I called Total Spa after i had another spa repair come…read moreout to take a look at my spa - the reason for the call was that the black hot wire kept tripping the breaker when connected- the "other" company came out right away and after about 10 minutes said to me- Ma'am im really sorry to tell you this but you have a bad circuit board" said i would need to order the part myself due to they not being a master spa dealer- I said ok- immediately ordered the circuit board (670$) and i called the "other" company and told them i ordered the circuit board and that it was expected in 2 days. They then told me i needed to drain all the water out in case we get another cold snap and that they really couldn't tell me when they could come out to install due them being very busy. Told me to drain the water and use a wet vac to get as much water out of the tub as i can- so i proceeded to do as directed, that night i got to thinking about it and just had a bad feeling, so in the am i immediately started looking for a 2nd opinion. That is when i found my life saver Tim- called him- he called me back the next day (friday) and i told him what had been told to me- he said that doesn't sound like a bad circuit board and said he could be out that following Monday- Tim came Monday and within 10 minutes found the problem- just sound bad wiring from the electrician, he fixed it! Because the work by our local pool company was done in two stages because winter had set in, the finishes did not match and there were some water infiltration problems that caused some discoloration. Federal Stone was extremely helpful in getting this corrected and their Owner and his wife traveled to Connecticut from their plant in Maryland to inspect and refinish the coping themselves! We asked for detail on the costs for the items in the proposal and were told no, they don't provide that. Renken was the second of three firms we met with. Firm #1 provided a breakdown and Firm #3 who we met with today, said they would do so. Also, their payment structure gives them 2/3 of the total fee by the time they do measurements? Good grief. Choose another firm! ***UPDATE*** Imagine my surprise when I got a call today (June 19) from Brent Renkin who called to literally berate me for using this platform to give a one-star review. He told me one-star reviews hurt businesses. He questioned how I could give such a review. The only point of clarification that he offered was that their pre-discounted rate is good for a year, but the discounts are only in place for five days "because of fluctuations in costs." He did confirm they don't break down their pricing in any way, including labor versus materials; said that's their process. As he continued pressing me about my review, also suggesting maybe I didn't understand everything? Toward the end of the call, he talked over me so much that I ended the call to stop the tirade I was being subject to. Seriously, who wants to work with a firm like this?

The reviews don't lie, if you're in need of any kind of water restoration this is your guy. Mike and came out a few hours after I called them, my wife and I had got to our cabin after a week long of freezing temps to find our toilet had cracked an the water had been running for a day, we had about an inch of water in the bathroom, and both bedrooms were soping wet. Mike and reassured us that they would take care of everything. Gave us an instant quote over the phone and were honest and upfront about everything. Mike is not out to get you, he is a very honorable guy who's making a living helping people. He has no interest in overcharging you. Mike and his partner Eric got started right away, pulling up the carpet, removing the vinyl bathroom floor, and testing the moisture levels in the walls. Within a short amount of time they had fans under everything and large dehumidifier set up. They assured us they would save everything they could and that it wasn't as bad as we originally thought. Mike returned the next day and checked to make sure everything was working properly, tested the moisture levels, and adjusted some of the fans. Mike and Eric were thorough and professional throughout the entire experience. They saved my cabin, saved the floors, and even saved the carpet. I can't talk enough about the work Mike and Eric did and how hard they worked to get it done. In the end, I was very happy I called Mike, overall it was around $1,000 and was within dollars of his phone estimate. For the amount of work done, the hours spent, equipment used, and how little damage was actullay done after Mike got to work, it was money very well spent and don't usually say this but was happy to write that check. I literally couldn't give a higher recommendation. Mike also runs his own contracting company, which he does great work, I'll be writing separate review there for some work I had done after this incident.
