I booked a grooming appointment and was quoted $80 over the phone, but was charged $100 at checkout without a clear explanation or prior agreement. My dog is an 18 lb doodle with no mats (this was confirmed by the groomer herself), and I specifically requested a teddy bear cut with a reference photo. When I picked her up, the groom was significantly shorter than what I asked for and uneven/patchy in multiple areas, especially the belly. This is not how she normally comes out from grooming. I tried to call to resolve the issue and was told there is no direct contact for management. When I spoke with someone who identified themselves as the manager (same voice as the person who told me there is no way to contact management), the conversation was defensive and did not address the concerns, and I was essentially told "thanks for your feedback" in a very rude tone. The "manager" said they'd provide me with a full refund, we'll see if that turns out to be true. I'm sharing this so others are aware of the pricing inconsistency and final grooming outcome when asking for a fluffy haircut. I even specifically said at check in that I did not want her to be completely shaved off. She has bald spots and patchy areas all over her belly. Her cute fluffy beard was completely shaved off as well. I included photos of her belly that show the bald spots and patchy areas left all over. I recently came across a photo of my dog from her appointment at this groomer a year ago, and it reminded me of the horrible experience we had. After her appointment, I received a phone call informing me that my dog was no longer allowed back because she was "very aggressive." This was shocking to hear because my dog has never shown any aggression in her life. She's sweet, gentle, and has never had issues with any other groomer. What upset me the most was how she behaved in the days following the appointment. She would flinch when we lifted our hands near her, something she had never done before. This change in her behavior makes me certain that she was mistreated during her visit. To compare, I have photos of her from appointments at other groomers, where she always left happy and calm. The difference after her visit here was heartbreaking. I would strongly caution anyone considering bringing their pets here to think twice. Your pets deserve a place where they are treated with care and kindness, and unfortunately, this was not our experience. Will never be going back. For anyone working at a dog grooming place they should know the breeds and what is healthy for the breed or not healthy. We live in Arizona how the heck does it make sense to shave an Australian shepherd when it is a Breed that needs their fur for temperature regulation! WTF over all do not recommend. Picture should explain it all. My 3 pound Yorkie got butchered by them: she left a Yorkie came back like a wild baby coyote. Pretty much shaved her down and gave her no face shape. She had no knots at all to justify a shaving. I do take my dogs to get their nails trimmed there which has gone well for years but grooming there was a big mistake. Owner is super nice and very knowledgeable of dogs. But their groomers aren't the best. My mom also takes her dog there and 8/10 times he comes back looking butchered. We have been taking our dogs to Sissy's for more than 10 years, 3 dogs and never ever been anything but completely happy with the way they groom and treat our pups. When we got our current fur baby at the pound on a Sunday morning she looked almost as bad as the dog in these photos, so I called Sissy's, got Nico and asked if he had an opening, he said, just bring her in. Warning! I took my dog in for grooming. I am completely convinced that my dog was utterly abused under their care. I had many positive experiences with them in the past HOWEVER, to my disappointment I can honestly say DO NOT, take your precious dogs there. My recent experience was heartbreaking to say the least. I'm not sure if the groomer asphyxiated or gave my dog a tranquilizer? The dog was drooling and the groomer was utterly rude and unprofessional. Another groomer also joined in the conversation to back her up. The bedazzled lady. The dogs' behavior they mentioned is in no way related to my dog, which was a surprise. My dog has been to many groomers and has never behaved in the manner they describe to me. Now if the dog was being mistreated I can understand the dog defending itself. When I spoke to the owner Jason whom was arrogant, snarky, and unprofessional about the whole situation. He mentioned that his wife is a friendly and loving person? I don't know who his wife is but that was not the issue. He continued to say the dog was bad behaved and that is why they have to treat the dog that way? Really! He was argumentative and rude then he hang up on me! Really! I do feel that these owners do need to rethink their approach to animals if their business is focused on dogs. The owner of this business has no integrity, no customer service, and absolutely no empathy or compassion for any animal in his care. Run run run far away! This is the message I sent to respectfully inform this salon of the pain and trauma they've cause my dog. They had no ounce of compassion, kindness and of course no responsibility. The owner thinks because hes a supposed vet TECH, he can make a diagnosis for a dog who's been seen by 3 double board certified veterinarians who specialized in internal medicine and dermatology. Embarrassing truly. My dog does have sensitive skin and is prone to ear infections, but the specific bacterial infection he had could ONLY have come from this grooming which had been verified by a Exfoliative cytology. This salon is dirty, careless, and bacteria filled. Safe yourself and dog the pain of being seen here. " I am writing to regretfully inform you of a horrible and traumatizing experience my family and I have been enduring since my pet was bathed at your salon on August 16th. Maui is a standard poodle who I brought in for a typical full groom in August 16th. Maui has been seen before and we always request that his ears don't get plucked because he gets an infection every single time they are plucked aggressively. He was there for several hours and when we picked him up he was shaved much shorter than we typically like and his ears were very inflamed because they had clearly been plucked. We are understanding people and just let it go and began treating his ears preventatively. Within a few days, his ears were both badly inflamed and infected. I noticed his skin was irritated everywhere and thought maybe he had razor burn because of the shortness of the hair cut. We kept monitoring him and preventing him from scratching or rubbing. His ears and skin got worse so we made an appointment with our vet. At this point his entire body was red, inflamed, scabbing, bleeding, and hot to the touch. We did not realize what was going on and my vet began him on a treatment for a bacterial and fungal skin infection. The medications did not work and he continued to decline. We referred to a dermatology specialist who got him in right away. After taking a detailed history and exam they diagnosed Maui that he undoubtedly was suffering from Post Groom Furunculosis. "Post-grooming furunculosis is a deep bacterial folliculitis. Severe, painful inflammation is typically present around hair follicles. Pustules, bullae, and fistulous tracts, as well as hemorrhagic crusts, are seen. Patients typically present as febrile (with a temperature of at least 104°F), lethargic, and anorectic. Chronic lesions result in hyperpigmentation, lichenification, and scarring." The vet explained to us that this is caused after grooming when bacteria is introduced to the hair follicles most commonly from diluted shampoos that weren't changed daily or not properly sanitized daily. Maui has gone through 4 different appointments, 3 veterinarians (2 being specialists), 6 different medications and supplements, extreme pain and weight loss because of the pain, and not to mention hundreds of dollars. He may have permanent scarring because of this. It took a couple weeks to finally get a diagnosis and it has taken weeks to even begin to even see slight improvement. If Maui had never been to your salon that day, he never would've suffered like this. No dog should ever go through this kind of pain and anguish again and I hope that bringing awareness to this situation will help you take responsibility and understand the importance of sanitizing and cleaning your products and never letting diluted shampoo sit unused for more than a few hours." read more

I have been taking my Shih Tzu to Sissy's since he was a baby 3 years ago, they even gave him his very first grooming and until now I have been satisfied with them. I took my little dog to them one week ago for his most recent grooming, they usually have him 3 hours or less, after 4.5 hours had gone by and I had not heard from them I called to inquire and they told me that the owner had to "finish him up" and that he'd be ready in 25 minutes. I drove down to thier shop 25 minutes later, all total 5 hours he was there, and picked up my dog. I was feeling very unwell when I arrived to get him and I wasnt able to look him over carefully before leaving, I just grabbed him up and left in hurry. Once I got home and set him down I noticed he was trembling and cowaring on the floor, he refused to eat dinner and he refused to go outside to go potty, he was constantly jumping like something was biting him and them licking himself constantly. The same behavior continued for a couple days, I finally rolled him over to see what he was licking at so incessantly and discovered a quarter sized area of skin had been clipped clean off his stomach and had been bleeding and scabbing over the entire time! I CANNOT BELIEVE they didnt tell me they had injured my dog, didnt even attempt to make me aware that anything at all had happened to him! Had they told me about the wound I would of been tending to it immediately but 3 days later and it started to get red and irritated. this is just unprofessional and irresponsible. my poor dog! I will never return to sissy's for the very reason they chose to try and conceal the imjury they caused my dog. And its been a week now and he still isnt eating meals, just a nibble here and there and is still refusing to go potty until he's bursting. I wanted to like this groomer since it has a good website. But I was devastated when I went to pick up my boy Oscar, a beautiful Havanese. This breed wears a long beard which Oscar has been growing for 8 years. I told the goomers not to touch his beard. When Oscar was brought out to us at the end of the day we were stunned. All 7 inches of his lovely beard were cut off. Could have knocked me over with a feather. I'm honestly so sad and disappointed, and it's so ironic bc I was actually reading the reviews on here before this whole interaction and saying how much Ive had such good experiences. I've been taking my dog Lana here since we got her in 2016 (Reccomended by my mom who's been taking her dogs there since 2013). She's a shitzu-poo and gets matted often, bc we live on some acres and she loves running everywhere! We take her when her fur gets long, to get shaved pretty often, and I've always loved our experiences when calling to schedule and the whole actual appointment. This morning when I called to check my appt., (as I've been dealing with my sick babies since last week, and it slipped my mind) I talk to whoever it was working at 753am, and when I advise I have to cancel he states I "may have to pay a deposit next time when scheduling cause you missed last appt too". When I acknowledge the fact that I indeed did miss the appt, following up with "don't you guys give reminder calls/text/emails?" (As I would always get calls reminding me) He says, as if it's a foreign question, "oh DEFINITELY not because then we have people who want to cancel and reschedule...." Lmfaoooo dude WHAT?????? I don't ever remember the people working here being this...... ridiculous? Lol I'm putting that nicely. Anywhoooo.... You say that he wasn't moving much however you are failing to mention how happy Joplin was before being taken back. Joplin was very social and excited when here at the salon. However Joplin may be afraid of you since you are the one that partook in joplins neglect. You can't even tell Joplin is the same neglected dog that came in as shown in the photos. I don't know the exact number of years, but its I'm sure 6, 7 or possible 8 years I've been taking our Beagle to Sissy's. Bath, nail trim and anything Chris would recommend. Our baby is now 10 years old and with that he now endures minor ache and pains. We recently moved out away from Tucson but because of the familiar surroundings the Beagle has grown up with at their shop I called to make an appointment. Because of the move we hadn't been in in maybe 8 months. I was greeted with if your dog has any medical issues don't bring him here. When Chris was there, I always mention his normal aches and sore back. Not a problem. Chris always knew my tipping was more than generous and also was attentive to my pet's needs. NOT HERE, NO WAY. I got to ask myself, are they too careless to handle my pet? Think about it. read more

We dropped our dog off for a nail trim and a deshedding appointment. We were told it would take about an hour. Three hours later I still had not received a call and upon calling for an update we found that he had been ready to be picked up without notifying us. Upon picking him up, we found that his nails were untrimmed and was still covered in loose hair even after paying for a full treatment. When we called back to ask what had been done, we were told that we were charged 65 dollars for a package deal that included a deshedding, bath, and nail trim even though we did not receive two of these services. The staff did not attempt to resolve this issue and instead just told us they charge for the whole package even if the services could not be rendered. read more

Our dogs have been going to Sissy's for over 12 years and we have always loved them. Now even more. Our little girl Maltipoo was groomed by Erika in May and a few days later I noticed some nasty bruises on our dogs ear, shoulder and tummy. I called and both Erika and Jason said nothing out of the ordinary had happened during grooming. But Jason did tell me that some Maltipoos have a hereditary issue with their blood failing to clot. We had a vet appointment the next day so I asked about it and they did blood tests. Turned our our dog had a very low platelet count. We were told to keep her very quiet and watch for bleeding from her nose, mouth or ears and we started medication. She is doing so much better now. Decided to give them another try today. Total chaos in the shop, no one knew if they were coming or going. Staff could not locate my appointment, left my dog feeling uneasy so called Jason to express my concerns. 10 minutes after expressing my dissatisfaction I was called by Jason's wife and asked to come pick my dog up because she was not comfortable grooming my dog since I had complained about the chaos in the salon.
