I don't know how this business has earned such poor reviews other than most people today complain more than they give thanks. This review is long overdue. Over the past year I have been taking my dogs to Pappy's Pet Lodge usually about 3 days at week, and am so thankful to have found this place and most of all team that had helped me manage my dogs while going through a difficult time and commuting into the city. They have gone over and beyond being patient and flexible with me and my crazy schedule and am so thankful as it has made a difference taking my dogs to a place i know they enjoy with people that treat them well. Update to your Response: I will not accept your response and explanation to be accurate. The price change was Never communicated to me or my husband when we dropped Janice off for boarding. Bailee has never boarded there. We would have been pleased to have Janice walked several times a day and have payed the ridiculous extra fee for daycare. Janice was drenched in her own feces and urine as well as her dog bed. As for the grooming day- I called Bob at 9:26 to let Julie know we were right around the corner and might be a little late. (I have photos to prove it which is silly but I'm fed up with Bob's lies) I dropped Bailee off at 9:37 am (to be exact). Never mentioned anything about having car trouble or 11:30 ???? Maybe you have me mixed up with another customer? We have always dropped Bailee off around 9-9:30 because Julie doesn't start the grooming until 9:30 and we were told by Bob and other staff that Julie doesn't work the dogs 1st one in, 1st one out. This has been the case since we started grooming there for years, which has always worked out for Bailee because of her arthritis, she doesn't spend a lot of time waiting in a crate. Your response shows anyone who reads this review, the type of customer service or (lack of) they have to look forward to. This is a terrible company. Do not use. We brought our Border Aussie in for a free trial daycare and was told when we picked her up that she did great and had even made a friend. Took her back a few days later and they refused to let her in. She is nervous and scared when meeting new people and this was made clear on the first day and I was reassured that they had many dogs that were the same. Do not trust this company with your fur baby as they do not know how to properly handle dogs. Reply: I appreciate your response but you may have been given wrong information by the staff. Ruby, her sibling, was not brought with her the first day Jupiter was dropped off and nor will Ruby ever be brought to this facility as I am sure she would be treated the same. The staff member the first day Jupiter was brought in was very patient and understanding which is why Jupiter felt more comfortable. When I brought her in again the female staff member was familiar with Jupiter and was again being patient. Jupiter was in no way acting violent with the female employee. The male employee, who she had never met, was however not at all patient with her. He disliked the fact that she was barking at him and that she did not want him to approach her because he was unfamiliar. A professional company should know how to handle all dogs and understand each one is different. At the very least they could have read the very detailed notes I provided when first registering her. And what profanity are you speaking of??? I said no such thing, and to accuse me of that is absurd. I politely said "bye" when I left. read more

We used to use The Colony location for grooming services for a year or so with no issues. We recently moved so decided to try out this location. 1st time here was a few months ago, called to schedule an appointment and was told we would get a call back to schedule it once they called and obtained the records from The Colony location. About 4-5 days later, I received a voicemail asking if we wanted to re-schedule since we no-showed our appointment. No-one had ever called us to book an appointment! I called on Monday this week, and left a voicemail, asking if someone could call us back to schedule a groom for our dog. It is now Wednesday evening, and no-one has returned our call. It doesnt appear this location is interested in our business, so we will be taking it elsewhere. read more

Responding to Bernadette W. ( business manager): In regards to your comment that I was told incorrectly that the exotics do not have a separate room away from the dogs...that was my only concern. So they do have a separate room? I begged to speak to the caretaker familiar with ferrets and I was denied that. The reason, and only reason, the person I spoke to shut me down was because I asked if they didn't have a separate room, then how could the cage be cleaned safely, as it needs to be cleaned daily. My cage is large. As large as they come, for the most part. But with 2 ferrets, and one person cleaning, it would be difficult to keep them inside during the process. As far as your comment regarding my question about having out of cage play? That was never an issue. So tell me again why I was denied service at your facility for asking questions and given the wrong information? read more

Our pet when coming back home from the lodge we noticed his testees were red/inflamed. Now we have to take him to the vet today for a diagnosis. We left him there for 4 days and I would have appreciated an update that this was happening. His testees were a nice healthy pink. I m not accusing the establishment of abuse but, I paid a lot of money and thought my pet would be watched more closely. Obviously that was not the case. read more

Bob has labeled our dog as being aggressive with zero reason. Truth is Bob accepted him two times prior to being fixed. Our dog was a stray we took in and so we had not been able to get him fixed due to covid. The second time our dog stayed Bob discovered he wasn't fixed and kept him locked in his cage for 7 days during our vacation. Bob lied and said he was aggressive. His staff told me it was because he wasn't fixed yet and Bob was mad because he was there prior to being fixed. So weird because the first stay our dog was out playing with the others and everything was cool. Now all of a sudden he is aggressive. Our dog is now fixed and Bob still treats him like an aggressive dog. It seems like he is holding a grudge because he got caught in his own lie. During his stay this week I asked Bob if our dog did good. He said he thought so but he would ask his staff. But he also said I would be the first to know if there was a problem. Well....Bob asked his staff and then comes to tell me that he was a problem. But I thought I would be the first to know? What happened to that. Instead Bob continues to keep him locked up and take our money. Bob is a trainer with a cute K9 sticker on his truck. If our dog is a problem why don't you offer training? Why don't you help explain to us what you are seeing? You can't because you are making it up. We will not be doing business here anymore which is clearly the outcome Bob trying to achieve. read more

Pappy's is a really great doggie daycare and doggie spa! I am new to the area, and needed a place for my dogs to go while I was dealing with my new digs and with some work related items. My furballs also needed a trim. I booked this place and it was super easy and reasonable!!! I am so picky about how my Yorkies' hair. But they looked just beautiful when they came home. I also, needed to schedule another day of daycare and they worked my guys right in!!! I love that they have nanny cams, so I can watch my little ones playing! Their prices are beyond reasonable!! The staff is amazing and so sweet! They sent me pictures of my pups as soon as they were done with their cuts. The manager is so nice and they support local rescues. It's just a great place! We have been taking our pet since Pappy's has taken over and its been great! Our dog loves coming and everyone who works there is always friendly. We do daycare and boarding several times a month. For daycare, the dogs stay out most of the day with a couple nap time sessions and if they are boarding they get pretty good time outside unless its a holiday then they are inside most of the day. One of the best features is there are webcams not only in the rooms but in the general play area as well as outside. We highly recommend Pappy's in Rockwall. read more

Boarded our dogs for thanksgiving break only to come back to a sick dog she had to be taken to an emergency vet same day we picked her up from boarding only got to spend 3 hrs with her and she had to stay another 2 days in the emergency vet hospital off beltline. Come to our surprise with a place we thought we could trust she had pneumonia and was limping. She is usually a super upbeat ecstatic, fun loving dog and when we returned she was the opposite. She looked distressed and in pain. This is the second time we used them the first when our house was being built and again one of are dog came home sick with kennel cough. Our dog caught a viral infection that just cost us 3,400 and paid Pappy's 1000 for boarding. I will be boarding them with our veterinarian now just to be safe. Very disappointed in this place not once did they tell us she was sick and also didn't tell us she wasn't eating. She was put on a IV after looking like she hasn't ate in days. Our poor puppy was/is in so much pain. Please I beg of you if even a ounce of you cares for your animals DO NOT use this place. read more

In the past I recommended this place due to the fact of having one good experience there... that was a mistake. The owner/founder sure puts on a good show of pretending he cares. 1. They will try to guilt trip you into things and try to make petty things your fault. 2. There dozens of dogs at this place all crammed together. 3. They come out smelling horrible. 4. Mine was limping when I got him back. 5. The owner will actually yell at you and call names for asking questions.... horrible experience. Company just out to make $$. Manager of this facility, Bob is rude and unprofessional. I reserved for my 2 dogs for drop off on Memorial Day; I was leaving around 2pm. On that day, I looked on the website for drop off hours and only saw the normal weekend hours of 10-12, or 5-7. I tried to call several times and no one answered the phone for me to ask drop off hours. We arrived around 11:30 and were informed that the drop off hours were only 5-7p. I had them call the manager who told me that they always tell the drop off hours. I reminded Bob, manager, that I had spoke to him and he had not told me or I wouldn't have reserved, since I had to be out of town by 2pm. He said that the computers weren't on for check in and that it would take him an hour to get there. I told him that would be fine, and he said, "I was being facetious". I thanked him as I now had no where for my dogs to go and left. About 30 min later I received a text from the staff asking if someone could drop off my dogs at 4:30. I reminded her I was leaving at 2. I then received a phone call from Bob about 1:30 saying, "I told you I would be here in a little over an hour and you aren't here.", which he never did. When I called him back he argued with me about his lies. I asked for his manager and he gave me an email. Sent an email and heard nothing. I WAS a loyal customer for over a year. No more. No one ever apologized for the rudeness of Bob and his lack of taking responsibility for his mistakes. read more

We have taken our pets to Pappy's on numerous occasions and have mostly been satisfied with the service. However, over the 4th of July we were very disturbed when the pets were locked in the rooms for most of the day. We even had to call and request they be let out for a bathroom break ( about 9 a.m.). They had been in since shortly before 7 the prior evening. The dogs were unusually stressed upon arrival at home and on the second day we called and asked about the weekend overall. The lady said she would check and call us back which she did and through the conversationshe admitted that they were short handed over the week end and were unusually crowded. Now both pets have severe kennel cough. We called and asked if any other cases had been reported and it was confirmed that others are having similar issues. Very disappointed. Spent over 300 the past month here and expected a little better service. read more
