Kevin runs a great pool servicing company, and his crew does a great job maintaining my pool. I'm very happy with the weekly service and my pool looks great all year. More importantly, Kevin is an honest businessman and will work to resolve issues as they arise. Case in point, we had a minor misunderstanding over a billing issue. Once I explained the issue, whereby I believed I was a "double billed" for a particular service, Kevin realized the problem and understood my position. He promptly offered a credit on my monthly statement. Issue resolved-no fuss. That type of resolution ensures a business will retain a customer as opposed to losing one. Now.....regarding their pool service.....GREAT JOB! A bit over priced at $85 to simply spray out a filter, but whatever...still hands down...awesome service. Now the reason for 3 stars........you would assume your personal communication is kept private.........BEWARE!!!!!! I've been with them since June 2014 and just canceled shy 1 month of 2 years of service and I would say after a year in I noticed that my service started going downhill but I was too busy to worry too much about the headache of changing companies. Since I work from home I started noticing that some weeks my service would be 20 minutes of thorough awesome cleaning and it would be followed by weeks of literally 7-10 min in and out with a quick swipe of the pool net and they're gone leaving me to go outside and clean the dirt and leaves still on the sides of the pool and in the hot tub that they left. I've had yellow algae (now I know what it is) growing in the corners of the seating portion of my hot tub for at least a month now (I scrub it myself and it comes back) and not one of his employees ever mentioned anything to me about options for getting rid of it or attempted to clean it yet that was the first thing the replacement pool company noticed within the first 5 minutes of looking at my pool. If they were consistent I wouldn't have had an issue but they weren't and after almost 2 years I was done. Very telling sign when the owner doesn't even bother asking a long term customer why they left and it's because he really could care less. Maybe new customers get treated better. read more

My prior pool company would spend 5-6 minutes cleaning the pool with a net and then add chlorine to the dispenser before leaving. They also did not answer the phone when I called and would call back whenever they felt like it. I fired them in July and started with Pool Star on August 1, 2019 after reading many positive reviews. Pool Star spends 25-30 minutes each week using a vacuum and net and does an excellent job. They also answer the phone when I call and it is a pleasure to deal with Cody and Kevin. Excellent Service. We have used Kevin and his associates for almost a year now, with no complaints. Our pool is always sparkling and clean, and his staff is incredibly professional and knowledgeable. They did this because we are located outside of that original company's service area and they said Poolstar was the best option for us. I really should send that original company a thank you card, as we have been impressed with Poolstar every step of the way. If you have a Salt Pool stop now! Find another Service! PoolStar openly admits they greatly dislike servicing pools with Salt Chlorinators. We & our Tenant went through hell and back with Kevin. He had every excuse in the book for all his missteps (it was never his fault...) even though he made countless errors in servicing our properties. When I say he dislike Salt Pools I am putting this mildly. He will do anything to get you to stop using your Salt and convert to chlorine because its much easier for them to throw tablets into your pool than servicing your Salt Cell. Bottom line they don't understand Salt Pools. We had a no-flow error (flow sensor was gone) on our system which turns out, totally disables the Salt readings. He barely made mention of this fact (1 time buried in an email while we were out of the country for 3 weeks in April (We started with them in Feb), never to mention this again, yet it was impossible to service our pool correctly without this $35 part replaced, we are talking 5 months of service where this was a serious problem. He should of been all over this but barely brought this to our attention 3+ months into service. Yes he very confidently told us our Salt Cell was DOA but he couldn't possibly know without the flow sensor being replaced or having it tested. Cost me $430 for a new one I purchased via Amazon but didn't need (he quoted us $800 for it). I went out and bought the new flow sensor and the system came right back up. Turned out the Salt Cell I had prior to the new one was perfectly fine. PoolStar missed a week at one of our pools, the skimmer got clogged up and choked our brand new $1400 new pump. Yet rather than just taking the responsibility for that he blamed it on an O Ring which they had my tenant go out and purchase (wasn't needed and should of been covered by the Pump Installation Company if it was needed). Tenant was furious with Kevin and PoolStar's Service. We had a new pool installed at our new property. They didn't start service there until 5/15th yet we received a bill prorated for 3 weeks of that 4 week month. He charged us in May for the RX but never provided it. Needless to say after giving these guys 5 months to get to a professional level of service they failed miserably. Seriously stay away from this service, especially if you have a Salt pool, unless you enjoy being taken advantage of and handed a ton is excuses. Bad news! read more

After doing an online search, I settled on Poolstar based on good customer word of mouth. Service was prompt and efficient and they never tried to upsell me on anything. Very professional. It says something about the company when the owner himself (Kevin) shows up to work on the job. Timeframe was exactly as promised. I had a green pool that I had neglected and was full of algie and dirt. Poolstar drained it, cleaned it and prepped it for use. Price was fair. PoolStar has serviced our pool since it was built Aug 2016 and it looks beautiful. My only concern with pool has been the mineral build-up on the tile at the waterline, but this is not PoolStar's fault. The only solution for this has been pumice stone and elbow grease.
