I had an unfortunate fall and was rushed by ambulance to the emergency room. I called having to cancel Katie's appointment because of the fall. It's not like we plan we visit they come up unexpectedly. I call explaining the fall and was informed because I'd previous cancellation owner expected money before the grooming appointment. My dog is in the process of being socialized, and still scared of and reactive to other dogs. So I had a long talk over the phone with the owner about whether she could schedule him at a time when no other dogs were present. She agreed and suggested an 8:45 am appointment. I made the appointment approx. six weeks in advance. When we arrived, at least five dogs were in the tiny room, in various stages of getting groomed. Imagine my dismay: the opposite of what I'd been led to believe. Of course, we turned around and left: only misery for all concerned would have ensued, had my dog stayed. All that the owner needed to say was, sorry, we can't accommodate a reactive dog. She could and *should* have said that weeks ago. What a waste of time! As my husband used to say--he had a successful career in sales-- if you don't have what the client wants, tell them where they can get it. Don't try to sell them something else. That serves no one. The only reason this review isn't a 1 is that our scheduler groomer, Savannah, was absolutely lovely, kind and understanding. What an awkward situation for her to be placed in! And she dealt with it beautifully. I've been driving an hour to Webster to get my dog groomed by Grooming by Alicia. She's terrific and understands my dog's special needs. And I'm happy to pay extra for that. It looks like I'll be going back to doing that drive. read more

my dog got groomed on Monday. The day after I noticed that he was cut a little too close to his skin. when I asked if there was something I could do, Never got a response. second text her response was that she clipped him as I always do. No closer than usual. He must be getting sensitive as he gets older. The skin gets thinner. Have you been keeping it clean and dry? I had to take him yesterday to the vet to be checked. My mom has come here for years for her two Shih Poos and always tells me how much she loves Courtney, I had recently gotten a goldendoodle puppy and Courtney seriously did amazing!! I'm also really happy they don't use crates! My dog, Ellie hates being crated at home and I really didn't feel comfortable bringing her somewhere where they leave her in a crate, but here they leave them out to see what's going on, on a leash! We sort of found this place by accident. We adopted a fat furry little yorkie mix from a rescue just as all of this covid foolishness started ramping up. Oliver has been badly in need of a grooming. (He was dirty and he stunk.) He's 8 years old or so, and we weren't sure how successful a groomer would be, as my attempt and shampooing him was an utter disaster. I dropped him off, they calmed him down, and proceeded give him a haircut and thorough cleaning. Oliver is a very skittish rescue dog, but these folks were pros. Awesome place, very reasonable priced and great people! My parents dog, Floppy, is 14yrs old and super furry. She has never been to a groomer so I was more nervous for her! My dog left looking and feeling fabulous! Poochies is awesome and this is our second time coming back for a full groom. They go above and beyond to make sure my dog has a wonderful time. They also don't do cage drying. Each visit we consulted with the groomer on drop off to discuss the style and type of cut needed. I was concerned with ticks and just wanted his hair shaved completely off.. and she advised against it because of the long term damage it could have on my dogs coat and the possibility of it not growing back (he's a very fluffy cavalier king charles spaniel). Instead, she suggested trimming it down and contouring his fur. I'm so thankful for this advice and she gave him such a stylish, cute hair cut. I took my shih tzu puppy ziggy here to be groomed for the first time. I was very happy with how nice all the staff was..I had informed them that the last place he was taken to he was not taken very well care of and would come home traumatized and have accidents all over the house. My dog, who is nervous by nature, was made to feel comfortable right away. When I picked up my dog, she looked great. I started going to Liz when she worked for Petsmart years ago. I have a poodle/cairn terrier mix who has a weird coat....and no one else ever seemed to get it right. But ever since Liz first groomed her, I've followed her wherever she is! (Liz that is). I even have since, moved to New York City and come back as frequently as I can to have Liz groom my dog. She just does such an amazing job, it's nothing any other groomer can replicate...even in NYC. I have been looking for a good groomer for my dog for about a year since I've stopped going to places like Petsmart. I found their groomers to be rude, impatient and uncaring. They aren't committed like smaller, family or individual-owned shops. Found Poochies on the web, liked the information on their website (and the good reviews) and gave them a call. They were able to take my Min Pin the same day - a Saturday - and was done with her in about an hour and a half! Very caring, friendly staff and reasonable prices. I can tell these ladies really cared about my dog and her anxiety of getting a bath and her nails clipped. They did a great job! Got my princess back with short nails, smelling great and a cute bow! Love this place! Reasonably priced and can usually get an appointment within a decent amount of time. I bring my cat here to get a lion cut (don't worry, she loves it and it's very necessary) since she has a double coat and long hair. She always comes out looking purrrfect. And, I was very impressed that I was offered the option of skipping the bath since my cat's coat was clean and dandruff free. I didn't realize that was an option at any of the previous places I've taken her. Needless to say, she is very happy skipping the water part. As with most groomers, they only have one person who does cats so scheduling can be tight, so be flexible. read more

We have come here twice as walk-ins for nail trims/filing, and anal glands for our two dogs. They are very willing to fit you in, they're done in minutes, and the price is very reasonable. $15 I believe for nails and filing. Anal glands $6 (totally worth it). After bring my dogs to Poochies for two years now (because they are finally comfortable with one groomer) and to have a awful experience saddens me. For the past few times I've had an appointment and an issue with the scheduling. And now my last time there not only was I over charged and being told I have always paid double the amount blindsided me, and my dogs were only supposed bathed by someone else and groomed with the person I always request ( for a reason ) did not happen. Which WORSENED the situation, and when I asked to speak to the owner, I was told by a groomer sorry there is nothing to be done. I did not give permission for my dogs to be groomed by someone else, I was double charged and the fact I had to blowdry and clean out both my dogs ears after being over charged is out right unacceptable. My dogs have high anxiety and this whole ordeal brought out that anxiety a dog should not feel. read more
