I hired Jeff to repair and resurface (with pebble) my pool back in 2018. For the repairs, there were two cracks on the wall about 4ft long and i told him to put in staples when he fixed the cracks. During that time he agreed and said there will be staples. Fast forward to 2022, the two 4 ft cracks that he repaired cracked again and now he cant be reached so i hired the another pool repair company to fix the cracks. When they took off the pebble surface to repair the cracks, there were no staples. They only used concrete to patch the cracks. Seriously.... ? I dont know if he communicated with his crew to install staples or they intentionally took a shortcut thinking that i will not find out? Or maybe his crew simply dont know how to properly repair cracks with over 30 years in the business. Now this repair cost me few thousand dollars because Jeff's crew didnt do the repairs correctly. This company is good for pool refurface projects but would not recommend them in repairing pool cracks. Get another company who knows how to fix pool cracks or someone who can be trusted that they will do what they say they will do. read more

I chose Jeff to remodel our pool after receiving many bids. We had a 40+ year old gunite pool and I wanted to upgrade to pebble sheen in a blue color. The results were spectacular and we are completely satisfied with the project. We also had him redo all of the plumbing and he recently installed a new filter for me too. I previously was only able to run my vacuum line through the skimmer so it was either skimmer or vacuum. Now I can do both as he added two new return lines and an extra intake inside the pool for the vacuum to be connected. We are so happy and super excited with the job. He is also excellent when it comes to customer service. As first time pool owners we had a lot of questions and now I am able to maintain it myself without the added expense of a pool guy and it will only take 15-20 minutes a week. My whole family cannot wait for summer to get here so we can jump in and enjoy our new pool. If you are looking for a job done right and for a reasonable price. Do not hesitate to call Jeff. I have been in home renovation hell for about 6 weeks (new flooring throughout the house, demo of pool, demo of deck and patio, demo of a wall, new drainage put in, new deck put in, new pool, new wall, plumbing, etc). The smoothest piece of all this work, easily, was having our pool replastered and retiled by Jeff at Pool Port. I am picky. Anyone who knows me or even reads a few reviews knows that I want what I want and am fine with paying for it, but it needs to be right. We elected to go with the pebble bottom pool. I thought the very popular midnight blue was too dark, but the next lightest color was too light. (total Golidlocks syndrome) I asked if we can do something in the middle, some sort of custom mix? Sure. I also wanted it to be a bit more blue toned, so can we have some of the blue glass added in? Sure. I wanted the shimmer too, so can we have some of the abalone shells added in? Sure. Our pool is beautiful!! Perfect color, tile is amazing, and the process was smooth, easy, and reasonably priced. As always, I hope to not have to call Jeff again. We needed to get more cracks fixed in our pool so we decided to go ahead and re-plaster the pool with new tile. There is only one man to call in my book...that's Jeff at Pool Port! Since we used Jeff in the past to repair cracks, we felt really comfortable and confident on this larger job. He was extremely fair, reliable, and just a great guy as usual. He recommended a pebble finish for the plaster and again he was right on. I don't know why anyone would go with plain plaster, this darker bottom look is amazing. The tile and pebble work was work was meticulously done by his crew. Even the removal of the old plaster was done as cleanly as possible. He was also fast and flexible with dates. From start to finish you are looking at 3 to 4 days if done consecutively. It really is a can't miss when partnering with Jeff. I am writing this late review a year after Jeff resurfaced the pool for my parents' house. I have been getting many complements about the pool and I never really thought too much as the nice words are from friends. Last week a gentleman who has been in the pool business for many years told us the pool was done very well, and of course I did not pay attention to that either. One never called back, and the other, who was very knowledgeable, but told us straight up that we couldn't afford him. He looked at Jeff's quote and said he was definitely the right guy. Jeff was very helpful and knowledgeable for the problem I was having with my Skimmer. After getting a quote from him, I was very happy to have him do the job even though it was just a few dollars more than the other bid I got. Boy was I happy I selected his company! Angel and his crew came within 2 days and knocked out the job in 48 hours. After cutting the concrete and Jack hammering it out, they installed the new skimmer unit and cemented it in. After finishing the surface of the concrete, I washed it the next day and it matched the original surface well. Jeff came over and told me about 5 super simple things I could do myself to test out the system and make some basic repairs. After reading the great reviews here on yelp, I contacted Jeff at Pool Port about re-plastering my 1960's era pool. He was great about calling back, his price was very competitive, the work done was excellent, and he gave me some very helpful hints about general pool upkeep. We decided on a pebble finish and Jeff actually took me to look at a couple of different colors to help me choose. Went with the Blue Granite and had blue glass, abalone, and sea shell added to the mix to brighten it up a bit. We are very happy with the results. A week after we filled it back up, Jeff called just to check on everything. He was such a pleasure to work with, I was kind of sorry to tell him everything was great. We ultimately had an issue at every stage of the job. We could't help but feel Jeff was overextended and that his communication was weak. To be short, we'll focus on two key issues that we had the biggest issues with. Coping - Jeff didn't order the stone (which was odd to us since his men were laying it down). He relied on us to do it. He overshot the estimate by a full ton and 1/2. He told us to get 3 tons of stone to be on the safe side. (Really, 3 tons to be on the safe side?) After checking out 3 different quarries we decided to go with California High Desert stone. The stone was unfortunately on back order for 2 months & therefore, we had to order from 2 different companies. A total hassle! The stone cost us $1900.00 and after the job was done we were left with a massive pile of stone that I still can't get rid of. (One cannot return stone once it is purchased) Jeff should've handled this and calculated correctly. When the crew completed the coping it truly looked great, however, the leftover stone was a total waste of money. Pebble Tech - We explained to Jeff on 4 different occasions that we wanted extra blue glass and extra sea shells mixed in with the Pebble Tech. He tried to convince us it was a bad idea but we insisted. We were totally prepared to spend more money. Basically, it's what we wanted as clients and it's what we expected to get. As they were laying the Pebble Tech my wife and I noticed that they weren't adding extra sea shells. They definitely added more blue glass (which came out awesome) but we were getting a little worried about the shells. We both mentioned something to the head of the crew but he just nodded his head and stated they were putting the shells in. The crew finished the job and started filling the pool with water. Later that evening we noticed that we were right. NO EXTRA SEA SHELLS. We were beyond upset! We called Jeff to ask him if we should stop filling the pool and he kept telling us to trust him, there were more than enough shells in the pool. The next day my wife and I saw a few shells but nothing like we wanted. We were later told by the head of the crew that Jeff told him to just put in the normal amount of sea shells they typically use. He ignored our request for extra because he didn't feel it would look as good and hence, this is what is normally done. We don't care what is normally done.. We wanted what WE wanted. That part of the pool is a disappointment because this can not be remedied without doing the pebble tech over. But here is the killer part of the story. When I stepped into the pool to take a closer look at the pool floor, I discovered that the steps going into the pool were too small. The steps were barely big enough to accommodate my foot and I'm a size 9! I cannot even explain how angry I was. I call Jeff in a fury that I haven't felt in years and he explains he will be by shortly. Ultimately, he tells us that it was OUR fault that we didn't tell him to make the steps bigger. Here's the thing, we didn't want the steps bigger, we wanted them the same as they originally were! The problem is that when the crew performed the demolition they took too much fiberglass off the original design. How were we supposed to know the steps would consequently come out smaller? I would've had no problem paying extra money to redesign the steps with more concrete. In conclusion, Jeff wouldn't do anything about the problem. He kept trying to pull the jedi mind trick on us in an attempt to make us feel happy about the final product. Needless to say it obviously didn't work. I own a business and would NEVER leave an unhappy customer standing in the cold. Its bad business and unethical. The least he could've done was deduct some money off the final balance but NO, he required full payment on the last day of construction and we paid him accordingly. We were utterly disgusted to do so but we didn't want to deal with him any longer. We just wanted the nightmare to end as soon as possible! This review is based on a leak detection. I typically refrain from writing poor reviews, however, I think this one is deserving. My pool/spa has an obvious leak in it. After reading good reviews on Jeff I gave him a call. He was nice on the phone. Jeff mentioned to me that he does not have the PROPER leak detection tools but can do the basic tests (dye test, ect). His angle was that I could save a lot of money having him come find the leak vs hiring a real leak detection company as my leak could be simple to find/fix. This strategy sounded decent so I went ahead and hired him to find the leak. He arrived on time and did a few very basic tests (my pool guy could've easily done). After doing his dye test in my spa he was confident that the leak was in my spa and that my pool was fine. Well.....thats basically it. He said the next step was to hire a leak detection company to find where the actual leak was in the pipes (as again he does not have the proper equipment). At this point I realized I completely wasted time and money with this company. Basically he confirmed that I had a leak but he can not truly find where the leak is and that I have to hire another company. What is the point of paying him??? I already knew I had a leak! Jeff did not return my call the following day when I left him a message to update him with another "test" we did (plugging all the jets in my hot tub). This method he stated would prove whether or not I truly have a leak in my pipes. I later find out how this is not true and it is basically a test to see if you have a crack in your spa/pool. The day after, I hired a REAL LEAK DETECTION COMPANY. They had all the proper equipment, was extremely knowledgeable and did a full test. It turns out I had two leaks which were NOT EVEN CLOSE to the spa. The spa is 100% fine! With any pool leaks there can be multiple leaks and many variables. A full test needs to be done....Jeff simply gets his foot in the door and "refers" you to a real leak detection company. Completely pointless to hire him for a leak detection. It is impossible to know if your leak is as simple as a light fixture or in your pipes as well. Get a real test done the first time and don't waste money hiring him. Had a problem with the lights to pool, for twenty years, as time goes by I ve had various estimates from pool co.s I was told we have to dig up the wire all around the pool, to you have to replace the fixture, to both lights are out its $280, each to fix (the one in spa and the pool) So, I just put it off. Too expensive ! Until Jeff k. walks in, checks wiring, tells me it was wired wrong, fixes it had a service fee and driving time.?Now I have them both working fine! He recommended I find an independent leak detector to test and pinpoint all the leaks before they would begin work to insure that all details were covered. If you need your pool repaired, HIRE THIS MAN. He is the consummate professional, knowledgeable and honest. After reading all the reviews, I knew that Jeff was the kind of person that we would want to work with. I told him that this pool was for a rental property, so we didn't want to do anything fancy. His bid was EXTREMELY reasonable. He also explained that he would not know how bad the cracks in the pool were until it was completely stripped, and explained that those repairs would require staples that cost $80 each. He gave me a rough estimate of approximately 20 staples, but when the pool was stripped it ended up being 40. Even with that increase, the price of the pool repair was still so reasonable I did not even hesitate. He had the pool stripped, repaired, replastered and replaced the pool light, and saved us money by salvaging the existing tile. We discussed installing an auto-fill (because it is a rental and we thought it would be helpful not to rely on tenants to fill the pool). Jeff explained that in his experience the auto-fill component was a lot more trouble than it was worth, and we trusted his judgment.
