Pooja is incredibly nice, easy going, multitalented, creative and down to earth person who is fun to talk to! She is one of the most empathetic persons I know. She has unique ability to listen 'fully' to all around her if that is a stranger or a friend. Over the course of eight weeks, Pooja led (facilitated) weekly circles that provided very sacred space where I can be fully and truly myself and express my feelings without any restraints or reservations. At the end of the circle, I felt my 'baggage' was all unpacked and reorganized and ready for a new start. To have such an experience in the evenings of 'the busiest days of the week' was beyond my imagination. Various prompts Pooja utilized were simple yet quite innovative and effective. The circle was extremely well organized and implemented. Most importantly, Pooja led (facilitated) the circle in very safe, gentle, loving and authentic manner. The circle provided us with a great opportunity to appreciate the beauty of life and people in midst of chaos of life. Circle helped me explore and trust myself at the deeper level. Circle supported my fears and anxiety and helped me to get to a much calmer and confident place in my healing journey. After the first session, I was eagerly waiting for next session and midway through our journey, I sensed 'togetherness' with the circle sisters throughout the week. Likewise, some of the simple techniques/rituals practiced during the circle came quite handy during the challenging moments of the week. Pooja is one of the most thoughtful people I've met in my life. Her own challenging life experiences in addition to her professional background have naturally led her to this point of spiritual life coaching. Not everyone can be a life coach. Not everyone can work with you to see if you can learn to be emotionally present with yourself and others around you. We all met online on Sundays through Zoom at 8:00 PM EST. There were eight participants and every week there was a theme of introspective questions that we would be asked to think about and share. Pooja brings their authentic self to every session which fosters an environment in which members of the circle feel empowered to do the same. I was initially afraid of the idea of a healing circle--afraid to show up, afraid to be vulnerable, afraid that I'm not enough, and worried about taking time away from work and relationships. However, the experience was humbling and powerful. As a member of the circle, I felt seen, appreciated, and validated in ways that I rarely do in groups of men and male-bodied people. Joining a healing circle for men was not something high on my things to-do list. Encouraged by the leader, Pooja Bakhai, I signed on and began an eight-week journey with five other men of color, all much younger than I, towards empathy, self-discovery, and communal love. Pooja's gentle invitations opened all of us to engage and reflect with one another and drew us near to a place of spiritual kindness. We flexed our emotional muscles during well-designed exercises intended to push us as far as we were willing to go and in so doing arrived in a gentle space with each other and with ourselves. To Pooja's credit, she assembled a diverse group of men who shared a desire to break free of the constraints of a masculinity defined by stoic acceptance of pain and the concomitant toxicity that accompanies repression. Digging even deeper, we discovered and unleashed our creative energies into the world. Working with Pooja helped me overcome imposter syndrome, claim my identity as a healer, and improve my relationship with substances. It also helped me be seen for who I really am, which allowed me to more freely express and own my unique gifts and ways of being. In 6 months, new levels of consciousness that were formerly hidden to me opened up. The intuitive work in particular was profound because it showed me who was there for me in my corner spiritually and how to reach out to them when I needed them. The biggest shift I experienced happened unexpectedly during one of our breakthrough sessions and it was so on point. Before working with Pooja I was struggling with my self esteem, socializing, ruminating on the past, depression, anxiety, finishing university, and comparing my current self with my past self. Over the course of the year I learned and solidified knowledge on a whole host of things - some include the importance of my core beliefs in shaping reality, techniques to build and sustain positive core beliefs, and the importance of not ignoring my emotions. Looking back now I can also see more clearly what I was struggling with, whereas when I met Pooja it was harder to understand and put into words. I was on the fence for several months about whether or not to try a life coaching session. I'm typically not one to freely share my vulnerabilities and wasn't sure if I'd feel comfortable being open.
