Not only was their price very good, they offered what they call a "hybrid" involving both foam and fiberglass.

When we bought our house many years ago I discovered a thin layer of blown in cellulose insulation…read morein the attic. It wasn't very even and being a bit of a handy man I added fiberglass batts over top. That made our house more comfortable. But since then we've had a couple of remodels, new roof, etc. In recent summers we noticed that the skylights in our house were much hotter than we remembered them being so one day I climbed up in the attic and saw that some areas had no insulation while others had far more than was needed. We decided we needed to have the insulation "fixed" - whatever was needed. A few weeks ago I called OJ Insulation in Morgan Hill. One of their estimators replied with a time to come by and we soon had an estimate. He agreed that we had plenty of insulation and it just needed to be "touched up"- which meant the guys would rearrange existing fiberglass to fill holes, put more strapping to hold batts thad shifted (like the skylight tunnels), etc. It wasn't practical to walk the entire attic to see exactly what was needed, so he gave me an estimate based on the living space - about $1/sq. ft. We got a time slot a few days later and on the morning a two man team showed up a few minutes early. They confirmed what I had asked to be done and they got to work. They took before and after photos which is helpful. They cleaned up and left the area spotless. It's been a couple of weeks since and we've had some hot days and I'm happy to report that there are NO hot spots in my house any more. Good job guys! Remember the estimate based on square footage? The estimator thought it would take the team 3-4 hours of work and I signed a contract of that amount of work. However, the guys were able to finish in about half that amount of time. I mentioned this to the estimator via email afterwards. He was surprised but gave me a discount on the price. I was pleased. On the basis of good work by their team and honest dealings by the management I am happy to recommend OJ Insulation.

They are very professional and have a great team. They definitely know what they are doing. I highly recommend them for any of your insulation needs. This was our second roof with Hollister Roofing (HRI). We wanted to go with a local business. Our…read morefirst experience with HRI was the roof on our newly built workshop. It was so good we called HRI when our home needed a new roof. Owner, Barry Perdue picked up when we called about getting an estimate. He made appointment to come to our home. He was on time and he delivered the detailed estimate as promised. The estimate was reasonable and offered us several choices. There was no upselling or pushing us into something we didn't want. We did experience that with another company last year. I finally had to tell them to stop calling us. The crew came out the morning of the scheduled tear off and got to work. They were hard working, efficient and respectful of us and our property. They showed up every morning at the same time. Everything was done as expected because we were informed about the process. They actually finished a half day early. Our roof looks great and our front and back yards look great because they clean up as they go. If not for the new roof I wouldn't know they had been here. They did our neighbor's roof too, and it also looks great. Barry Perdue has assembled a great crew and runs a reliable and reputable company. He cares about his product and his reputation. Barry is friendly, knowledgeable, thorough and on top of his jobs and schedule. He will update you as necessary. His fees are reasonable. Jose was in charge of the jobsite at our home. He was absolutely professional, as was the entire crew, and he was the last to leave our home yesterday upon completion. We recommend Hollister Roofing to anyone that needs a roof. We couldn't be happier about the look of the finished roof and the process. So relived it's done and happy it was done by a reputable company like Hollister Roofing. They never gave us a moment of stress or worry.

I had recently called Barry (the owner) because we had a leak around our chimney during the recent…read morerain storm. Our roof is just under 7 years old, and I found the original contract and invoice and thought maybe he could do the repair. A 7 year old roof should not be leaking if things were done correctly. The first initial phone call with Barry wasn't very friendly on his part, just seemed as though he had an attitude right off the bat. Barry calls me and advises me that he is on his way to my house. I promptly leave work and meet him there, I work two mins from home. Before I had gotten there he was already on my roof. I get out of my car about to introduce myself and he walks to the edge of the roof and says "send me those pictures you were talking about", I said okay Ill send them now. Now if Barry was any kind of professional, he would have waited for me to get home before going up on my roof. He is now walking around and shouts down " who put this tarp up here and put all these holes in your roof??" I said my Dad put the tarp up because he rain was leaking into our house. There were no holes in the roof. The nails were too short. He shouts down again, "well where is the leak you are talking about!?" I replied with "under the tarp" - "well I'm not going to look under there!" I said well would you like me to move the tarp for you? He replied with I don't even have any tools! Then huffs and puffs and said find, I'll look. He tells me he sees where the problem is. Back tracking a bit I had another roofer take a look as well, and there was a shingle that was placed incorrectly and the caulking was not done. He comes down from the roof and I asked if he could fix it. He said "well no I'm not gonna fix if it I didn't do anything wrong. If I did then I would fix it, I didn't do you can take me to court." He mentioned that the previous owner didn't like to spend a lot of money and didn't want to replace the flashing. He left and I reviewed the original invoice and contract and called Barry to let him know of this, he quickly said "oh does it say that?" If I messed it up I'll fix it, can you email that to me. So I did. No response, and with the rains coming again I was trying to get this repaired as quickly as possible. I sent a simple text message asking if he had gotten my email and asked if he could respond. Still nothing, I asked him to reply by the end of the day/ next business day. Here was his response- "OK I was going to maybe work with you but now since you're so pushy I'm gonna stick with my original thing my contract in between Mr. Goldsmith and I has nothing to do with you it's been seven years you guys put 50 nail holes around the work and that's it call my attorney BILL TIFFANY" I didn't appreciate Barry's ability to communicate or conduct business, he is completely rude and unprofessional. And after my post.. see photo. Real professional.

Cliff Pilcher was the rep that came for the consultation with the contractor. We found him challenging to work with as he markets a specific type of insulation that we did not want, Certainteed (lots of consumer complaints about the odor). He agreed to our alternative choice. But when we came to vist the remodel, Certainteed insulation was being installed. This had to be removed. Personality challenges aside, the quality of work is poor. The installation of the insulation in the attic blocked gable and eave vents. The result was excessive temperatures in the attic that we only discovered after a home security professional brought down a hot to touch transformer. When we ascended the attic stairs, we were hit with heat. A thermal image in the attic showed excessive heat as well. In other words, had we not checked the attic, our new HVAC system and other transformers would have been subjected to heat levels that would have damaged $75,000 in equipment. The crawl space insulation installation laso was poor; vents blocked, poor installation.

Both the estimator and installer were very knowledgeable. Once we were ready to sign Work agreement, they were able to come out the next day. I was super happy with the friendliness and the care that was taken to do the job properly. Today is 100 degrees and the sun is blazing, but we are cool as cucumbers. Our west-facing walls that used to be hot to the touch in late afternoon are now cool. I also can't wait to benefit from lower heating bills this winter!
