There is no competition. Anytime I have been to the movie I have had a pretty decent time. Popcorn is good. Nachos are good. My son likes it and that is all that matters. All of the young people who work there are always nice and polite. Well groomed. If I could give it a zero I would. The general manager who was working was extremely rude and bitchy. We had purchased student tickets but one of us didn't have our physical student id. We tried to use the StudentVue app which has online copies of our student ids, she was rude to not only us but the other staff member, she repeatedly yelled at us. The other staff member then asked if it was okay if he didn't charge us for a new ticket since the regular ticket and student ticket were the same price and the manager then yelled at him too. She was incredibly rude and stuck up throughout the entire situation and the most unhelpful person I have ever met. She made multiple rude comments about paying attention and reading the website when the person who had purchased our tickets said that the only thing the website talked about when she purchased the tickets was that you can't sneak in food. I would not recommend coming back in especially if this lady is working, it's disgusting how she treats her customers and employees. read more

This was my first time taking my son to this theater. We had nothing but a horrible experience! Nora at the front desk harassed ONLY me about bringing my bag into the theater even though every other person had one. She also made me empty my sweater pockets with my wallet and keys. We had constant film pausing and losing conversations during about 15 looooooong minutes of the previews. When it paused it was making loud feedback noise comparable to feedback from a guitar. People in the audience were actually gasping. My son went and complained. They said they fixed it. It worked until the last 30 minutes of the movie when it started back up again. We kept hoping it would get better and then my son (I have a disability and couldn't go) didn't want to lose the last part of the movie. Another customer and I went o tell the manager and she was so incredibly rude and lacking in compassion I was shocked to find out she had made it to head manager position. She actually said we couldn't get free passes to compensate for the loud jarring noise and missing someone of the movie because we didn't go in and tell them there was a problem near then end. People were hoping it would get better or thinking they were monitoring the movie. How would we know they weren't seeing it and trying to fix it?? She said we watched the whole movie and so we couldn't get passes. How many times should we get up to tell the staff there is a problem How ruined should the movie be for us to get passes? She said we didn't' miss any of the movies (I guess sitting through 15 minutes of jarring noise during the previews and 30 minutes of jarring noise and missing full conversations is not missing the movie?????). She said if you look at your tickets they say no refunds. No refunds if the movie is messed up? She is one of the rudest managers I've even met in my life. read more

Clearly being the only theatre in town gives this poor excuse of a establishment their way of treating any consumer. Very rude service, checked in every half hour to tell us how we need to sit and was extremely over the top about anything they believed was out of line. Will not be returning, expensive tickets and mediocre qualities throughout the rest of the cinema experience. Went to the matinee for San Andreas 3D. Not much of a discount. Still cost $9.25 for a ticket. You get your own personalized 3D glasses. No scratched glasses here. Fast and friendly service. Clean theater. No sticky floors. Doesn't smell like a dirty theater. Has all your basics for snacks. Popcorn, hot-dogs, candy, soda ect.... Clean restrooms. Last night my daughter and I decided to go see Small Foot. It is a rare treat that we get to go to the movies so we were excited. I went to the concession stand to pay for my tickets and after clarifying it was for one adult and one child (after they almost rung me up for two children) we paid and went into the movie. The cashier forgot to give me my credit card so luckily they found us in the theater and returned it. So far so good. About 30 minutes into the movie the cashier came back into the theater looking for me and asked to look at my ticket. She told me she thought she did not charge me for one of my tickets. So I told her I would be glad to come to her after the movie and pay. She left and then returned to tell me her manager wanted me to come out and pay now. I reassured her again that I would pay for the ticket after the movie. She had now interrupted me twice and now I had lost my place in the movie and was pretty bummed about the interruption. Believe it or not, the manager and the cashier both came into the movie (this is the 3rd interruption) and escorted me and my daughter out of the movie theater insisting that I pay for my ticket. Mind you that the cashier is the one that made the mistake (I still am not sure if I paid for one or two tickets as the cashier had asked me if I wanted my receipt and I declined...I won't ever do that again) and yet they treated me as though I was stealing. It was so upsetting. I asked for my money back and just wanted to leave. They made a big deal that they could not refund my money but would give me a come back ticket. I was flustered at this time and said "whatever just give me the tickets" (plural) and the manager made a big deal to now correct me that she was only giving me the one ticket I paid for. The cashier said "we are just doing our jobs". I am shocked at how they treated me and worse than that this is all in front of my daughter. These two girls ruined our entire evening. I am so sad this is the only theater near us and I hope no one has to go though what we did. It was so embarrassing and we did not get to see the movie we were so excited to see. read more

This is the only movie theater in the area but when we're out of town, sometimes we'll go see see a movie and it reminds us how bad the Pony Village Cinema sucks. This theater has small seats with comparable leg room to flying coach in an airplane. While watching a movie, the whole time I'm trying to find a comfortable position in these hard, small seats. Other theaters have leather seats that offer more personal space with comfortable arm rests, better speakers, more leg room, some are heated and recline, and some places even serve alcohol and food other than junk. There's been multiple times we want to go see a movie but always remember how bad this theater is, so we just wait to rent the movie when it's available. This cinema definetely needs to step it's game up for an enjoyable movie experience. read more

They seem to have finally gotten rid of the crabby manager lady. Good! After months, they also finally fixed the self-serve ticket kiosk in the lobby. But when we used it today, it didn't spit out our tickets. To her credit, the young woman who helped us didn't get all gummed up or make us late fir the movie. She just took our word for it, walked us into the theater, and let us get on with it. Good work! (BTW, the charge did go through on our credit card, so she absolutely did the right thing.) These guys are also participating in "Flashback Cinema" which is a great chance to see classic films on the big screen. We've seen Princess Bride and North by Northwest that way. But up in Portland you can see a movie that's only a few weeks old for $3 while eating pizza and drinking beer. So you'd think these people would at least offer these old movies at the same kind of discount. I mean, people lured in to see a classic may still shell out big bucks for popcorn, candy, or drinks. Plus maybe they'll see a trailer for a new movie they'll come back for. As it is, there are only a handful of people who show up for these movies. Very poor marketing if you ask me. read more

So what can you say about the ONLY theater in town that plays current releases? You say you're only there because it's convenient. Tickets The first time I came here I was baffled. Having to stand in the concession line, just to buy movie tickets is such an asinine move. Not only do I have to wait for the people to finish ordering their popcorn, nachos, fountain drink or whatever, I also have to wait for the slow concession attendants who move at a snail's pace. So you learn to come 30 min earlier instead of 15. Besides that, prices are in-line with others theaters if not, maybe slightly cheaper. Just depends on where you are coming from. Concessions As you can already tell, I'm not really a fan. Popcorn is overpriced and just not really great movie theater popcorn. Believe it or not, there are different grades of popcorn and butter theaters can get. All theaters hike their concessions, because it's where they make their money. You could go to a nice dinner beforehand, or spend it on popcorn and a drink. Your call. Theater Seats aren't the worst I've been in. Arm rests fold up...I think. Are they clean? I can't really tell because it's fairly dark. Floors are sticky like all theaters and they do have proper lighting to see where you're walking. The screen isn't as big as others, but it's what it is. There is stadium seating though, so at least it's modern. Overall, I've been in better and worse theaters, but what irritates me the most is having to purchase tickets at the concession stand. It's the only theater in this town that plays current movies and that's a shame. This place only gets my business when I really want to see a movie. read more

I'm writing this review because we were pleasantly surprised by our experience, especially after all the negative reviews. My main concern was the quality of the screen. We come to this area of the Oregon coast every year. We wanted to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Unfortunately it was the opening weekend so we went early (30 minutes early). We were the second group inside the theater. Everybody started walking in within minutes of the start of the film. Very different than what we're used to. Yes, there is nobody in the ticket booth, yet we were the frist ones in line. The large popcorn was $8 and the large soda was around $5. The entire cost for us Californians was just under $40 for the three of us. The cost of going to the this theater is actually lower than what I'm used to in California even without the no sales tax you Oregonians should never take for granted. The entire facility was exceptionally clean. Not a single popcorn on the floor. The floors were not sticky in the theater, nor did I notice any garbage. These are my only complaints and they are minor. 1. The theater was small. The screen appeared to be smaller than your conventional movie theater screen. The image quality was better than I expected. 2. The popcorn was old. I think it was the same popcorn that was made earlier that day. I would assume they would make a new batch before the showing of a popular movie. 3. Overall, the theater was a little dated. I expected a full house for a movie of this caliber. If I was a local, I would be afraid to lose this gem. read more

Was visiting for the holidays. My family and i watched Star Wars here on Christmas Day for $6.50 per person. If you think that's expensive you must have lived here your entire life! In Salem it's over 12 bucks to see a movie, per person, for a regular movie (not 3d). There was a line for tickets but it went by really fast. The theater is on the small side, but not too small. Perfect size for this city. It was clean too. The refreshments tasted good.. A bit pricey but that's how it is everywhere. The seats were comfortable. Definitely not the best theater I've been to but not bad especially for such a small town. read more

Went to go see The Avengers age of Ultron opening night, while in the theater some guys behind me we're saying derogatory things about Mexicans and praising Hitler. I believe the derogatory speech was aimed at me, being that I am of Hispanic descent and the only Hispanic person in the theater. I understand the community in the Coos Bay Area is predominately Caucasian, but its ignorant people like this that keep this community shackled to poverty. the area is beautiful but the people are not. Paid more for one popcorn and one soda than for the two movie tickets after matinee and student discount. All movie theaters are known for their outrageous concession prices but this was really ridiculous, I think it was seven or eight dollars for a large soda, so i opted for the six dollar small size. If you're okay without some snacks then I'm sure your experience will be more pleasing than mine, I was just ticked off about the price. And the movie tickets were about thirteen for two tickets with a four dollar student discount. I was impressed by the two dollar discount per student, and the cleanliness of the theater, but the cashier and the ticket taker were rude. So all and all, not an awesome experience. But where else are you going to go to see a movie around here? read more

For a large theatre with many screens it is run very loosely. We got there for the first show of the day. They opened the door only 10 minutes before the movie started. They had trouble with the lights in the theatre so we walked in with the lights at movie level. Very dark. Some people bumped their legs and some had to get escorted in with flashlights. However, once the movie started everything was fine. So, if you want a bare bone experience and you are in the area it should be fine. If you want to have an evening where nothing will get you upset, maybe try somewhere else, if there is anywhere else. It is a movie after all. The theatre should get out if the way so you can enjoy the movie. This place did not. read more
