Horseback riding was the most amazing experience ever! Wyatt, our wrangler, was courteous, careful, knowledgeable and super friendly; my sons now call him their new best friend. My sons have named him their favorite cowboy in Wyoming!

This review is for both the Ranch (as a place to stay) and for the restaurant inside. First, make sure your gps is loaded before you go to Yellowstone and then try to find the ranch. We didn't, and if my daughter hadn't noted the sign as we passed it, we would have drive another 30 minutes into Cody, and then had to backtrack in the dark! It has cute cabins and horse back rides and more. Because we were on a cross country trek and spent the day in Yellowstone and had to make it to Sioux Falls by the next day, we couldn't enjoy any of those amenities. Next time, if we were to spend more time in Yellowstone, it would be a great place to spend more time. The dinner was good if simple, but cheap! We had rib eye and a bison burger. We had to leave too early for breakfast the next day.

This place hands down has the best burgers that we experienced during our vacation to Yellowstone. We didn't realize that they only served dinner between 6pm-8pm but it was worth the half hour wait as we had a cocktail at their bar where I experienced my first huckleberry lemonade - delish! Place was very cozy as it provided a western home vibe. If we ever make it back out to Yellowstone, this will be put on our list for repeat. Thanks for the great food!!

We have had an incredible time at Bill Cody Ranch. The cabins are cozy, comfortable and very clean--look just like the photos on the website. Everyone of the staff have been friendly and helpful--incredible service from start to finish. We tried a few restaurants in town, but the breakfast and dinner in the restaurant at the ranch were the best meals of the trip. The highlight of our entire Wyoming vacation was the four hour Clock Tower Trail Ride through the Shoshone National Forest. Our wrangler, Jackson, was a fantastic guide and host. He grilled us delicious burgers mid-ride for a picnic lunch by the river and was great with all the guests and horses. Gorgeous views of mountains, fields full of wildflowers, and beautiful horses who were well trained for the day. Highly recommend adding a stay at Bill Cody Ranch to anyone planning to visit Yellowstone. Truly a getaway from hectic daily life and a place to make family memories for a lifetime!

Amazing views for the amazing trail rides

Bill Cody Ranch is THE ranch to visit when coming to Wyoming. I've been an employee for a little over a month, and the ranch owners have been nothing but motivating and compassionate towards their employees. It's definitely a fast pace job but with tourists from everywhere in the world, it's to be expected. Even our chef is absolutely phenomenal with his cooking, he takes pride in making it the best and getting it out in a timely manner. And his famous cheesecake is to die for (which is worth the trip in itself!). The amount of care and passion they put into the cabins, staff, and horses is unbelievable. It is undeniably one of the best experiences I have done in my lifetime so far. The view from the horse trails is absolutely breathtaking, not to mention the view when you step out of your cabin. Definitely worth the trip to Wyoming, especially if you're on your way to Yellowstone.

We took the 2 hour 8.30am trail ride and we had a blast. The scenery is spectacular and I had a horse named Alpine who was just the sweetest. The ranch is only 30 minutes from Cody and it's on the way to Yellowstone. For $55 a person it was well worth it. Our tour guide could have been a little more knowledgable on the surrounding area but it didn't affect our ride. We would definitely come back and are considering staying in a cabin next year!

Their rates for a guided 4 hour trip was well in the range for guided trip. I was very happy with our guide as well. He was very patient and worked the River very thoroughly. He also showed my wife how to cast. We had our 3 children with us and they had a great time exploring the river bank and looking at all of the elk and dear tracks. The River was also a private section, and we had more tha a mile of undisturbed fishing. We caught around 10 fish with a nice 14" cutthroat as the prime catch. I would highly suggest the Double Diamond for a single or family fishing adventure. It did take about 45 minutes to get their from Cody, but the drive was picturesque.

I'm very unfamiliar with Wyoming, but the scenic sights overlooking the South Fork Valley were breathtaking every step of the way. Our guide introduced us to flora of region sharing their homeopathic uses and spoke of the remote wilderness within the Thorofare beyond the mountains in their backyard. Despite being late in the season nearing Mid-September when rides start to become unavailable in the region, the hosts were incredibly accommodating and cordial. We were able to make our reservation earlier that same day. My only regret was not scheduling more time to dine, drink, and explore the South Fork from the quaint and peaceful Double Diamond X Ranch. During my next visit to Wyoming, this Ranch will be high on my list of places to visit.

Levi was our guide that day and he was great! He gave wonderful direction, kept us all together and a good steady pace. If you are a beginner don't worry! You can do this. A young boy was on a horse by himself and he did great and they kept him at the front with the guide. Their horses are well kept, calm, and well trained. This isn't a fast moving horseback ride. You are going up a beautiful trail, that can be steep at certain parts. But don't worry, your guide will stop to let you know about each section and how to prepare for it. For example whether you need to lean back or front, move your legs up to not get scratched by rocks, and more. It made our experience safe and comfortable. These horses are amazing and know the trail. Levi even took pictures for each family at the top. They are amazing! I really loved my horse Cheyenne and trusted her. She was beautiful, sweet and loved snacking here and there on our way up the trail during our stops. Very sweet! Even Levi mentioned that he would trust his 3 year old around any of the horses. Bathroom available on site. Overall I had an amazing experience. It was beautiful!

We evaluated over 100 ranches and determined that we were interested in a full service guest ranch close to Yellowstone National Park. We then narrowed our list down to three and Crossed Sabres came out on top. Our phone conversation with Owner Kenny Long sealed the decision for us. Our trip was everything we had hoped it would be and more. We rode horses into the surrounding Absoroka Mountains every day, we did a full day tour of Yellowstone, we learned how to fly fish and how to squared dance, we shot skeet, and I white-water rafted. We even traveled into Cody one evening for the rodeo. All of that was awesome. But it was the people who made it special. Kenny, Laura, and Garrett Long do a great job with their ranch and they have a wonderful crew of wranglers and staff that made our stay so enjoyable. The food and the service was top notch. The other guests were amazing and we made some great friends. It was without a doubt one of our best vacations ever! We highly recommend Crossed Sabres Ranch!!!

What sets this ranch apart from others I have been to Is the variety of activities available both on the ranch and off . We loved the all inclusive nature of unlimited horse back riding, fly fishing . BB gun shooting , hiking , and down time just playing games ( fooseball , Pool, chess etc) at the ranch. We equally enjoyed all the included outings off site - the full day trip to Yellowstone, an afternoon of white water rafting, rodeo in Cody. Loved the variety of riding trails and customization of each ride to each riders level. Ranch is small enough that our kids could explore and meander about with little supervision. The independence they were given at the ranch can't be duplicated in our big urban city and was a priceless experience for them to have. Amazingly refreshing for the whole family to be in a place where there is no cell / internet service ( except for in an emergency situation - it's available in the lodge but none of the guests seemed to use it ). We unplugged and bonded, read, relaxed, took part in everything and enjoyed our week at the ranch immensely. Tips: bring a warm parka jacket ( was cold even mid June), despite the forecast saying it was a high of 70, most days felt very cold in the mornings warming up by late afternoon, bring a raincoat, bring a long sleeve swim shirt and or other fast drying clothes for the rafting trip ( you will get wet). Bring a cute western outfit or 2 for the square dance night and final dinner. Come with a good, down to earth attitude ( this isn't the four seasons) and be ready to mingle- this is a very social place. Be aware the overall staff employed is young and inexperienced and green ( many 18-20 years old) so you might not have a typical 5 star service experience at all time. For the most part though. the staff was kind and friendly and accommodating. Additional shout outs to Jayden ( aka skippy) who DOES provide a five star service experience with every interaction and Garett who my kids loved playing pool and bags with and Mary whose food was consistently very good. Overall, a big 5 star experience and memories made that will last a lifetime for us and our children. Highly recommend!!!

Well...Top of the World Store is located very much near the Cooke City-Silver Gate area. For those folks who are driving from Red Lodge towards Cooke City-Silver Gate as I was...this Top of the World was a pleasant way to stop, get out of my car and take a break while driving Beartooth highway. Here at Top of the World...you can step inside the wooden store for snacks, souvenirs, gifts and any supplies you may need along your journey. Also here they have a motel which is great for spending the night in the heart of the mountains along with gas for your car in case you never topped off in Red Lodge or Cooke City-Silver Gate. I appreciated the fact that outside the store, they had a few picnic areas and benches for you to sit down on and appreciate the surroundings. Obviously along Beartooth Highway the setting overall is pretty remote so here at The Store you have a chance to breathe in the fresh mountain air and admire just how unique the setting is among a wide open wilderness. Most of all for me, having that moment to relax for a little was a nice change of pace from all the exploring and picture taking I was doing on Beartooth Highway. I also liked how there's a cool little roadside sign stating you're here at the "Top of the World"! What a great way to attract tourists with a very clever and catchy name for this cozy pitstop in the middle of nowhere. I had to get a photo of this sign as a fun memento from my time here. I bought a few little trinkets inside the gift shop as a memory from my adventure along with an ice cream bar for a nice midday snack. I used about 45 minutes of time as a welcome break. So yes...here at Top of the World Store and Motel I found this place to be a worthy option for stopping along my Beartooth Highway itinerary. For those interested in knowing...if I had to recommend a few other spots along the 68 mile drive to take some time to explore, it would be... - Beartooth Pass Summit - 10,947 feet above sea level. - The area (not named specifically) featuring a few alpine lakes set off in the distance good for picture taking. - Rock Creek Vista Point - walk to an observation overlook for an up close glimpse of the scenic and rugged landscape surroundings. Overall I give this Top of the World roadside pullover, two thumbs up!
