Let's start by saying I have a purebred, registered Siberian Husky. The breed has specific grooming do's and don'ts as I would suspect there are for all breeds. I have had one very bad experience with another groomer -not- in Tucson. Needless to say, I have been a little jumpy since. I was AMAZED at how comfortable I was with the staff and cannot say enough good things about the grooming. My dog (Maxx) is also showed no signs of distress. I left him in the care of Jim who greeted us kindly. I love how inviting the space is. There was no barking or chaos and the environment is very clean. They have a viewing window so you can see into the grooming area which, which was also very clean and organized. I left and ran to Sprouts just across the parking lot and came back to check the progress. When I peeked in the window I saw in the midst of all Maxx's "flooofies" a comfortable, happy, Maxx. His tail was wagging and that is a good sign in my book. Jim took him for a walk to "air dry" as he quickly realized that though Maxx is ok with the dryer on his body, the closer he got to the neck and face, he did not like it. So he stopped and went for an air dry walk. I remained there through the nail clipping process and it was nice to hear words of encouragement from Jim's wife after -every single cut- "Good boy!" "Good boy!" and gentle but assertive "Stop" when he did something he was not suppose to do. I really enjoyed my experience here and will be bringing Maxx back. :) read more

Have to say I'm very disappointed with Poochini's Pet Grooming and the services received today. Took my dog in for bath and cut, Received call 30 minutes later she was ready. Really? Bathed dried and cut in that short amount of time? Normally she's there close to an hour. I go pick her up and her hair is not evenly cut looks chopped and uneven. Called after and the man says she moves a lot and she isn't easy. Needless to say I won't be taking her back disappointed that they are supposed to be the professional dog groomer, Even if she does move "a lot" try spending more than 30 minutes for the services. The outcome might look better. Have been taking her there for almost 2 years, didn't seem to be a problem before. Now you want to blame the dog? How about holding the groomer accountable? read more

I've been going to Poochini's for a few years now, they are by far the best pet grooming salon in town! The staff is very friendly and it makes you feel like your part of the family. I have a German Shepard/Labrador mix and he has a lot of hair. They always take EXCELLENT care of him! So happy I found Poochinis through remarkable referrals. Have never had a long haired dog before and had my poor Goldendoodle end up in a matted mess. Not only did the owner squeeze her in but worked on Bailey herself. She showed and schooled me on the matts she removed from Bailey. Holy heck, it was like Berber carpet it was so tight. She schooled me on the correct brush to use and sold me the correct one. Everyone was soooo accommodating and kind. And now I know exactly my everyday procedures with my dog and the requirements for her as a huge swimmer. She loves the pool. The owner also guided me on their coupon specials and how to book and get the best bang for your buck along with ways to get free nail trimmings at my convenience. They are concerned & considerate, take special notice if anything doesn't quite seem right (been going there for several years & they know my pups) AND they do a great job on these little guys. I have been bringing my poodles to Poochini's since 2012 and have never been disappointed. What I like about them is: they don't crate the dogs, they work on your dog until s/he is completely groomed, and they are exceptional at managing appointments. I'm quite surprised by some of the 1 and 2 star reviews here since I've never had any of these experiences, nor have any of the 10+ friends who also go to Poochini's. I guess it has to do with personal expectations. Jim and Kathryn are wonderful business owners and all of the groomers are great. read more

If I could give them 10 stars, I would. We've been looking for a good groomer to take our dog to and each time it was a swing and a miss. But our search has finally come to an end! Love Poochini's, it's a little far but definitely worth it. I've tried Petsmart, Petco but the quality and comfort that I feel leaving my Chip at Poochini's can't compare. I've never had a problem with rude staff they were very friendly. My Chip (Morkie) can be a little over protective and aggressive at times but the young lady that handles chip knows just how to handle him and they do a good job of making sure he is well taken care of. I absolutely love going and their prices are great. :-) would recommend them to anyone with grooming needs. read more

We had the same groomer, who came to our home, for many years. Unfortunately she retired and we were left not knowing where to take our 10 year old rescued maltese terrier. Honestly, I treat my dogs like I did my kids when I was looking for a kindergarten. I went to 12 different kindergartens looking for the right one. When I had to find another groomer, I started doing the same. I went to or called over 9 different groomers in Tucson. I was not impressed. Things like wanting them to be brought in early in the morning and picked up late in the day. NO. Putting them in a cage and attaching a blow dryer to the side. NO. Keeping them in cages when they are done. NO. Rotating groomers so they rarely have the same one. Kind of like an assembly line. NO. I went to several that were down right dirty which could mean fleas and with no place to sit. NO. Some had girls that looked to be late teens with little to know experience. NO. NOT when you are using scissors on my dog. Many had no way for you to look back at the groomers nor did they want you to wait. NO. And some did not even care whether he was vaccinated or not. NO. After all of that and a couple months later, I finally discovered Poochini's. What stuck me was everything I had searched for.....they had. For starters, you are welcome to stay and wait. They have a lovely seating area in the lobby with leather furniture a television and free coffee or soft drinks. THAT means you can stay and wait which means that your dog will be groomed in an hour or whatever time they tell you. I love that! PLUS, there is a huge window that you can look through and see the groomers. They use blow dryers and blow dry them by hand. They are never put in a cage. When they are done, if you are not right back, they are put in a big toddler type play pen. I love the location because it's in the parking lot of Sprouts, Home Goods, Kohls etc. so I shop for an hour and they call me when my dog is done. If you request, your dog will have the same groomer every time. I love that because they get to know your dog and I'm sure your dog feels more comfortable with the same person. They have a program too where if you bring your dog every 8 weeks or less, than you get a super discount! And more importantly, they love animals. They are kind to them and talk to them like they are talking to someone's child. Three years later, we now have adopted 5 rescues and we are still going to Poochini's. In fact, we take all of them to Poochini's. Three of our rescues had never been groomed before and it was not easy. It was down right difficult I'm sure as they did not want a bath, much less get groomed. It was a process and I don't think anyone but Katherine and Jim along with a couple of their groomers would have ever been so patient and kind. Last Friday, I went to drop off our little rescue, Joey. Katherine took him from me and as she walked away, she kissed him on the side of the face and said, "How's my little Joey today." I think our puppies are very blessed that we found Poochini's. read more
