There USED to be one of these much closer to me, but I never got a chance to try. I don't think I'd be the type to go out of my way to get a popsicle, unless I'm at an anime con and there's those ice cream trucks outside. But after talking about sweets at an off kai held at Haven City, I had a hankering for something sweet and after a quick walk around, I decided to try Popbar then and there. There was no line and the worker was super friendly and upbeat. I had no idea how it worked so she explained to me the process. You just choose a flavored popsicle (apparently they're gelato bars!), a dip (you can get a full dip or a half dip), and some toppings sprinkled on top of that dip. I knew I wanted to get the ube flavor, but wasn't so sure about what to get for the dip and toppings so I asked the worker for her suggestions, so I got half a dip of white chocolate with the waffle cone. Since it's gelato, the pop bar wasn't icy and was creamy throughout. Delicious earthy coconut-y ube flavor balanced by the sweetness of the white chocolate (half so it's not too sweet) and the waffle cones added a yummy crunchy texture too. There's a little guard at the bottom to prevent any melting onto your hand. The toppings did fling and drop everywhere so keep that in mind and like all popsicles, it gets harder to eat when you are almost down with it. They've got so many flavors, dips, and toppings it feels like building a custom popsicle in Willy Wonka's test kitchen!! After way too much internal debate, I went with the chocolate birthday cake pop, dunked in mint chocolate dip, and crowned with chopped pistachios, because if you're going in, go all the way in!!!! She was kind & answered our questions with a smile. I was hanging out with my buddy Ray Ray & we each got yummy treats. He chose the Ube gelato & I opted for the coffee. Of course I would always have food envy & wished Zi had gotten the one but that leaves room for next time. My coffee gelato was perfect, although a bit too sweet for my taste. The popsicles are always fresh and delicious, and we've tried a variety of flavors over our visits, including Ube, Mango, Dulce De Leche, Strawberry Pineapple, Hazelnut, and Pistachio--each one hits the spot. On our last visit, we tried their new Chocolate Gelato shake, which was creamy, rich, and absolutely satisfying on a hot day. They also offer samples of different flavors before you buy, which is always a nice touch. The staff is friendly and courteous, and the place is consistently clean and inviting. The first time I visited Popbar in Haven City, I ordered a caramel vanilla shake, while my mom chose a birthday cake gelato bar topped with sprinkles. The shake was absolutely delicious, and the presentation was impressively creative. My mom had no complaints either--she loved her gelato bar. When I recently returned, I found myself torn between trying the strawberry lemonade or sticking with the caramel gelato shake I already knew I loved. After a quick dinner bite at Brick Shack Pizza in Haven City Market, I wanted to get some pop. Ice cream pop that is. There is one right across the walkway from the pizza place... perfect! Popbar has an interesting concept that adds a flare to gelato. That's right... gelato ice cream in shake form with a cone and whip cream topped with toppings (sprinkles and nuts) placed above the plastic jar container. Yeah, that was a sentenceful LOL. They had some free samples placed out on the counter. I tried the coffee and caramel vanilla. The gentleman behind the bar recommended the caramel vanilla. It was very smooth in texture and taste... very gelatolicious! I ended up getting one of them with caramel vanilla. I wasn't very fond of the cone and whip cream on top because it didn't give me much WOW especially when the whip cream doesn't have much taste to it. I rather have the whip cream be inside the jar than outside. Now if they add a scoop of ice cream in the cone with the whip cream on top, that would take it up a notch! I would get this flavor again for sure. Their pops come in milk or water based. I decided to go with a water based this time around because the last few times I got milk based at other pop locations. I chose raspberry. The pop was packed with real raspberry fruit. I can taste the outside seeds and everything else that you get from a raspberry. It was solidly good. Size could be a bit thicker though IMHO. Staff was nice and friendly. Service was quite fast and quick. Prices were a bit on the higher end for the size. I've had Pop Bar once before at the Anaheim Packing House and this location is just as tasty. The menu has expanded to include ice cream, yogurt, and gelato on a stick. Plus, they have seasonal hot chocolate pops that can be stirred into hot milk on a rainy day. Pop Bar is all about customization! After choosing your preferred ice cream base, you can pick a dip: white, milk, or dark chocolate. Once your popsicle is layered with chocolate, it's time for toppings! The gentleman working the counter was incredibly kind, and offered great recommendations. I ended up choosing the Pineapple gelato, with a half white chocolate dip and waffle crisps. Yum! They only have samples of certain flavors for the gelato shakes - I tried strawberry and cereal & milk for the samples. the samples were good, I got a Cereal & Milk gelato shake and it was definitely not as good as the sample. Most likely because the sample portion is probably more appropriate for this drink. I drank about half before the flavor started to taste... chalky/pasty (strawberry may have been the better choice). I was disillusioned with the actual shake compared to the photo. They put an ice cream cone filled with whipped cream on top of the shake.. I thought it was going to be actual ice cream on the top which was disappointing. The cone on the shake isn't crunchy either so it's a pointless decoration. I could have gone without this. 2.5/5 My mom got a pistachio flavored dipped gelato. She got it with white chocolate and pistachios on top - she did not like it at all, and said the ice cream didn't taste like pistachio. Came to Haven City to eat. Enjoyed my food and headed to Pop Bar for dessert. I was offered a sample which I accepted and appreciated and ordered a cookies and cream pop to go. First red flag- the owner has the option to not tip covered by painters tape and "no tap" written on it which makes it impossible to see that you have the option not to tip. Received my Popbar and was leaving when my company had to use the restroom. I sat at the seating in front of Popbar and seen the employee, combining chocolate fudge tray with another tray and using his bare hand to wipe the excess chocolate. No gloves- just his bare hand. Needless to say I was appalled. This is a total health violation. I threw away my Popbar and don't care to return. read more
