lady who was waiting and said she had brought the car in 1,000 miles too early and wondered if she might want to drive it a bit longer before having it changed. She agreed that she did, and he said he would still take care of the routine check and top off all of the fluids for free while she was there. This made me feel really good about choosing them as my go-to place. The only thing he has ever recommended I purchase beyond the standard service was when my air filter was crazy bad, and he showed it to me so that I could decide without being at all pushy. Great establishment!!
