Bought my first Bouvier here 36 years ago. Dr. Keith Taylor was the most caring and competent Doctor. Now on my forth Bouvier and although Dr. Taylor has retired I remain a loyal customer. The new staff and Doctors are a example of Dr. Taylors care. He did not just turn over his practice he made sure the future of ROCKWALL COUNTY VETERINARY CLINIC would keep the level of care he had built. I have only good things to say about all the staff and the Doctors who have attended to my Bouvier's. Recently I lost number 3 due to cancer. Terrible...completely incompetent. We gave them multiple chances since all the reviews are great... 1) Entered dogs name incorrectly - they spelled it as BISQUIT. We informed them it was spelled wrong and they 'corrected' it as BISKIT... 2) We brought a sample in containing a worm and asked them to look at it. They called back and informed us that the sample tested negative. We were confused and asked for clarification on what exactly was tested? They said they didn't find anything. We reiterated that we brought in a sample containing a worm so how would there not be anything found when a worm was in the sample? They said they would go check again, and called back and said 'yepp there's a worm and 3 parasites'... 3) Called and they were confused because there were two dogs with the same first name and last name but spelled differently. We informed them that yes, that was your staff that incorrectly spelled her name TWICE so they ended up making two separate accounts which lead to confusion on their end anytime we called... 3) Fast forward about 6 months later, we received email reminders for her checkup. We called to make an appt and was told there was no record for a Biscuit in their system.... so how are we receiving emails? We have been there 4 times how are there no records? Receptionist got extremely rude and kept asking 'are you sure this is the right vet?' after we informed her for the 3rd time this was the correct vet, we have been there multiple times, and you are the one sending us emails. We told her either name it could be under and she continued to tell us there was no record but that someone with our dog's name did have the same last name, but a different first name... the spouses name was also the same name we had given them...the same phone numbers and the same emails....but you couldn't 'find it' and had 'no record?'.... 4) Told them we are done with this vet and their incompetence, and asked them to send over her records which we still have yet to receive. read more

I am so disappointed in the new process for obtaining prescriptions. My dog has anxiety and takes Sileo. Normally, I order it from Chewy for $37.04 (plus shipping). Now, Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic requires you to purchase from their pharmacy or obtain a paper prescription for any medication. If I ordered from their online pharmacy the cost is $37.04 plus shipping. However, with the 4th of July coming and all the fireworks, I wanted to obtain the medication immediately. I went to the clinic and purchased it for $56.95! What a scam! I did email the pharmacy at the address in the email on Saturday regarding picking the medication up at the clinic. NEVER received a response. Good thing it wasn't an emergency. I did request a paper prescription and was told it would take 24 to 48 hours to get it. The Vet I use was not in today and I was told only the Vet that sees your pet is able to issue a paper prescription. I was never overwhelmed by the office anyway, so this is just another reason to change veterinary clinics. read more

Terrible customer service. I've been taking my animals here since we've lived here. Their office made an honest mistake which is understandable. The rude and dismissive behavior of Kaitlyn, who obviously was not fully informed, was an active choice and is unprofessional. Furthermore the officer manager (Avery?) proceeded to defend her behavior instead of just simply saying sorry. I will not be back. I also recommend price checking their charges with other local offices. They run a tad high. read more

This vet office has seen all four of my dogs and my families dogs/cats over the years and they are exceptional. They handle your pets with empathy, are affordable and have what's best in mind for their care. As someone who recently had to let a life long pet go they were extremely caring in the situation. A bunch of illiterate and one-dimensional people work in this clinic who don't know most things about dogs. I wonder how they graduated? The clerk of this clinic doesn't know anything either and when you call her and talk to her about the dog's problem, she doesn't understand anything and you really need to explain it to her!! They are very expensive. They charge 2- 3 times mor than others . This clinic just wants to take your money! And their excuse is the law, they lie to you and force you to do various tests that are not necessary to get more money from you, a terrible clinic. The staff and doctors are compassionate, honest, and go above and beyond to care for your pet. We brought our chihuahua to them after a previous vet office no longer met our needs. Our girl had been ill for a few years with kidney failure due to medication for an autoimmune condition. It never felt like they were taking advantage of our love for her. They truly cared and wanted the absolute best for her. Dr Bright is absolutely the best veterinarian we have ever worked with. When the time came to make the impossible decision to say goodbye, the experience was as compassionate as possible and they really listened to our concerns. Our pet needed to be seen for an ailment, so we scheduled an appointment and got examined, found scratch on eye. After meds, testing and initial visit cost the bill was close to $200. On that bill, we were instructed to come back in for a 1 week follow up, that stated there would be **no charge** for that 2nd visit. Vet sees our pet for 5min, I get a bill for $63. When pressed that the previous treatment plan said there would be no charge for this follow-up visit, the clerk magically produced an eye dye charge for the exact amount. Feels like an entitlement/bait-and-switch. Vet said we should come back in after another week... I told the desk clerk: "..don't bother, I won't be back." I open any business relationship based on trust and loyalty until I see misleading actions. When I ask for resolution to correct an oversight, someone gets an opportunity to hear my concern and save that trustworthiness. I will gladly pay for fair treatment and bear cost for valid services, but this is frustrating. If we do decide to return, I'll call beforehand and demand an estimate. read more

We had to make the hard decision to euthanize our 14-year-old dog, Ellie Mae, today. She was always nervous when going to the vet which made us dread the day even more. Gratefully the staff was so kind, patient and accommodating throughout the whole process. They let us check-in and wait from the comfort of our car, had a tech help us get Ellie from the car into the building, and showed us a comfortable and private "goodbye" room (equipped with multiple Kleenex boxes to wipe away our tears). Everyone we encountered was compassionate and understanding. All of them followed our pace, never rushing us through the process. We will be forever thankful for the dignity and tenderness demonstrated on this hard day. read more

The jury is still out on this one!! Hubby brought the 80+ lb bull dog/pit in for yeast infection. Left w/over a $400 bill including 3 meds. Hubby's work schedule caused him to forget the follow up appnt, not realizing it until they called. To reschedule, they wanted us to pre-pay $75 for the next appointment. That rubbed me the wrong way..... The meds worked but we are right back where we started now that the dog completed the meds. Frustrating that they are that stern about a missed appnt and want a prepaid appnt as a punishment. I guess they showed us. Not sure if I'll return or not. read more

I've always loved the way the staff here cares for my dogs. Great vet! But like everything else lately, prices have gone up. If you can afford it, I would suggest you bring your pets here. If you are wondering if you can afford it, I would just ask for prices beforehand. Also, I was charged $30 for an ear flush. All those little charges add up and may not be 100% necessary. Unfortunately it appears we have encountered another less than desirable Vet. We switched to them as a result of another Vet that went bad on us. I would like to say nice things and they do have some nice Veterinarians however they have other issues as well. That places them in the category of average to less than average what is encountered anymore today. However these are some of the undesirable attributes. . The receptionist staff is a mixed bag of good and indifference to the client . I seriously suspect their scales and other important equipment are not properly and routinely calibrated. This may sound picky but it can be a large difference with some issues. . Make sure you obtain all visit clinical notes after each visit. You will be very surprised the inaccuracies and false statements found in them. They appear to use stock phrases without properly editing them or maybe not editing on purpose for the reason to cover themselves later? . The waiting area is very small and poorly laid out. Most animals there are not an issue but if an ill tempered animal is present you may not be able to avoid them. . Unfortunately many veterinarians these days have gone the same bad route as many human Doctors and this practice is accelerating their pace in that direction. So sad to see that e are not able to find great veterinarian operations anymore. read more

Formerly a great vet, this place has turned into a money mill. I took my elderly lab there because he was having problems getting up and down. He would whimper. I was given a NSAID and we agree the path forward was to keep the dog "comfortable" for the rest of his days. I was given 14 pills and told to give him one pill every day for two weeks. The pills worked so well that I only gave him one pill when he had a flare up. The pills lasted six months. I called back for a refill and was told I would need to bring him back in for full bloodwork before they would give me a prescription refill. What a joke. I don't want to load up a dog, in pain, and drive him 20 miles for bloodwork that won't alter the course of his life. The receptionist said it was "law" that they have to check bloodwork which is so stupid I don't even have to google it. I have been taking my animals there since I moved to Texas in 2001. I am now an EX-customer of theirs. What a joke. read more

I can't thank Dr.Reid and the staff enough for their attention and care of my wiener dog, Paisley . They were kind enough to see her immediately after she injured her back. Dr. Reid truly cares about her fur patients and keeps costs low. She followed up with me almost daily just to see how she was doing. I like Rockwall County Veterinary Clinic. The doctors are all super nice. They treat you like a family member. Dr. Albers is sweet but by luck of the draw, Dr. Clemons has been Lil' Pete the stripey kitten and Bear the bulldog's doctor, nearly exclusively. I like her very much, she's sweet but also has a no-nonsense way about her that makes me feel like she's got our backs. I did blurt out the first time I met her "I've had to put a kitten and a puppy down in the last 6 months, you gotta make sure these guys live" and she promised me she'd do her very best. Sorry about that, Dr. Clemons, but I appreciate you understanding my angst. Both Lil' Pete and Bear had hernias and both had testicles. Those got to go! Dr. Clemons did a great job (this was actually Bear's third hernia fix - two from another vet- and this one finally worked) and both have healed up nicely. Both act as if they still have their man'hoods, still wild as ever, both have ZERO chill. Maybe she forgot and left the "chill" in, on accident ;). We boarded Bear the bulldog there for a long weekend and he hated it, got diarrhea and everything. But he hates everything besides eating and slobbering on the couch or on my bed, he's like a man and he's hard to please. They still took great care of him and I would trust Rockwall County Vet Clinic with him, if I have to board him again (and they're cheap)! Have I been to more boutique'y vets before? Yes. Have I been to a vet that I feel knows animals and is making the right decisions before? Yes- but I get a real feeling for this place, the vets are knowledgeable and I feel confident they will take care of us, all of us Northcutts, until the end. read more

This place is incredible. For four years I drove far out of my way for my medically complex Rhodesian to be seen only by Dr. Albers. Within her first few visits with him after moving to Dallas from another state, he identified her undiagnosed autoimmune disorder and her quality of life immediately improved. When she was 7 and got very sick from it flaring, he was supportive and honest about our options. And this past year when she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, it was his thoroughness that gave me the knowledge I only had about a week left with her. And I got to make that the best week of her life. Dr. Albers (and Dr. Taylor a few times) was the only GP vet I would let treat my soul dog, even if that meant going far out of my way. It was chaotic the moment I walked in the door. I asked if it was always like this, they said Yes, every day. I had 2 dachshunds in for their first visit, so ofcourse they didn't know the staff and didn't necessarily want to just go with them, I needed help untangling myself so an assistant took the leash of the other, ofcourse the dog didn't want to go with her so she just kept pulling the leash and dragging the dog, coughing and choking. I told her to stop and give me the leash. Then, during the checkup, one dog wasn't resistive at all, and 1 was a little bit, so when he tried to backup a little, the assistant grabbed him by the throat with both hands and her forearm and held him down, ofcourse he then wanted to get away so she gripped his throat even harder. then nail clipping time, they flipped them both over ontho their backs , not gently, and then proceeded to clip holding the clippers the WRONG way whereas it pinched the nerve with every clip, thus the dog wanted to get away. As such, the assistant held my female down with her forearm over her throat and said she's trying to bite me. I told her no she isn't,(she has NEVER tried biting anyone ever) but your hurting her by clipping incorrectly and freaking her out but pinning her down by the throat! same thing done to my male. then when we were almost done, I remembered I forgot to ask the vet to see if she can take a closer look in my males mouth bc he had been digging and clawing at his mouth so I asked the tech who went to tell the vet only for her to comeback and say, "She said he won't let her look in his mouth" and that was it. She didn't even come back in to TRY! I don't appreciate my doxies being manhandled when they are know for their backs easily going out, I had one that did. and simply being dismissed, and I don't like the idea of daily chaos in the vet office. Also, the techs need training on how to clip nails correctly! No thanks, I wont be back. read more

We just moved to Rockwall in August, and I was relived to know we moved next to a veterinarian. I needed a quick visit for my cat, and the staff were so helpful. Even with Covid, and needing to wait in the car, it was calming to know I was close, and the staff kept me appraised of my Mango. It was nothing serious, but he did need an antibiotic injection. He is a very sweet tempered cat, and the staff and Dr. Albers were awesome with him! read more

We've taken Coco, the boxer mutt, to Rockwall County Vet Clinic ever since we adopted her from Garland Animal Shelter in 2014. She loves them as much as we do! Boarded my pups here for a night. I'm not a client but I did bring all their shot/vet records so they knew they were current and well taken care of. I take care of my boys better than some people take care of their children. I understand that places need certain policies with which they run their practice. However, there are exceptions to every rule. After asking four different people to please allow my two teacup/miniature boys to be allowed to sleep in the same kennel, they continued to argue it was best for the dogs. I think I know what is best for my dogs, not someone who has never spent a split second with them. I finally conceded as it was only one night of boarding. Only to pick them up to a bill that was 3 times more than what it should have been because they require an initial visit since they aren't patients. No one informed me of this. It was no where on the paperwork and I was already displeased so this sealed the deal for me. If they had informed me up front I could have discussed with them or had them speak with their actual vet. So one night of boarding for two dogs that weigh a COMBINED 10 pounds cost over $100! And of course they came home starving because they don't do well when under stress and being separated at night didn't help the situation. I'm sure the vet is great but I think they need to be flexible with their policies, listen to their patients' parents, and communicate with people who entrust their fur babies to their care. My little angels have been seen by all 3 vets at this clinic and they are all good and know their stuff. A few years ago when I brought my puppies here for the first time, Dr Taylor let them lick all over his face (something I hadn't let them do to me!), and you could tell he really loves animals. At the moment, Dr. Albers is the doctor that I see when I need to take one of my doggies in. This is a top-notch practice. The staff is nice and professional and there's no funky odor permeating the air like you tend to find at other places. My only complaint and reason I'm not giving this review a 5-star rating would be because the prices are high (for everything, including medication), but that's to be expected when you go to a nice place vs. a low-overhead place. I've been down the low-overhead route before and in the end, it just wasn't worth it with all the nickel & dimeing they would do. Nowadays, I take my little ones somewhere else for routine maintenance and save this place for the serious ailments. read more

I took my 7 year old pit bull here because a friend refered them to me . Dr Taylor was great ! He was so sweet to Dozer and gave him lots of love and answered all our questions and was very friendly . He didn't make us feel rushed an he wasn't pushy about anything . I was more than happy with the price ! I've never walked out of a vets office under 50 bucks ! Staff was also very sweet and gave my baby lots of loving . Two weeks ago my Min Pin puppy broke his right front leg. I called the vet that I have been going to for years and they told me that he was not in for the day. She said for me to call a vet in Rowlett on highway 66. I did and they were soo Rude! Told me they could look at him but wouldn't be able to do anything today.... all this time my little Baxter ..is screaming . My husband had taken my 15 yr old Min pin to be put to sleep and I found out he had taken him to Dr. Taylor. Well I called them and they were absolutely incredible . The entire staff is awesome!!
