What a gem of a workman. My Hayward pool vac was not working properly - vac hose getting twisted, not having the ability to move about the pool. My pool service man wanted to take the unit and "fool with it". I thought no, let me find someone who really knows this business of how these units work. Boy did I feel fortunate to discover Woody. With ease and knowledge he took apart the vac, replaced needed parts with new. We took the unit out to his pool, tested the unit, and confirmed the unit worked as designed. My pool pump quit working yesterday and I was lucky enough to find Woody from Pool Vac Repair. I talked to him at 8AM and he was at my house at 1PM. He methodically diagnosed the problem and gave me 3 options. I decided on an option and he removed the pump and motor and took it with him. He texted me this morning to let me know he would be at my home today at 10AM to reinstall the pump/motor. He was right on time, did a great job, and charged a very fair price. Had an issue with my pool Vac (navigator xl) so I looked on Yelp and found Woody. We met at his shop and had some good conversation and repaired my pool Vac. I just needed a few parts and that was it. He could have fed me a line or two about needing a rebuilt one but he didn't. I took my Hayward Navigator to my local pool store because it had stopped turning. After three trips to the store and spending $125.00 it was still not working. Took it to Woody, and in 15-20 minutes he identified the problem and fixed it. Charged a ridiculously low fee. so paid him more. He's now my pool guy for all repairs, including pump rebuilds, replacing grids in DE filters, etc. I use him because he knows what he's doing. Do not go to a pool store and pay over $400 for a new Hayward Pool Vac. Beat the system by buying a nice, rebuilt Hayward from Woody. I have tried to find others on Craigs List but Woody is reliable, honest and just a nice guy. He prices his units based on the amount of new parts he replaces and they range from $125 to $200. I picked mine up for $150 and it works awesome! Even the new units need maintenance. When this one starts to get worn, I am taking it back to Woody where he said he will rebuild while I wait. The big pool companies always try and charge you $270 and then they recommend just buying a new unit. I hate that. Beat the system....go with a local pro....Woody is right choice! read more
