I contacted Rip Curl Pool to provide a quote for new tile and PeppleTec so I could budget for the future. Ty and Matt both arrived on a Saturday morning since my weeknights were busy and late. They quoted me much less than I was expecting so it didn't take much to convince me to proceed. They were prepared with many color samples. They completed the project in only a couple weeks with outstanding results. The crew was just as professional as the management. My son hired California Pools almost two years ago and they mostly stopped work after a year and the project left incomplete with most of the funds already paid. The work completed is less than acceptable with three color grouts and they wont return to finish or return calls to schedule. Unlike RIP Curl Pool Repair who is always available and provides a professional product in the end to show off to your friends. Don't waste your time with the company like California Pools, who wastes your time and money. If you want a project done to meet your budget and get it done professionally in a more than reasonable timeline I highly recommend using Rip Curl. We posted on Nextdoor that we needed help getting the computer on the pool motor going because my husband had been hospitalized for 2 1/2 months and it wasn't working. They came out within the hour and said it's set up and the cleaning would happen between 9pm and 4am. My husband didn't realize it wasn't working for several days and we contacted them by phone and 3 emails before he finally texted back, send picture of motor. He told us it had been shut off and we just needed to push start. We thanked him and he didn't respond back. In the spring when anything and everything falls in your pool, my pool pump went out on a Saturday. I had a pool/birthday party scheduled for Sunday. Ty came out within hours of being called. After his assessment he made a call to order the part. Within a few hours of that, it was being installed. I was so impressed! It was abundantly clear these guys knew what they were doing. Like almost all other reviews, my experience with Ty and Rip Curl was not good and I would not recommend. I hired them to diagnose/repair a pool pump and they utterly failed. They then refused to come back out without charging me again, even though they misdiagnosed the problem and did not fix it the first time around. As with others who have left reviews, Ty got defensive and insisted that he fixed the problem when he didn't. I therefore hired a different company that was more professional and actually knew what they were doing. They actually diagnosed and fixed the pump. Don't waste your money on this guy. read more

I have never had such unprofessional service, not only on the phone but through email and text. Don't expect them to stand by their work. Took them WEEKS, numerous excuses, and completely rude responses to even address a mistake THEY made. Never an apology or acknowledgement that they didn't do the work right in the first place. I'm a first time pool owner. This company came as a recommendation which I thought would be reputable. Although he is a business owner, I believe he need to take a course on customer service and how to speak to HIS customers. He is very unprofessional, quite rude, combative and very arrogant on his responses. He doesn't like to be asked questions and certainly does not like to be accountable for any actions. He came out it resurfaced the pool and though there were details that were not discussed nor disclosed , I take full responsibility for that, he basically just wanted his money and then move on. We couldn't ask any questions without him becoming immediately defensive or passing blame to anyone but himself. Not professional in any way shape or form. BEWARE!!! Worst business owner! Owner Ty is a mean, combative, abusive man. We hired him to redo our pool and kool deck. First problem was the plumbing. They added an additional line to separate the vacuum from the skimmer. See photo of the first attempt. When I contacted Ty he admitted it wasn't pretty, but that it was going to cost more because of the concrete demo. They had demo in our agreement, they just didn't do enough. Luckily for us, the plumber he uses was out of town so he had sent another plumber that he thought knew what he was doing. When he saw the photos, he said he would never leave it like that and came the following week to correct it. Had he balked, Ty would have tried leaving us that garbage. Do not plan on asking any questions! Ty doesnt like homeowners to ask about procedure or next steps. He turns it into a nasty, abusive rant. When we were ordering tile, I asked how much square footage. He told me 110. When his guy dropped on 45 sq ft, I text him that it seems short. He was mad at me questioning him. I reminded him that he told me 110. He then said that it should be 60 sq ft. So when I reiterated that there is only 45 sq ft here, he got even madder and told me to let them do their job. Also, they removed step tiles from our pool but weren't planning on replacing them. When I questioned him, he said he'd put step tiles and sent me a photo of the only tiles they use for that. They didn't match our other tile They were ugly cheap tile. I ordered decorative tile through him. He brought two fish that were supposed to go together. Not only did they not match, they were completely different. One was a printed type tile and the other a mosaic. He truly didn't care. Who knows what my pool would have ended up looking like if I left it to him. He made us pay extra to use left over water edge tile on the steps. Then when I wanted to pay upon completion and satisfaction he told me he knows my type and that I'm trying to stuff him. He said he'd put a lien on my house that day! He really is nuts. If you use him, expect no communication. Don't ask questions. And pay up prior to the job being completed. read more

Hired them to do a pool inspection and was very clear I needed a report on a new pool I was having issues with. He said it would be $120 for the report. Super nice guys, seemed to know what they were doing and we paid them for the report which he said he would send over. Many text messages later he informed me that he wouldn't write a report that I paid for as it was a conflict of interest. I explained I didn't want him to do anything other then write a report of the issues with the pool. He said he could do this when I called, said he would send me the report and took the money for it but wouldn't complete what we paid him to do. read more

I hired ty to help me with my pool it was turning green. Ty suggest that I drain the pool and pressure wash it and purchase a new motor. So I did thinking that this will help. I then schedule to use TY pool service once a week but with in two weeks my pool was green again. When I contacted TY he had every excuse in the book to what I need to do and that there was more work to be done. Absolute trash company from the top down, I used the for about 1 1/2 months before they jumped the price up for more than we agree on. Our pool was never cleaned well, all the filters we clogged until I cleaned them myself. When I called to cancel they told me it to late and the next payment will come out. We had a month to month agreement so I cancel the payment when I let them know the insults started flying. He said I was cheap, dumb and broke this was very unprofessional. Oh man where do I begin?! This company was recommended through some people so my husband and I thought why not. We just moved in and needed a good deep clean on the pool. The first week he came.. my husband noticed it wasn't skimmed or anything so he texted Ty. Ty replies that the guy did skim and do everything but we needed a new system and vacuum and all this jazz. (He was rude in texts). The next week after they clean, the pool got super cloudy so we texted asking why.. he was soo defensive! Saying it was our vacuum and system and all of that again. The third week of service we ended up putting in a new system we bought and had them install it. We told him we were leaving town to pick it up. He was again rude and pushy asking for all sorts of photos and stuff. We get the system in and then we get told service will be on Friday's. I said okay great when so we can let the dogs in. Friday comes and we were home and no one rang the door or anything. We text Ty and asked if someone came (we were confused because 1. The vacuum (which actually ended up working and Ty tried to get us to pay 500! For a new one) was not moved and 2. The gates had locks on them.) Ty responds that the guy came. My husband said okay making sure because the gates locked, got no response. Come the next week I had to cancel because I was called into work and asked if we can have service back on Monday's it's too hard with our work schedules and dogs. At this point we had just gotten our new invoice. I didn't get a solid response about Monday services so I didn't pay. Today the guy came and rang the doorbell and left. We weren't sure if it was still Friday or Monday service. My husband texted Ty asking about modifying the Invoice because we didn't receive services. The whole time Ty was just again super rude and argumentative. Long story short he started sending us not professional texts including that we were sad and ridiculous and I quote "You seem like you need the money please lose my number best of luck don't worry about paying us good bye." Completely uncalled for. We were not not paying because we needed money. We didn't get services and we're trying to work it out. I DO NOT AND WILL NOT recommend this service to anyone! And after seeing him threatening others and throwing lawsuit threats around I am so glad we aren't allowing him to our home any longer!! Awful awful awful service for a business!! I really did want to like this company after the couple of recommendations we got but sadly it didn't work out and the companies true colors sure did come out. They left a huge mess in the yard and blamed me for it, said my groomed pebble driveway was "just dirt" and said I was overreacting, just poor quality work with cheap products.
