I came in for my birthday & did not get the result I wanted. Not only did I come in for a consultation, but came out not blonde, but brunette. Raquel assisted and she did not even take out the orange in my hair (there was a band at the end). Poor quality products are used as well. Came twice for my toner, the first time a girl had to help Raquel the girl doing my hair telling her what to use to neutralize my hair. Second time I came in, Raquel said "oh lol i didnt write what I used on you the first time." After saying SHE WROTE DOWN WHAT SHE USED so the next time I came in, it was already in my notes -________- I ended up paying $400 for the service & $70/toner (which only lasts 2 washes). Re-did my hair after 6 months today & she did such a great job, I had to come here & post the poor job & quality the establishment offers. After 6 months and having to grow out my hair due to the poor job performed at Ponte Catrina, I finally have the blonde I wanted & only paid $300!!! read more

Edwinny did a phenomenal job on my hair! My hair was thin and flat just nothing going on with it and I was honestly scared that the bleaching would mess up my hair even more. Or that the color would be very yellow. On the contrary though my hair looks more alive and super classy and fabulous. Everything came out great! I like it a lot! My friends have been hyping up this salon, telling me it's the best place to go for my hair. I made an appointment last week for today at 2pm. It was the soonest appointment they had. I am a nurse and work night shifts, so for the appointment today, I only got a couple hours of sleep to make it on time. When I arrived to the salon, the stylist told me she "couldn't fit me in" because she had a makeover that had just arrived. I waited for ten minutes just to be told they can't fit me into my own appointment. Take note, I made an appointment because it fits around my schedule, not theirs. She didn't offer to reschedule, she just told me they can't fit me in today and I walked out the door. I understand that my service was simply a haircut, and not a $500 service, but all service appointments should be respected. I am very disappointed in the service I received today. Their scheduling and stylist team need to be considerate of other people's time. It is disrespectful and a waste of my time. After I emailed the owner about my disappointment, Jackie called me back and asked to reschedule my appointment. After this experience, I do not wish to step foot in there again. Then I tried calling again this week. No answer so I tried to do an appt request via Google. It has stayed "appt request has not been confirmed" for a couple of days now. I really like this place. Even though it's a far drive from me and a little pricy I'm willing to take the drive and pay the price because they do a really good job on getting the color I want and lifting my hair ( Hispanic hair is really hard to lift ) the only reason why I can't give it a 5 star or say I completely love it is because they don't do a good job at covering grays. I've noticed this same thing the last 2 times that I was there. I don't have a lot of grays but the little that I have I wished they would cover so that I can stop using my L'Oréal magic root touch up for a few days at least. The box color I use covers up my grays better then the base this salon uses. I noticed the base color doesn't last very long either maybe because they put it in on wet hair , I don't know, I'm not the expert. These pictures posted are from my color yesterday and I haven't even washed my hair yet. I noticed it when I walked out of the salon but was in a hurry to meet friends for a dinner so I didn't say anything. I would still recommend. read more

I Loved this place! Super clean and well put place . Would definitely recommend CHIQUIS! I originally had planned to get a caramel balayage Eventho I wanted I really wanted blonde but I just didn't have it in me to go for it , I told Chiquis & she Convinced me ! She told me what would be the best option so I ended up going blonde ! She got me out my comfort zone, I trusted her and she definitely delivered ! I Loved the result !! I was introduced to this awesome salon after following my hairstylist Saul from another place. You know, because once you find someone that you love, you will follow them wherever they go (honestly - even if he moved out of state - I'd go get my hair done by him) He is so thorough with the haircut, in assessing what color would look good. Honestly, I usually go in and give him some general parameters (low maintenance cut - haircolor that will last a long while), and he mixes and paints my hair using the balayage technique -it's the route that I always go. To be honest, I usually do it once a year and this particular color has gotten me so many compliments (youthful & vibrant - heck thank you!). The staff at Ponte Catrina were so nice, and there were so many women with gorgeous colors/cuts everywhere. A huge plus is that it's in this fabulous building with super interesting murals and art. I am unhappy with the results on my hair. I felt like Claudia rushed doing my hair which should have been the first red flag. She seemed to be in a bad mood and was rude. She didn't seem to listen when I said I wanted something natural looking. I explained I didn't want to go super light. I wanted something more of a brown. I ended up with a gold bialage. I also asked for a haircut and she ended up giving me a trim and charging me for a full haircut. After going home I realized that my hair was still brassy. I called the salon to explain the situation and asked to come in for a toner to properly fix the brassiness in my hair. I was charged $65 to get my hair toned. In total I ended up paying $340 to get my hair done. I am very unhappy with my hair. read more

I had an appointment at Pomte Catrina for hair dye, balayage, and cut, I have to say it's super expensive $325.00 not including the tip, Left my hair uneven i had to get another haircut this time I went to someone else they asked me who messed up my hair! The right side of my hair was 2 inches longer than the left side! So disappointed I spend over $400. Never again, I don't see the hype for this salon! WASTE OF MONEY! I recently went into Ponte Catrina salon with a booked appointment for full baby lights over the phone. I am a medical student, I rarely have time for myself because my whole life right now its just studying. I decided to treat myself after a final exam and book with them since I had gotten a balayage done back in November 2020 and really liked it. The salon is a bit of a drive for me, I have to take the express way to get their so I left an hour early as soon as my exam ended. I ended up being late by 13 minutes, I called the salon ahead of time saying I was going to be late and they told me about their 15 min policy, which is fine I understand. I ran up to the salon and I sat in their chair. My hair stylist told me how he wasn't able to do full baby lights because that took three hours, so we decided to do partial baby lights. The total service lasted around 5 hours.... which in my head I was confused as to why I didn't receive just the full service. I got my hair blowed dried and straightened even though I wanted curled, because it was less heat on my hair they said if I got it straightened. I was charged $300, which was a bit surprising considering my full head balayage was $180. I got to my car and my hair was still damp on the inside and so freezy because I have thick Latina hair. I noticed a few days later when I washed my hair, how half my head was blonde and half was black. I got so mad and annoyed because I felt so ripped off. I reached out to the owner claudia, and at the beginning she was nice apologizing to me asking me for more info. The next day I noticed she blocked me from the salon's instagram page. I never asked for money back or for them to redo my hair, I just voiced my opinion about MY OWN HAIR. I think it was very unprofessional the way she handled the situation. I thought this salon had great potential. I followed their social media page and their postings were all amazing. All enough to get me into the salon. Unfortunately, the stylist I had scheduled my hair color with (I won't mention her name) had to leave the salon and I was very understanding of that. Since, I had scheduled this hair appointment a while back I had to get in that day because of my work schedule. Ponte Catrina rescheduled me with another stylist, on the same day. Little did I know that she would be working on me and on her own client. I wish I had known that. As I spoke to the stylist, I showed her a picture of what I had wanted, it sounded like she understood and went on with doing my hair. Hours later, this stylist completely washed away my original color and did not come close to the original picture I had shown her. Now, I am NOT the expert. If the picture I had shown her was unrealistic . . please tell me because hair is an investment and I completely hated my hair. At the end of my appointment, I completely hated my hair. The stylist asked me to speak to Jackie, the manager. I did. Jackie's response was for me to go home and to see how I felt after a week of having the color. Not at all, what don't you like? How could we make this better? Maybe try rescheduling me with the person you had originally wanted your hair done with. Nope, told me to go home. I reluctantly paid even though I STILL had the product at the base of my head. I realized after she said she was done doing my hair. Done doing my hair? There's product in my hair still! After spending 4 hours at the salon, I would still have to go home and wash my hair. I was infuriated. After a week I call Jackie back and she connects me with the owner. She was the most unprofessional out of everyone I had spoken to. I thought I would be able to redo my hair after explaining what had happened. Again, I am assuming that out of anyone I talk to at the salon the owner would be the one to resolve the issue. We go on to exchange phone calls and even texts and I think we're coming to a solution when she offers to do my hair. (Great, right?). She informed me through text that we could schedule my appointment, but at the time that I scheduled the appointment the price would be going up and I would have to pay more for a service. She had offered a complimentary bowl which I thought was the least she could do for having one of her stylists completely ruin my hair. In the end, I had to text her and ask her if I could please reschedule due to a family emergency. No text back, no call back, not anything from her. If you can't run a business don't. Ponte Catrina lacks professionalism. They do an awesome job promoting themselves, but could care less about how they treat their clients. Make your appointments elsewhere, plenty of places in Chicago that could do your hair and also treat their clients with kindness and respect while also valuing your time. read more
