But considering how hard it must be to transport and keep six different flavors of gelato cold for a big event. Well, I think they did a super job. Pop up supplied an assortment of six gelatos: S'mores, cookies and cream, mango, mixed berries, tiramisu and pistachio. Pop up allows two flavors per cup. The hubby and I tried them all. The pistachio and mango were by far the creamiest and most delicious of the bunch. I would recommend those. The cookies and cream didn't have much flavor and wasn't as sweet as it should be. From a random appearance on the Facebook newsfeed to one of the most raved caterers in our wedding reception. Having gelato as a wedding dessert stand is definitely something different from the usual desserts. But what sets them apart from others is they are not locked in to the flavors that are shown on their website. They are always experimenting and trying out new flavors. In fact, 3 out of the 6 flavors we ended up serving were not on their menu! We had avocado, Vietnamese coffee, and manila mango! If I were to be so bold, they even offered durian! These worked well with our mostly Asian guests' palettes. We love their passion for flavors. And speaking of flavors, when I went in for a taste test, they asked me what I would want to try. We catered Pop Up Gelato for our son's first birthday party. The taste of the gelato is great, but service and everything else was pretty horrible. They walked up to the event and demanded a pop up tent immediately. The two people they sent must have been brand new and not trained well at all. They were not friendly or engaging. We reserved for 100 people and ended up with only 60 (you're not allowed to adjust the number of people 30 days in advance which I understand on their end but not a great experience for the customer). We paid for the full 100 (never complained about this as we understand that is in the contract we signed), but then didn't even receive the full 100 servings as leftovers (even after we asked). All in all their service alone makes me not want to ever book them again. read more

I had Pop Up Gelato at a Yelp event a couple of weeks ago (The Tee Party) and I cannot say enough how nice the guys were that helped us! They had six flavors to chose from and it was a hard, hard decision. They encouraged everyone in my group to try the different flavors and oh my goodness, they were all delicious! I appreciated that they didn't seem perturbed about people trying all of the flavors before making their choice, sometimes I feel a little greedy trying 3-4 flavors, but the guys didn't bat an eye. My favorite was the strawberry cheesecake (think of the best strawberry cheesecake you've ever had, got it? Now make it frozen, smooth, and the best ice cream EVER), the chocolate was heavenly as well. My friend had the straight strawberry sorbet and said it was fabulous and delicious. My friend had the straight strawberry sorbet and said it was fruity and refreshing (I was shocked, she is usually a choco-holic but the strawberry was THAT GOOD)! I attended a wedding yesterday where the bride and groom hired these guys to serve dessert, in place of distributing slices of cake to those guests who did not wish to eat cake. The pistachio and vanilla bean flavors were a huge favorite at my table! The generously stuffed cupfuls were perfectly melty-creamy-cold, with big flavorful chunks of chopped & blended nuts & aromatic fruits. Each came with a big toasty wedge of waffle-cone type garnish, which made the whole table smell amazing! The staff were sharply dressed, polite, and well-organized. They worked well to avoid long lines or crowd-ups. The team was great to work with, and other than their tasting location being hard to find the gelato itself was delicious. The crew that came for the wedding were great with our guests and everyone loved each of the 6 flavors we chose. There was still a lot of gelato left over when the time we hired them for was up so we asked them to stay for an additional hour and they were happy to for a very reasonable price (I think it was $100). I think the hardest part was choosing which flavors we were going to serve. They took care of working with out venue for the set up, which was the cutest cart. The servers were kind and the servings were very generous and included a little cookie. Our guests were so excited and they absolutely loved it! We even had to buy a few more servings to accommodate the fact that people wanted to try multiple flavors! As the bride and groom, we were too excited to eat much of the dinner, but when we got our ice cream it was so delicious and refreshing, I couldn't put it down! However, I would knock off 1.5 stars, because they sadly ran out. I only had one bite from someone's cup and some guests didn't get to try any either. I'm so surprised this happened, as they had instructed before the event to give them a point person to authorize serving more than what we prepaid for. This led me to believe they'd bring extra.
