Oh my goodness, what a gem! I had the opportunity to check out Pop Candy as a vendor at Uncorked Festival. I sampled several of their signature flavors including rosewater cardamom, rosemary, rum n vanilla, and maple bacon. The maple bacon flavor is one that exceeds expectations. Oddly, the sweet butteriness of maple syrup match perfectly with the savory goodness of bacon. I loved speaking with Bill and Rachel, Rachel even mentioned they hand make and hand pack each bag. For the maple bacon, they add a special sea salt on top too. For those who love a sweet or savory toffee treat, this place is it! I might just be a customer for life. read more

O M G!! Found these at a Southern California farmers market recently where I sampled a bit of the butter crunch candy and instantly fell in love. I love both the almond and pistachio varieties. They also have other nut varieties. The candies are made from butter, sugar and organic brown rice syrup. That's all! The friendly lady suggested I consume these within two weeks, but the little bags didn't last two hours! Now I've been having one of my girlfriends buying them for me and shipping them up to me until I can visit L.A. again. Best darn toffee I've eaten in a long time. I came across Pop candy at the Renegade Crafts Fair in San Francisco this weekend. They had the first booth inside the door. Great placement! With samples available, I asked the female owner if there was a certain order to taste the toffee so I could appreciate the nuances. It's just like wine tasting! And, in fact, there was a particular order to optimize the experience. I had to taste the simpler flavors (classics like no nuts, almond, pistaschio, 4 nut mix, etc.), then the exotic flavors (curry, berry with rosemary, etc.) and then the spicy varieties (fire house pistachio, chili something, etc.). You get my drift, right? Anyway, I ended up L-O-V-I-N-G the curry flavored toffee. It was so subtle the curry and incredibly flavorful. I also bought the pistachio toffee because I adore pistachios. Both these toffees I had packaged in a special gift tin. It keeps the candy fresher longer! Fantastic find. I am a big fan now. read more

The flavor I've had the pleasure to entertain my sweet tooth with is the rosemary almond. Crunchy almond slivers, buttery crunchy toffee / brittle, not too sweet and just the right amount if you eat one "slice." Sadly, I was dissappointed with the bacon date one. Major double sad face...complete with feet stomping and crocodile tears. It is good but unless I got a fluke batch, the dates ended up making my toffee / brittle a weird consistency. It became non-crunchy! Definitely will continue to buy their product, but I'll stick to the ones with just nuts and dried herbs. ~Side note: the chai granola is to die for. ~ Second side note: The owners are so sweet and you can tell they love what they do. I'm not a huge "candy" person, per se. I prefer those calories to go towards delicious baked goods and ice cream. But my boyfriend brought me home two bags of p.o.p. from a food festival of sorts, and I wasn't about to give him the ol' "You KNOOOOW I don't like candy!" routine when he was just being nice. So I ate it. And I ate it. And then it was done and I wanted more. Immediately. This stuff is delicious. They're reinventing candy here, I really believe it. I never realized how necessary it was to have butter crunch with thyme, walnuts, and cherries in my life!!! These guys really make an effort to do candy right. The butter crunch is made in small batches, no high fructose corn syrup, and they try to be as local and organic as possible. Really, what more could you ask for from a piece of candy? Perhaps dancing on command would be nice, or cleaning my bathroom, but I'm just throwing out suggestions...no pressure. The negative is they're not easily available. This is in part my fault for being lazy and not heading out to farmer's markets on a regular basis, but it would be so lovely if they had a storefront. read more

While browsing around at the Torrance Farmer's Market, I walked right by this booth because of the crowd around it. After my once around, I had to head back to where all the commotion was. Thank goodness the crowd had died down so I could try some brittle! My boyfriend loved the chai tea granola pecan bar while my mouth was watering over the Rosemary Almond. My second fave is their nut mix of cashews, almonds, pistachios and pecans. I'm not really a connoisseur of brittle... but the fresh, non-traditional ingredients had me buying a bag of each. Delicious! So hard to keep my hands out of those bags from eating it all... Since all the brittle is gone, I really need to head back to the Farmer's Market and pick some more up! read more

I've met them a couple of times at different food events like Unique LA. It helps knowing that a lot of love is put into these yummy (but gluten-free) treats. The thyme and walnut is my all time favorite! I also got the variety pack which contains 3 other diff flavors. I wish they could include thyme & walnut as part of a variety pack though. POP candy is amazing and magical. I buy that little bag (trying to display some self-control), open it - then puff - it disappears. Where does it go??? That stuff is so good, I have a hard time NOT eating it. It is crunchy but not too hard. It's sweet but not that overly sweetness from HFCS. It has wonderful flavor mixes. I have tried many of their favors including: The newest, no-nut flavor made with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, has fennel and orange peel. Yum! Rosemary Almond - the flavor varies based on the time of year. The rosemary favor can be overwhelming. The package I purchased this past Saturday was perfect. Fire pistachio had a red pepper finish. But not too hot. My favorite is the Thyme, walnuts and cherries. Savory, sweet, chewy and nutty. Wonderful It's available at the Torrance Farmer's Market on Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm. I ordered p.o.p. candy online after seeing a short video about their little company and line of nut brittle candies. Now, I'm a huge fan of pecans, walnuts, almonds, you name it, so I tried their classic trio, which came with pecan, almond, and a nut blend. Let me just say this stuff blew my mind. This is not your Great Aunt Doris' peanut brittle (you know, the kind that everyone makes around the holidays and you fake a smile when they give it to you as a gift because you know the stuff is just going to get stuck in your teeth for hours). This stuff is life-changing. It may be the brown rice syrup, which I've never had before, and the way they cook it that makes it thicker and yet it doesn't stick to your teeth. Out of the three varieties, the blend was my favorite. It had a hint of sweetness and was jam-packed almonds, pecans, and pistachios-- YUM. My least favorite, and by least favorite I mean 8.5/10 stars, was the pecan, mostly because I found it to not be sweet enough for my liking. However, they did a great job at preserving the natural, slightly-savory and buttery quality of the pecan. The only downside is that the price of shipping + handling through the pop candy website is a bit pricey (1lb ships for $13.25), so I have been making my purchases through a third party website. I hate doing this as I know they probably get a cut of their profit, but shipping is free :( Overall, I'm already in love with this little company and their products. I've ordered more and am giving their rosemary almond a shot. I will say that when holidays roll around, this will be a go-to product to send to loved ones across the country! read more

Their candy is delicious, fresh & crunchy in just the most perfectly combined way. So much so that the first sampling I bought was inhaled by everyone who came to my house that day. I'm really serious about my label reading, preferring to eat things with "real" ingredients and without certain not-so-good ingredients, so their ingredient list really makes me happy. There are so many interesting flavors of POP Candy and as an added bonus to be able to share them with our celiac/gluten free friends, kids and other product aware people is pretty great. These are my absolute favorite brittle-ever! I first tried POP Candy at Patchwork craft Fair in Long Beach. There are samples to try, so you can decide which one appeals to you. My favorite is the Pistachio Fire. I love all things spicy. This has a buttery flavor, but there's is a nice spice to each and every bite. Curry Coconut- Was different, but in a good way. I think this is one of those flavors that you're either going to like it or hate it. Pistachio Butter- I grabbed this flavor my mistake instead of the fire. Thank goodness I love pistachios. I ordered POP Candy after seeing them at an art/craft fair and grabbing a pack of Butter Crunch, which lasted all of four seconds in my house before being consumed by my permanent roommate! I just got married and one of my requirements was to have some of their best flavors at the dessert table, so I ordered a pound of each of my favorites (the thyme, walnut & cherry has AMAZING flavors for a candy!!) and hoped my guests would at least try it! IT WAS A HIT! I had guests coming up to me raving about the toffee and asking where it's from because they wanted to get some for themselves!! Even the location manager came up to me while I took a break from the wedding festivities to ask about the toffee, with a piece in hand and in her mouth!! She told me the caterers were also snatching pieces before placing them on the dessert table (Probably explains why the Pecan Butter Crunch was put into a smaller jar and still looked lower!)!
