We were stuck in the mountains without service and when we arrived at 5 pm they had given our sites away. They stated they sent an email that said you had to call before 2pm to confirm your site. I found their said email and all it said was "if you are coming after 2pm give us a call, thanks!". I could not have called since I had no service but there should be a LARGE red warning saying if you arrive anytime after 2 and don't call us, then we will for sure give away your site. We had two rigs, six kids, and absolutely no where to go. On top of everything this campground was VERY deceiving as the pictures do NOT depict reality, the sites are literally on top of each other in a parking lot. Seriously a Walmart parking lot would have been nicer. In my opinion save your money and stay somewhere else. read more

Good price, very clean showers and bathrooms, nice laundry facilities, cute giftshop - VERY knowledgeable staff - knew tons about the activities in town, and were right on the money in terms of the best places. Walking distance to the Bufaalo Bill museum. The only drawbacks (and they were very minor) were the smaller campsites and the proximity to the main road, but once you have been around Cody, you will see that this is by far the BEST campground in town! Be sure to check your reservations often !!!! I made a reservation with the MANAGER of the place for 25 RV"s for 2020 and she took them but when I went to check on other things and started talking to her she said NO way for that week I had requested, four months after she agreed to the reservation. Now all the camp grounds are closed and not taking reservations for 2020 until January 2020. She put me in a pickle and doesn't care!! She dropped me like a hot potato. I have read other reviews that said this place didn't respect their reservations either! read more

Nice location. .. can walk to DQ for ice cream. .. this park is filled to capacity nearly every night... clears out in the morning. ..they definitely want a call if you are not going to arrive by 3:00 which can be a problem if you are up in yellowstone where cell service is spotty and you cannot guarantee a site with a credit card because they do not take credit cards... cash or check only... we were here for 6 nights and enjoyed our stay. ... showers and restroom was clean. ..staff was friendly. ..would stay again read more

We stayed here for three nights on our two week RV trip. The staff was super friendly and upon check-in the nice older lady gave us tons of info on things to do and places to eat. The grounds were nice but you are definitely packed in like sardines. It was super quiet though and we met a lot of nice travelers. The location is great. You can walk to the Buffalo Bill Center and if you don't mind a longer walk then you could walk to the downtown. You're also super close to the Cody Rodeo which I highly recommend. The only reason why I a, not giving it five stars is just because the RV spots were kind of weird. You're pretty close together and your neighbors hook ups are pretty much in your outside sitting area. Didn't bother us too much because we were gone a lot but it may bother others. read more

We stayed here while visiting Yellowstone. We called ahead to reserve a site. We arrived and the paperwork was right where they said it would be. The instructions were simple and easy which was so helpful because we arrived during a storm. The staff was very friendly. The campground was neat and clean. We were happy to find the Ponderosa campground, with two bed cabins just a bit down the street from the Buffalo Bill Center for the West. We fortunately had sleeping bags because bedding and towels were not provided. Two complaints....1) the wifi did not reach in the cabin we stayed at and 2) the ceiling fan did not appear to have been dusted for months. The campground had laundry facilities, a gift shop, two shared outdoor bathrooms usable for one person at a time (clean enough). We were fortunate to be treated to a complimentary "talk" with stories and visual aids about Mountain Men by a costumed mountain man/historian who had done original research on these legends of the west...The talk was REALLY interesting but there was no heat in the building where it was held...encouraging the audience to rush out as soon as the talk was complete. The manager charged $1 for a cup of uninspired coffee (I thought maybe it'd be complimentary) and he was defensive during checkout the next morning when I mentioned the internet issue, saying I must have done something wrong and did not offer to compensate me for any inconvenience. read more

You can not trust this campground to keep the commitment of your reservations for pull thrus. We booked five weeks in advance as we were traveling at peak season with friends who were new to pulling a fifth wheel and asked up to book only in campgrounds that gave us pull thrus. This was confirmed with them and yet when we arrived they only had two sites available that were around 12' x 25' for two 28 foot rigs that were back in only. I was in shock and we were forced to find other options way outside of town. Very disappointed and wasted a very precious half day of our trip. read more

Nice campground and pull through was long enough for our 65' overall length. Hookups did not reach so had to go buy another 20' of hose and if you need wi-if, no such luck. Was there 3 days and never able to connect. read more

We were rather surprised at the close proximity of the sites, but we got lucky with some really nice neighbors. The sites are nice and level with very mature trees that tower over your site. The staff at the store are absolutely kind and caring people. They would do anything to make your stay better. I didn't think the bathrooms were bad at all; and I consider myself a shower snob. If you are considering staying here while visiting Yellowstone Park, please know that it is 1 1/2 hours away to the first site in Yellowstones East Entrance. read more

The campground is clean, though the RV sites are narrow. Our site hookups were awful. Power kept going out, and the cable line was not functional. Probably the worst part was in the camp store/office when we had to listen to a political and racist diatribe from one of the camp managers. Will NEVER go back. read more

Planned on staying for 2 nights. We pulled in after Yellowstone and it was night. The office left our site number on the office door. After finding our site we couldn't back in the full depth because of a tree. We were okay with that but the spaces are so close that we couldn't open our door and get out of our RV without our steps pushing into the next sites picnic table that a bunch of bicycles were leaning on. We would have had to climb over a bunch of bikes to get in and out of the RV. No exaggeration!! We ended up sleeping in the Walmart parking lot and going to the other RV park in the morning at the other end of town. Staff that answered was really friendly and even the next morning when I phoned and told them we couldn't fit in the spot so we weren't going to stay there. The way the spaces are set up you're like sardines in a can tightly packed together in dirt spaces. This place is definitely about the more the more money in the pocket. So didn't get to see downtown Cody. Had planned on relaxing and hanging out at the RV park (been doing a lot of traveling) and the next day experiencing Cody museums, downtown, and rodeo. We have a 25' Winnebago View I would not recommend staying here unless you don't mind your neighbors literally on top of you. read more

I'm not sure where to start... our experience there was truly wonderful. The entire complex is extremely well taken care of the bathrooms laundry area and the grounds were always very clean and manicured and it's close to the Buffalo Bill museum and downtown. The greatest thing about this campground however is the staff they are by far the friendliest most helpful and caring group of people we have yet encountered in our travels. Excellent, well maintained park right in the heart of Cody. You can walk to most major attractions. Very short drive to others.

The Pondarosa campsite was one adventure to be a part of. The staff there were very nice respectful however the toilet paper roll in the bathroom was counterintuitive because the roll was very hard to pull and the toilet paper would break before you could get enough. Additionally there was a lock on the toilet paper as if people have been stealing it which is very shocking to me. The stalls were very short and very easy to just look over and see someone going to the bathroom. The showers are a bit small but had nice water pressure and hot water. We stayed at the campsites and they were very nice. Also, the grass was nice and green and clearly had been taken care of. There was also a game room at the campsite which I took full advantage of. It had a nice led TV and a pool table which was out of order. On the positive it had lots of outlets to charge our phones. Additionally there is a Dairy Queen and Walmart (which has very good prices) within walking distance of the campground. In the end, it was a great area to camp at read more

We stayed here for 1 night on our way to Yellowstone. Overall we were pleased. The campground is more of a parking lot but we did not need much more for staying 1 night. The site is easy to access from the main road, marked well and plenty of room. The staff was extremely friendly, let us stay a few hours later than normal checkout so we could finish laundry. Bathrooms and laundry room was clean. Daughter loved the park. I loved the gift shop. Husband loved that the sites were pretty flat requiring no leveling. read more

I'll list the positive first: great location, a nice laundry room, and the older lady who checked us in was pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately it was downhill from there. They don't take credit cards, which was not disclosed when making the reservation, and it's not even cheaper than other places. They close the bathrooms for cleaning: Women's 10-11 a.m.; Men's 11a.m.-12 noon. Guess what, check-out is at 11. So if you're a woman, there's no bathroom for the last hour of your stay. I told the desk clerk it was sex discrimination, but he vehemently said it wasn't, more than once. Well of course it is. (If the men's were closed the last hour, it would be too, but it never seems to be the other way around, does it?). He was dismissive and unapologetic. Not even a "Thanks for pointing that out, we'll look into it", nothing. I was actually asking for a lady a few sites away who didn't have a bathroom in her trailer (we do). I offered her ours, but she said she'd go at the GAS STATION on their way out of town. I didn't share that part with the male desk clerk because by then I had the impression he wouldn't care. He said something about not strictly enforcing the check-out time (really, I can stay until 9 p.m.?), but regardless, most people are hitting the road around 11. We've been doing this a long time, and never have I seen restrooms closed before check-out. Normal places do it after check-out and before the next people check in. Such an easy thing to fix. We won't be back. read more

Ponderosa has a flashy web presence with promises of "free upgraded wifi. We were late getting in because of the avalanche restrictions on the highway from Yellowstone to Cody, Wy, so we weren't able to check in last night. My grandchildren have online classes in the morning so I figured I'd pay for our RV space, get the password and continue with our day at the Buffalo Bill Museum. But! The clerk at the desk announces that the wifi is "messed up". I ask to look at the router thinking it might just need resetting. He shows me a tangle of electrical wires plugged into a plug strip with wires going up thru the ceiling. No sign of a router. He was proud of his ignorance loudly proclaiming 'he' had no use for such things! it makes me ashamed for my generation (graduated late '50s) and their dismissal of technology. Other than the no plastic policy the campground was fine. Centrally located, nice level spots,It's been great traveling with my grandchildren. My beef is the promises made vs the actuality. and the total lack of concern. We spent three nights in Jackson at a park with a shower building that should have been condemned but the wifi vould stream Netflix! Go figure! read more

The only reason this campground gets 2 stars is because of the people who run the campground. They are very friendly and helpful. You pull up to the front of this "campground" and it's like you walked in to the 1960's! The shop was cute, but otherwise, what a joke! The tent camping area was located in the grassy area located around the shop and behind the other building where you pull in. This campground is located in town. There is a lot of traffic on this thorough fare. My family and I stayed here both on our way to Yellowstone in a camper, and then we decided to stay again on our way home. (bad decision) The 2nd time was the worst decision! We stayed in their "loft". I called to make the reservation. I told them we had 6. They quoted the price of $75.60 including tax. Upon arrival, my husband scoped it out and thought it would be adequate. However, when we went to pay, they corrected us that that price was for 2 guests. (mind you, the loft sleeps 6) So they wanted to charge us $3 for each additional guest. So what would have been $75.60 changed to $88!! Then to make matters worse, we get up there to find that there is no bathroom or sink! The air conditioning was coming into the room by a tiny hole in the wall which NEVER cooled the room down. When I went down to the desk to inform them, they told me that the room was hooked up to the whole building's AC. So they sent me back to my room with an old dingy window fan that was busted on the bottom. (we already had one fan in the room) Also, this room had no windows and there was a second door, but it was up on the next floor that we could see from the bed area, but it was blocked off. So if there was a fire, we would have been screwed! Also, whoever was in the next room, had a baby and it screamed and we could hear it very easily! Will we stay here again? Definitely not! The food was good at their little "Den", but the prices were a bit high. Nice staff there too! read more
