As a fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles, Poor Bous Sports is a one stop shop for all your gear for either team! Depending on what time of the year you go, the store will have more O's gear (Spring and Summer) or Ravens gear (Fall and Winter) but both teams always have some gear all year round. The shop does a great job stocking new t-shirts and gear whether it was the new City Connect collection debuted by the O's this season or the annual Ravens salute to service collection. There's an online store too so you can ship gear if you can't trot to Dundalk but I recommend if you're a fan of either shop to make your way to the store at least once in to your life time! read more

This is a good local spot for some sports items and gardening odds and ends. To be 100% honest, I only go for gardening items and have never really browsed the indoor section of the store. However, from what I could see when I am checking out they do have a fair selection of both Ravens and Orioles items ranging from socks to jerseys! In regards to the gardening items, for not being a specialty store, they do offer a great selection of soil, pots, and in the spring/summer time vegetables and other outdoor flowers. They do also sell some indoor plants but the selection is very slim compared to the rest. With that the prices on some items can be higher than expected but again, it is a local store so I almost expect it for them to be able to maintain buying them in smaller quantities. This place is heaven on earth for Ravens fans! I don't live in the Baltimore area, but I make a point of visiting this place at least once a year to stock up on my Ravens merch. It is hands down The best place to get anything Ravens, even things that you never even thought they would make. I'm not much of an Orioles fan, but I'm pretty sure that it switches over to mostly Orioles stuff during baseball season. However, there's always a mix of ravens and Orioles gear. read more

This was my first time at Poor Boys, I stopped by to get some new gear for the Ravens season coming up. The shop was loaded with ravens and orioles gear, I recommend it to any Baltimore sports fan. I was hoping to get some newer ravens players gear but they only had older players jerseys. That's just the way it goes when you're shopping at a smaller local store than at a big chain store that has cash flowing in. Yes, they are open. We went to get some sports memorabilia and check out their large selection of masks. Everything was well stocked. COVID precautions observed but so few shoppers were there during off hours, it's hard to say if customers are complying. Clerk was very helpful and pointed us to specific items we were seeking. Always fun to wander through this excellent sports emporium! We have yet to explore the outdoor nursery/garden stock. read more

We were so happy to hear that this place had wood pellets when everywhere else (Lowe's, Home Depot) was sold out during the cold snap. We got 10 bags of pellets at 6.99 each. The staff helped load them into our car and it seems like a really nice family run business. It's not in our neck of the woods but I would gladly patronize them next winter over the mainstream carriers. read more

I love this place! They have such a varied selection of items from sports stuff, pellets, unique plants and pond supplies. He even has flagstone...try to find THAT somewhere at a reasonable price, I dare you. The owner Mike is a fantastic guy, knowledgeable and friendly and the staff is extremely nice and very helpful. I always patronize the local businesses over the huge conglomerates and Poor Boys makes it easy and a pleasure to do so! My son Charles gave me a VERY NICE Ravens sideline dry weave polo.... Yes he dropped $70 of his own money on his old man. When I opened it I was surprised and he was proud. When I told him he shouldn't have he replied stating that I had taken him to all of his Ravens games over the years with great tailgates so I deserved it. A great father son moment. Unfortunately, the story has a bit of a blemish. When Charles purchased the shirt from Poor Boys Sports (Abingdon location) they only had mediums however they told him that they were getting a shipment in the week after X-mas and that he would be able to exchange the shirt for the correct size then. He was fine with that. So being the kid he is he went back the week after x-mas where he was told the shipment had not arrived yet and that it would be in the following week. Instead of getting his money back and thinking no problem he agreed to take an exchange in the form of a gift card since he figured it would be easier to pick up the shirt the following week and he would not need to carry the cash around at work. (He works at a sports training complex) So the next week Charles goes back to Poor Boy's thinking he is going to get the item he paid for and is not only told that the shipment did not come in, but is told that there would be no more shirts until next season. Thinking he could not do anything then he departed and then thought maybe other stores may have the shirt which he did find. The problem is that Poor Boy's still had his money. It was then I was told what had happened over the past couple of weeks on a Friday Evening. At that juncture I told him since he had his original receipt etc that he should certainly be deserving of a refund. So on Saturday afternoon we head out as a family to take care of some errands. My son really wanted me to have what he gave me especially since he did this on his own. We take him by Poor Boys, he goes in and comes out relatively quickly. He gets in the van and as I am driving off I ask him if he had everything. In a bewildered manner he said 'no' and that they would not issue him a refund. I spoke with him a bit and for the first time looked at his receipt which all was in order. Basically, all I could get out of him was that he was given couple lame excuses....from there was no manager to that they did not know how to conduct the transaction. Thinking in my mind that this was one of those 'male teenager communication things' I figured I would accompany him into the store to find out what was up. Well BIG MISTAKE! I will concede that Poor Boy's has probably one of the best selections of Ravens and Orioles gear .... HOWEVER their understanding of customer service is pathetic. Essentially, to keep it short the young man at the register was pretty decent and he really could not answer me as to why given we had an original receipt that Charles could not get his money back since the product he wanted was not coming in. Then all of a sudden this lady appears essentially stating that she was not issuing a refund. I first asked if we could speak to the manager which I was told (like Charles) there wasn't one. Then I asked if there were anymore polos in any of their other stores. Her answer to me in a very irritated manner was "I don't know". Ok so I tried to re-explain the premise of expecting an exchange, they did not receive a shipment, therefore, it is reasonable to expect a refund. When I addressed this with the young man he sort of acknowledged such until this lady tells me "there is no need for you to address 'my' employee". So given this statement it is now apparent that she is a manager. Of course I try to verify she is a manager to which she responds by telling Charles and I to leave to which I respond that we are not going anywhere until we do something to resolve the situation....other than them keeping my son's money. She then tells me again she is not issuing a refund and threatens to call the police. At this point I am like fine I'll wait...and sure enough she dials 911. UNBELIEVABLE! So the police arrive (two State Trooper cars...while my wife and daughter are sitting in the van). Of course I am NOT in any trouble (I am not that stupid)...though I was close to exhausting every bit of diplomacy I had at that point. Charles (for the most part) and I explained the situation to the officers while of course the lady in the store had to justify why she called 911...a total over reaction on her part. She actually wanted me arrested...seriously! Of course again Charles nor I had done nothing to warrant such. Even the police officer took Charles' documentation and tried to negotiate a resolution with the lady explaining as Charles did that he does not come upon $70 too easily, but he did not get much further than us. He too seemed bewildered essentially stating that the situation was now a civil issue. I have attemped of several occasions to contact the owner Michael Tyson to which no one has answered. read more
