My first impression via…read morethe initial correspondence was not that great (didn't seem very friendly) - as a result of that and a visit to another venue, we nearly went with that other venue, but we'd already booked a visit and decided we should make our decision with all of our options being explored. We visited the venue in late summer 2018 and fell in love with it, so we booked it. We were married this past spring and our experience couldn't have been better - Anna and our other vendors were so incredibly helpful to ensuring things ran smoothly (I see an earlier review indicates another couple's family felt they overstepped - I guess it can be taken either way, depending on who you are). The three doors in the barn's reception area were extremely useful on our big day, as there was a large amount of unexpected wind, managed by closing doors during the ceremony, cocktail hour, and parts of the reception. We felt like we were able to access a reasonable amount on the property for our event, photos, etc. We wanted to do some drone flyovers, but due to the horses, we couldn't - and that was entirely fine. It didn't ruin our wedding day - our loved ones were all present, our day was photographed beautifully, we had all the ingredients for a great party, and we had a perfect setup for what we wanted our wedding celebration to be! Words of advice - if there is a rule or regulation about something, the owners going to stand by it. It's their venue, they can manage it as they please. If you don't like the rules or time constraints, ask the owners about them, and if they're not willing to accommodate and it's a non-negotiable for you, don't book the venue. It's literally that easy. There wasn't anything we felt to be unreasonable, but that is entirely relative to us - we're pretty low maintenance people. We were fine needing to be off the property by a certain time - wedding days are long and expensive days. We had a great experience and would recommend The Barns at Maple Valley Farm - thank you, Anna and Jacob, for opening up this beautiful venue for others to enjoy!

Attending an Indian wedding ceremony at Dulany's Overlook, this review is from the perspective of a…read moreparticipant v. a bride or groom. Here's our experience. 1) Parking: Located up a long driveaway, there was enough parking for guests without it feeling cramped. 2) Space: For the Indian ceremony, we were outside in their garden. It was beautiful, but also very cold on a windy April evening. Luckily, there were blankets for guests, but it was COLD. The cocktail hour was below the barn with powerful heaters. Upstairs in the old barn was the reception. It felt a little tight for 150 guests, but not bad. 3) History: The property is on an old farm with a brick Colonial era house. The house is where the wedding party got ready for the ceremony. I couldn't find record of this easily online, but it's safe to assume the former owners of the house enslaved people pre-Civil War. It's important to note so we don't take that lightly.

The groom's getting ready area was nice and had a lot of games/activities to keep the men happy throughout the day, as us ladies got ready. We were actually quite jealous of all of the fun things they had- the bridal suite had nothing! My biggest complaint would be that the bridal suite was overrun by bugs- wasps, stink bugs, and lady bugs. The staff was friendly and did their best to remove the wasps (the only bug we cared too much about), but it was still a bit gross.

Great location, easy parking (private lot), beautiful views of campus, nestled in a small garden. The only three things renters should be aware of with the smaller chapel is, considering the age of the building, 1) sound proofing is non-existent. Every time a guest opens a door (chapel door, bathroom door, etc) you hear the open and close; 2) there really isn't much space for rollers, wheel chairs, etc in the small chapel. So for memorial services with a heavy elder load-in this may be a challenge; 3) there is no additional space for repast or informal celebration attached to the chapel so guests will have to travel for post activities. It has taken me six months to write this review because I wanted to make sure I shared our…read moreexperience thoughtfully rather than out of frustration. From the very beginning, our experience with this venue was disappointing. When we arrived for our scheduled tour, we waited approximately 20 minutes before anyone greeted us. Once someone finally came to meet us, she didn't know who we were or even the year of our wedding, despite us providing that information when scheduling the appointment. During the meeting, we explained our vision for our October 2025 wedding. We also shared that incorporating my Puerto Rican culture into our menu was extremely important to us. We were told that their caterers could "pretty much do anything" and that we would be able to customize the menu with Puerto Rican appetizers and entrées. We also informed them that we had hired our own wedding coordinator. We were assured that this would not be an issue because they regularly worked with outside vendors. The venue itself is beautiful, and that's ultimately what convinced us to book. Unfortunately, the problems started almost immediately after we paid our $1,000 deposit. When it came time to sign our contract, we were quoted a completely different price than the estimate we had received. We later learned that the consultant had mistakenly provided us with 2024 pricing instead of the 2025 pricing--even though we repeatedly stated throughout the meeting that our wedding was in October 2025. The written estimate included prices but did not indicate the year they applied to. When I brought this to the attention of the venue director, I was met with attitude rather than understanding. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, I was told I would have to pay the higher rate. It took my wedding planner stepping in and advocating on our behalf before the venue finally honored the original quoted pricing. Sadly, this set the tone for the rest of our planning experience. Throughout the year, communication was difficult. Questions often went unanswered for days, and when my coordinator reached out for information or clarification, she was frequently met with resistance rather than cooperation. One of our biggest disappointments involved the food. We specifically chose this venue because we were told the menu was highly customizable and that incorporating our culture would be easy. As planning continued, we learned that wasn't true. The only customization we were ultimately allowed was one appetizer. The flexibility that had been presented during the sales process simply wasn't available. We also encountered unnecessary difficulties because we chose not to use the venue's preferred vendors. While we had been told during the tour that outside vendors were welcomed, that did not reflect our experience during planning. On our wedding day, things did not improve. Our coordinator had to push just to gain access to the reception space so she could finish setting up in less than two hours. Throughout the day, no one from the venue checked on us, asked if we needed anything, or made us feel like valued clients. We felt like just another event rather than a couple celebrating one of the biggest days of our lives. Several of our guests were also denied drink service despite not being intoxicated, which created unnecessary confusion and frustration during the reception. At the very end of the night, the only interaction we had with venue staff was being handed a gift and told we were receiving a refund check. When I asked how much it was, I discovered the refund was for one dollar. After everything we had experienced over the previous year, that moment honestly felt insulting. The most disappointing part of this experience wasn't the pricing issue, the vendor restrictions, or even the communication problems. It was the overall feeling that our happiness as a couple simply wasn't a priority. We never felt supported, appreciated, or cared for throughout the planning process. It's unfortunate because the venue itself is beautiful. However, beautiful grounds cannot make up for poor communication, inconsistent information, and a lack of customer care. Six months later, I'm still disappointed by how we were treated. We were happy to invest thousands of dollars in our wedding here, but we never felt like we were treated with the respect and care that every couple deserves. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously so future couples have a much better experience than we did.

We believe that Milton Ridge is unique in offering an all-inclusive intimate space with comprehensive packages and fair pricing. The picturesque setting of Milton Ridge provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration. The lush gardens and elegant architecture created a romantic atmosphere that perfectly complemented the joyous occasion. The venue's versatility allowed for a seamless transition between the fusion outdoor Nikkah ceremony and the lively reception. Both day-of coordinators (from the venue) deserve special recognition for their impeccable service. They went above and beyond by working with the decorating crew, DJ, MC, and photography crew to ensure that every detail was executed flawlessly. From the initial planning stages to the day of the event, their professionalism and dedication were evident. The catering was a highlight of the evening. The fusion menu was expertly curated by the on-site chef and offered a delightful array of dishes that pleased guests from both cultural backgrounds. The chef at Milton Ridge showcased his culinary expertise by seamlessly blending flavors and textures, creating a feast that left a lasting impression on our guests. There were some concerns with the demeanor of some of the contracted waitstaff towards some of our externally hired vendors, but I recognize that this was not necessarily in the venue staff's control. I would suggest that the venue's staff be more responsive and receptive to telephone communication, as well. Some matters can be better discussed over the phone. I believe the venue mentioned that we were the 2nd or 3rd South Asian wedding held at the venue, so we were glad to allow the venue to work with us on our wedding to gain experience and we would certainly consider hosting future events such as anniversary parties or a baby shower at Milton Ridge!
