I often go jogging here while running errands at the Rivermark Plaza nearby, as was the case on Monday. It's in a safe neighborhood surrounded by lovely townhomes, an adjacent library, and even a police station across the street. Unfortunately the concrete trail does not go all the way around the park as there's an elementary-middle school on one side of the grassy field. But that just means an extra trek around Don Callejon if running laps here. The tree-lined pathways on the border are lovely, however there is no shade found elsewhere in the wide open space that makes up the majority of this park. Still, the place is great for picnicking, playing sports, or for kids to just run around. There are also a few benches along the trail, a playground at the corner of the park, and a restroom near the play area. Nothing really exciting or unique about this place, but it's clean and spacious and a decent option for spending time outdoors. I appreciate that they even post banners sharing local attractions and events happening around the city of Santa Clara. In fact, that led me to my next stop later in the evening, to check out the "Nebula Rider" (separate review on that). read more

This is a great park. It has trails around the park. You can cross Lick Mill Blvd to go to the Thamien Park across the street to get onto Guadalupe River Trail. There is a playground for kids to play and also big grass area for walking, playing sports, laying around on the grass to read a book, have a picnic, or for dogs to walk and sniff around. It's a pleasant park to chill and relax in a nice day. They have benches along the side for people to rest too. Next to this park, there is a public library and a retail complex with Safeway and many restaurants. Very convenient. A lovely neighborhood park with a big piece of lawn and a playground. There are community condos and houses around the park . There are flowers and plants on the side walks too . Sunshine but not too hot or too cold . The weather is just perfect. I saw a black squirrel try to come down and look for food between the ally . It is so peaceful and delightful. read more

I'd say this park playground is most appropriate for kids aged 2-5. The swings are so low that older elementary aged kids would not be comfortable. There's plenty of sand and grass to play around in though! The field is a great place to run around on so bring your dog along too. Park is nearby a library and the rivermark shopping plaza. Giant park! This is the biggest field I remember seeing in recent times. Great spot to get some outdoor active time in. Soccer, frisbee...you pick. I was there late afternoon yesterday and the weather was pleasant and overcast. I can see it being a challenge during a hot day since there was no shade. It was nice to see so many happy groups enjoying the space and open space. There was an adjacent area that had an outdoor gym and basketball courts. I was not sure how I could get it but looks like it was open to the public since there were a lot of folks using those facilities too. read more

Location is excellent and fairly safe and clean to walk around, right behind the City of Santa Clara Library at Rivermark Plaza. There's a child friendly small area with swings, slides, etc. Beautiful homes surround the park, so no matter which direction you walk towards, gorgeous views are everywhere. I like colorful leaves on trees. There were a few benches to sit on along the path and some garbage bins in the area. Library is convenient because public restrooms are available inside and the library public parking lot an easy distance away. I took a beautiful late Autumn walk around the million dollar neighborhood and captured colorful views. Autumn is when you will find colorful Autumn leaves everywhere. It was especially windy today. Free street parking everyday everywhere around here. Don't stop at the 15 minutes parking spaces near retailers and restaurants. Taking your time walking is well worth observing. Open space park with green lawns. Capture beautiful spots. Easy to grab a drink or bite in the area. Retailers, restaurants, and a huge Safeway (my favorite one) are all within walking distance. Saw a flock of black birds in the area. Beautiful homes are attractive. Some folks were walking their dogs. Great place to walk, visit, or gather. Highly recommended for Autumn views and lovely walking paths. Great place for photography or selfies for sure. read more

This is a very nice park for people/kids of all ages. There are 2 play areas. One for toddlers, and another for small kids. It can accommodate over 50 energetic kids without them running into each other at every turn, I think. The playgrounds feature slides, swings, metal climbers, a pretty cool zipline, etc. For the adults, there is a walking/running path around the park. There were soccer goal posts for the people to just get serious about physical activity. The actual field itself might be 2 or 3 football fields big. There were parents flying kites with their kids. A couple were catching a Frisbee. Numerous dogs were being walked. We took Ian here couple of evenings during our stay here. He is a kid, so of course he had fun. We spent almost couple of Hours entertaining him and he wanted to stay here even longer! I recommend getting your outdoor fix on at this park. read more

We love going to this park. It's got a little bit of everything for everyone! Large field to play and run around in and 2 parks appropriate for toddlers and big kids. There's even sand for kids to play in! There's a small area of picnic tables here but I've seen families put up tables under the trees to have parties. The bathrooms are on site and the parking lot is right next to the playground with ample parking spots. It's also deserving of 5 stars because it's next to Rivermark plaza where we can grab lunch or dessert. Overall it's one of our fav parks. Well kept and clean. read more

This park recently opened again after they were all closed due to Covid. This used to be my regular go to for parks. There is lots of parking, the library is right there and there's a playground and a huge open field too. It does get quite busy - seems a lot of grandparents like to take their kids there to roam free whilst they take some time off. There are swings and a lot of sand, so take a bucket and spade when you go There are public bathrooms by the playground and picnic areas with bbqs. Safeway and Rivermark are right there within walking distance too so you can pop and get lunch or a snack if needed. read more

Swell City of Santa Clara park that's located next to a very, nice neighborhood; Don Callejon School (K-8) and adjacent to one of the busiest shopping centers (Rivermark Plaza) in Silicon Valley. They are also in the process of building a brand-new library next door which may or may not open, but that's neither here nor there. Here is a quick rundown of the goods: 1) Playground and Tot Lot 2) Above-average restrooms 3) Picnic tables but no BBQ pits 4) Lots of grassy fields for the kids to run on; the fact of the matter is this park is 11-acres and I would, conservatively, estimate that 9 of those acres are grass.I see a lot of people meeting up here to fly kites and play impromptu soccer games. 5) There are 4 100-year old Live Oak trees that were brought over from the former Agnews State Hospital; they're huge and really cool to look at especially for a tree junkie like myself. I like this park and would normally give it a 4-star rating, but parking is at such a premium around here because of the shopping center that I would never come here on my own time; there's just nothing that special to come see that I can't get from most other parks. I usually only come here when I'm at work and need a nice place to eat lunch. However, if I lived within walking distance I think I would be frequent denizen. read more

Only been to this park twice for a Easter egg hunt that my church South Bay church has every year here at this park. The park is clean , lot of grass and two nice little play grounds for kids. I live a bit away or I would come here more with my kids. There is also a public library and plenty of place it eat close to area. Only bad thing with this area is the parking depending on what time of day you come, parking can be hard to kind but I don't mind to park my car and walk. read more

Live Oak Park is pretty awesome park because it's conveniently located next to the shopping area called the Rivermark Plaza which include a Pizza Place, Jamba Juice etc. Just added a public library hiopefully to open after all the city and state politic mishaps. Unlike the shopping area, it has ample parking in a little lot on Moreland Way. If you like to play sports, Live Oak Park has a lot to offer. My kids and I often come to play soccer followed up with some grass running to the elementary school called Don Callejon Elementary on the far north end of the park. Field ( OK): Big enough to get several impromptu games of football/ultimate frisbee/soccer going at once. When it rains, however, it can get pretty muddy. It's a hit and miss for the city to keep this grassy land up to par? Basketball Courts (Average): I would say that the basketball courts located on school grounds are a little subpar because of the debree on the ground, which often causes slippage. But it is what it is for a public school ground. The courts are also in an east to west position, which causes one side to always be facing the sun, so that one team always has the visibility advantage. I think the ground also slopes a bit. Playground (Standing Ovation): Small, and the bathrooms lack mirrors, soap, and hooks in the stalls because, but it seems like a good place to take kids. There's clean white sand and the surrounding ground is made of rubber, so kids could probably run around barefoot. read more

The good things: -Great neighborhood that I hope to continue to live near. -Friendly people -Never that busy -Wide open grassy area -Swings! The not-so-good things: -The lawn is really patchy in areas. I'm talking gravel-showing, twist-your-ankle patchy. Runners and pick-up-football players, beware. -Kind of smelly at times. Recycled water gives me the heebeegeebees. Parents, might want to rethink letting your little ones roll around on this grass. Overall, a solid 4 stars. this park is simple, green, and has a little of everything...something for everyone! i'm not quite sure of the official boundaries of the park, but it appears to be bounded by lick mill blvd, fitzgerald way, moreland way and rivermark pkwy. in addition to the usual play structures for children, there is a fenced off area with nautilus-like machines, where you could do chest press, overhead press, and other weight-training movements. there's also separate men's and women's restrooms, and plenty of green, grassy area, perfect for a picnic or playdate. i've seen signs of outdoor activities taking place here, very appropriate considering the square footage of this park. convenient to rivermark plaza, thamien park and guadalupe river trail. easily accessible via 101, 237, and 880 freeways. read more

Great park to just relax, watch the clouds and walk that extensive piece of land full of grass. Sooo relaxing and chill place, especially when is empty. I like to get my boba at a store nearby, grab some books from the library and just to there, sit and read. Very mellow, you will see some moms with strollers and some kids activity, but not overwhelming (the park is huge and is very minimal,not too many things). It is perfect touch to the community of houses and stores that create a mini village. Some people call it boring, for me is the ultimate type of park, kind of 'urban', simple, where you can do a nice picnic without fuss and is very quiet. There is a lunch group of local work folk who play some pickup disc on this field. It's an ankle graveyard. Even when I'm walking, I can feel how lumpy and and uneven the field is. When I run, I have to do one of two things: 1) Watch where I'm running, which means I can't hit full speed. 2) Try and gun it, and risk my ankle. I'll constantly twist and tweak my ankles, and it's maddening. I don't understand how it's possible that the people who maintain this park leave it such disastrous conditions. There are 3 reviews before mine, and 2 of them note that you should watch out for your ankles! WTF? I guess the rest of the park could be nice, perhaps nice to take the kids out to. They have a fun looking children's area. But I don't have kids, so that's not my concern. My concern is for the blatant disregard of field maintenance the park people show. read more

An uber functional park, if you ask me. Likes: It's situated in a great location, surrounded by a Pleasantville of homes and shopping. It's really clean (a must). There are two playgrounds, one for toddlers and one for bigger kids, and a huge open grassy area for sports/running around/flying kites etc. It sits right in front of a plaza that has a Safeway, McDonald's, Baja Fresh, Jamba Juice, Peetes Coffee, and tons of other restaurants so a picnic is totally easy and possible here. Watching your weight? Well jog around the park trail instead! Oh, and there's lots of sand to build with, don't forget your sand toys! Gripes: The bathrooms are a little dirty, but what park bathroom isn't? It's virtually impossible to find parking at around 11:30am-1pm on weekdays as people take their lunch breaks at this plaza and use the park's parking area when the plaza's gets too full. It was a nice and sunny day so we had to seize the moment and bring the kids out for a day of fun. Live Oak Park was just the place for the kids as they park is pretty large with various play ground activities from slides to swings. It's also nice to have a bathroom at the park. It's great for the kids because we don't have to run over to the shopping plaza next door. The only bad thing is all the construction happening that has taken most of the parking lot away. read more

Pretty good park to take a stroll. It's really lively with all the kids playing at the play ground. I usually come on my lunches for an afternoon stroll so there's kids in school that come out for lunch too. There's also a pretty big field. I haven't seen anyone come use it for anything yet. It's really green and lush! I also see a bunch of black squirrels here too. I get a little excited like that toddlers chasing them around trying to take pictures of them. I don't typically see too many black squirrels but this place is full of them! I do wish this park had more shade though. I love this park because it's very compact. Structure for small kids, Structure for older kids, and restroom are right in front of you when you sit at one of those picnic tables. Also, it has a huge field to run around (it's occupied by soccer players during lunch time). Because it's very close to Rivermark Plaza and also the soccer players, it's hard to find a parking between 11:30 to 12:50. But this is a GREAT park! read more

I actually really like this park as it is conveniently located next to a shopping strip with options to eat or grab a drink as well as a school which play ground you could use after school time. I never had troubles with parking and was able always to park next to the play ground. The space is very clean and well maintained. They have two small areas divided by age. They climbing structures are simple but the children are having fun and I guess as long as they are happy you are happy. Lots of seating area than most parks for adults as we as a bathroom that's actually useable. :-) We definitely had fun and miss coming here terribly on a weekly basis when we used to live at north park San Jose! Adding this wonderful library is definitely a plus! read more

Nice park with a toddler and big kid sturcture. Two big swings and two baby swings, clean sand, and lots of tables. Downside is not very much shade, so its hot in the sunny hours, and super windy and cold in the winter. Plenty of parking with the shared library lot. Right next to the brand new northside library. My 2 year old daughter loves going to the park. We usually end up here because it's walking distance from our house. The playground area is small, but nice. The park is kept up pretty well. The have restrooms on site (never used them). Has lots of sand areas to play around in and has two play sets. It's located in a quant neighborhood and has lots of grassy area to play ball, fly a kite etc... The past year has had a lot of construction on site due to the development of a new library set to open in winter 2013. One star was subtracted because parking is limited and street parking gets congested around lunch and after work hours because it's located next to the rivermark shopping center. I expect the parking situation will probably worsen when the library open because from the looks of it, the parking lot is going to be tiny. read more

I like that this park is conveniently located nearby my neighborhood...well, a good 15 minute walk from my house is VERY convenient. Here are the perks and stuff that was left out but should've included: 1. they have a large field area where you can play soccer, baseball, football, frisbee, etc. (during the rainy day season...gets pretty muddy if you ask me) 2. they don't have a basketball court (unless you're talking about the school that is situated in the same area) 3. parking isn't a problem but during the times it's lunch hour for the executive employees who have their luncheon around the safeway plaza 4. the playground area for the little kiddos is small and the bathroom is much to talk about 5. clean and dog friendly 6. no skate park 7. no bbq pits to have a party 8. the police station is right across from the park in case anything were to happen...which I doubt since it's in a quiet and friendly neighborhood 9. great place to go jogging or biking if you're into that sort of thing 10. they don't have a community center, but I'm wondering if the one at the school is part of the park....I might have to look into that read more

This is a solid park for the kiddies. there are 2 playgrounds - one is for the toddlers and the other for the big kids. In between there are benches as well as a couple benches on the outside of the play structure. There are also cement tables with bench chairs. Plenty of places to sit. The play structures are great because they keep the kids entertained and you don't need to walk in the sand if you don't want to. The sand is decently clean. The bathrooms are also in good condition. My bro in law lives nearby on Lafayette st and I visit them once in a few months from L.A. Everytime I come to Santa Clara, I come to this park for a walk with my dog or daughter. Very nice park..Extremely clean and lots of shopping next door. People are really nice and kids are well behaved. They have a kids play area in one corner near the Rivermark townhomes. read more
