My dog is my best friend, literally. But I travel often and need reliable care for him. He stays with a family for longer stays but comes to ponderosa if it's just a night or two. He's been coming for the past two years and we've had nothing but great experiences. The staff know him, he always comes home bathed and well cared for. I pay the extra for the boarding bath but it's worth it and I love having him back healthy and clean. I wasn't prompted or incentivized to review I've just been taking him for so long and realized I know longer have any anxiety about dropping him off so this is my way of saying thanks! We have taken our dog here 3 times, and 2 out of 3 have been terrible experiences. I guess it's our own fault for not learning after the first one. The staff is friendly and good with pets, but our dog has gotten a respiratory infection twice after boarding here, and to add insult to injury, a terrible case of fleas. There is a bad smell in the lobby, which makes me worry they aren't properly disinfecting the space. We won't be returning and hope to inform others about the risks of boarding here. I boarded my dog here for 11 days. I told them twice, once when I went in to make the appointment and again when we dropped him off on June 11th--he needs to be coaxed to eat. Both times they said no problem We picked him up and he had lost weight. He was throwing up and had diarrhea. We took him to the vet three times and the last time, we decided to put him to sleep because he couldn't stand and even hold his head up. All this happened within a week of picking him up. My pups stayed here for a week while my fiancé and I were in Las Vegas. We just moved here and this facility is super close to our home . They also had decent Google reviews so I gave them a try. They also had availability last minute which was extremely convenient.Everyone was friendly and absolutely gushed over my girls. I brought (a lot ) of food there and advised that I would want what was left back. They were there for a week and don't eat a lot on a normal day. I brought a lot extra just to be safe. They said there was nothing left but based on the fact that they barely eat when in unfamiliar places I find that extremely hard to believe. A little disappointing but they also did not lose any weight like they have in the past. The price online was much different than what I ended up paying. We did add another day but that should have only been about $50 total for the both of them. Most people give free baths when the pups stay for 4+ days but they charged for both my girls to get baths which I was made aware of upon drop off but still found it to be odd .They said it was "discounted" when I asked how much it was but never told me the actual price. I had already paid $135 upon booking (which was supposedly half of the total including tax) I ended up paying about $275 on pick up day. There wasn't an itemized bill (which I didn't like) just a standard receipt so it's hard to even know what I was paying for.My dogs seemed happy and had not lost any weight when I picked them up so that is great. They also posted pictures on their Facebook page so that I could see my babes while gone. I really loved that! Overall we may use them in a bind but I think I'll keep an eye out for somewhere else. We love to travel and definitely want to find somewhere that checks all our boxes and doesn't break the bank with hidden fees and additional costs . read more

DO NOT BOARD YOUR PET HERE! Picked my dogs up and one was not acting his usual self and his lower half was in great pain. By morning he was lethargic, not eating/drinking, and not walking. When dropped off at the vet they reported he started having large amounts of diarrhea and vomiting up peas, carrots, and potatoes (which is toxic to dogs). Whether they intentionally gave it to him or he got into it under their care, it shouldn't have happened. Another thing that did not sit right with me is I called to ask if there had been any incidents or if they had an explanation for why my dog wasn't acting right. Before even asking my name or my dogs name, the lady responded with "no nothing happened to your dog." Well how do you know if you don't know who you are talking to? we had our abused rescue dog trained here. she came back a different dog and we were so happy with the training. whenever we go on a trip we board her here. staff is very friendly and it's obvious they love animals. resort is very clean. we take her to doggie daycare once a week so she can be around other dogs. she gets so excited when we pull into the parking lot and once inside eagerly goes with a staff member ready for a fun day. we highly recommend Ponderosa. read more

It's the only place in this area that sells the dog food that I use. Every time I have been in there it has been clean and very nice. The staff is always upbeat friendly and ready to help. There is a big window behind the check-in area and the dogs always seem like they're having a very big time in there!! I boarded my cat Luna here for a week for Christmas while I was out of town. I was worried due to it being her first time being boarded, and her natural anxiousness around new people. I could tell when I picked her up that she had been... less than pleasant to deal with (she's typically not mean, just doesn't like people bothering her). But everyone there was super nice and friendly. They showed nothing but understanding and reassured me that she wasn't bad at all. I am pissed !! It was bad enough leaving them with someone we didn't know!! Never Again !! My first initial impression was a good place to take my dogs to board, the day I dropped off I was apprehensive when one of their trainers was having a session and was yelling commands at the dogs, big red flag!! I didn't have another place to leave my dogs otherwise I wouldn't have left them there, my dogs where there for 7 days. When we got our dogs in the truck and noticed one of our dogs breathing didn't sound good, next day he is having trouble breathing and has a nasty runny nose and very congested, so when I finally got our dogs to the vet both of them have a viral infection, he was sick before I picked him up and I wasn't told anything not only that when I called to tell them my dogs where sick the staff member made the comment it happens all the time at all kennels... if this is true why would we board our dogs if we didn't think they were safe ??? As of Friday Oct 15th, one week from picking the dogs up, and we have rang up close to $500 in vet bills because of the viral AND bacterial infection they got from this kennel!!! DO NOT take your dogs here! I recommend this place and for those people that plan or continue to use them think twice, I paid $400 for boarding and now I have $500 in vet bills so far!!! Not a good experience!!! I was told over the phone when I called to schedule our next visit that "my dogs just don't like it there". After 3 visits they have to check with the manager first??? I should have listened to my dogs on the first visit!! When they brought them out for me to pick up, my overly excited and insecure female was wet and cowering!! No phone call or explanation as to why until I called the next day to ask what happened. Apparently she "slipped" or "fell" into poop. Seriously!!!! We started at a new kennel and have been happily going every day for over a month now with no "incidents"! While I was on vacation, my mother took my 3 year old mini Aussie to get groomed. She told them, basically, to clean her up. Trim the hair that always gets matted and the hair around her rear that gets dirty. Not only did they keep her from 9AM until well after 2PM, she came out not even looking like the same dog. They cut all of her long beautiful hair off. ALL OF IT. And it's not even cut evenly. She looks NOTHING like an Australian Shepherd. I've been using Ponderosa Pet Resort now for a couple of years and would not leave my dogs in anybody's else's care. My dogs are actually excited every time I drop them off there. The Ponderosa is such a clean kennel and the employees really care about your animals I'm so impressed with their customer service and kindness. The price's they charge for this service is unbelievably cheap for the quality of service you get. They also offer training which both my dogs have gone through and improved the unbelievably. Experienced unprofessionalism and a lack of courtesy from the OWNER due to an error that was made regarding the drop off date and he refuse to take accountability for the mistake his employees made and his lack of compassion to address the issue was baffling. When your staff makes a mistake, you should be willing to extend an apology and waive the fee that was charged, instead the owner insisted we pay and he refused to relieve the dogs unless we paid for the extra day. Not to mentioned, he insinuated that I did not pay the initial balance which I did 3 days prior to pick up. I spent over $300+ for 2 dogs, and he wouldn't let me get my dogs back for $45?! UNETHICAL AND RIDICULOUS. I've dropped my dogs here multiple times for overnight stays and never have had to deal with this level of poor customer service/unprofessionalism from the store owner. Honestly don't have enough bad things to say about this place. I realize that running a small business can be a handful and each dog requires a different amount of attention but don't open a business if you aren't able to handle it. I was willing to overlook the negative reviews when my vet recommended this boarding facility but I wish I would have stuck to my instincts. Not only did my dog come home smelling like he had been sitting in his own urine for my entire five day trip, he also came home with what looked to be like a staph infection, diarrhea, and developed kennel cough shortly after. I literally just got a text from the owner THE DAY I'm supposed to pick up my dogs. Supposedly my poodle who was PERFECTLY HEALTHY AT HIS LAST CHECK UP THE DAY BEFORE DROP OFF has gone lame in the legs and has genetic BULGING DISCE TO HIS SPINE! Said it will cost 8k for additional scans and SURGERY! Literally the dog has been the PICTURE PERFECT HEALTH and now facing euthanasia! The vet they hired at the emergency vet LIED saying that the spinal injury and paralysis is not caused by TRAUMA! After years of working in emergency, sudden paralysis doesn't come about by anything BUT trauma given the dog's history! AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE IF YOU WANT YOUR DOG TO LIVE! We took our 4 month old German Shepard for training. When we got her back she has been nothing but amazing. Before taking her home they went over everything we need to know plus what to work on at home with her. We have to small kids who she loves and does not jump on them. At home training with her is going very well and she is listening to everything we tell her. Will take any new dog to them for training. We have used Ponderosa Pet Resort for training, daycare and boarding. They have been great with our dog. The trainer worked with him while he was a puppy for six weeks and that allowed us to have a well behaved family pet. We knew our dog was going to exceed 100 lbs and wanted to make sure we could be in control. After training we started taking him to play a couple of times a week which helped him to socialize with other dogs. We recently boarded him for a week and when we came home it was like he didn't miss us at all. I know he was well taken care of and he was nice and clean when he came home. read more

I've taken my dogs to Ponderosa every time I go on vacation. I leave them in the doggie daycare. My pets are always taken well care of. The come out so happy. Place is clean and everyone is so friendly. I had my Chihuahua mix trained with the doggie trainer, and my Speedy is now a nice little gentleman. I've also have my Shiz Tzu groomed at Ponderosa and they've done a great job; Mondays is discount day for grooming. I have used this location before for my dog..several times actually, but ill admit I don't think I will go back there. I boarded my dog there a few times and put her in day care for a month because in my condition I am unable to play with her so I thought that playing with other dogs would be good for her. I am no expert in dogs but when i dropped her off for day care I noticed that one of the other dogs would constantly bully her and my dog would be actively trying to get away. I was told by them that she has to find her place in the pack and itll settle down soon. I bought it.... Well, towards the end of the month I noticed that little had changed, except for when I would grab the leash in the morning my dog would now actively run away from me. I made the decision to stop using the day care service and about a week later I noticed that she had some kind of wound on the top of her neck. I took her to the vet and found it it was a bite mark from most likely another dog. Well, there is only one place that couldve happened.
