The staff there were full of energy, sweet also helpful. I ended up gets gallon tin with 3 flavors and a small bag of popcorn. My favorite sweet one was the Oreo. The salty/savory is the cheddar bacon, cheddar ranch and for a little kick- the angry pickle. They have so many more flavors available that I can't wait to try once my tin is empty. After enjoying some cocktails at a nearby establishment, we staggered over to the Popbelly's Popcorn Shop. Well, we didn't really stagger, but I was definitely walking in an alcohol induced fog. The cocktails were for real! Anyway, Popbelly's was an unexpected treat. They had tons of gourmet flavors that they let us try in tiny little cups. I tried the crawfish, baked potato, and beer cheese. Funny thing is that I ended up with Popbelly's Crunch. When I asked the young lady who was helping me what was in it, I ordered a bag of it without tasting. I'm an old fat man. I knew that a mix of original popcorn, kettle corn, M&Ms, pretzels, with a white chocolate drizzle would be the perfect choice for me. All of us found a flavor we wanted to buy. They have several different sizes, but we all got Juniors for about $9 a piece. I wasn't back home in San Antonio for an hour before mine was all gone. It was really fresh and delicious. The workers who helped give samples, filled our orders, and took my money were all really nice. They seemed to be happy employees. Plus, the place seemed really clean and smelled like heaven. The kind folks at Popbelly's Popcorn were so helpful and made the experience of trying to choose one of their many amazing flavors comfortable and fun. The popcorn itself has a great texture and each flavor seemed thoughtfully crafted to compliment the popcorn rather than overwhelm it. After sampling 5 flavors, we liked them all so much we got a mini of each: The cotton candy flavor was both cute and yummy. The flavor wasn't overpowering like many cotton candy flavored snacks, the added crunch of the candy coating was the cincher on this one. The parmesan and garlic butter flavor had that perfect bite of parmesan tang, again not overpowering at all. The scorpion had good flavor, and despite the name was not super spicy. The extra butter flavor was exactly what I wanted it to be, salty, buttery movie theatre flavor. The pickle flavor was spot on, even my husband (who isnt much into popcorn) gave it the Ron Swanson thumbs up. Very relaxed, excellent variety, and great pricing. We also liked that there is so many more treats than popcorn available so we could stock up our snack cabinet in one go. read more

I am one mega happy lady. Before I was stationed in Germany, I had two popcorn places I loved. When I had to return, they had both gone under. I was heart broken . I've tried a place in Lockhart, Fredericksburg & Kerrville, but they weren't up to par. Well, I have finally found one that is as good as my favorite one. My goodies: For me: popcorn flavors: Monster Mash, Chicago (my absolute favorite), & the Gruene Pop (very similar to Chicago.) The Pop Rocks are mine too. For my family I got the pooping Unicorn for my son in love, smarties for my girl, & necklaces for her & her baby girl. Lastly Atomic FireBall, because I love the heat. These were some of my favorite candies when I was a girl. The ladies were an absolute delight to talk to. I did tell them I had been searching for a new popcorn place, & I believe I've found it. I only get popcorn once a quarter. Hence the three bags. That's plenty. Due to my health, popcorn is an actual no-no for me. But, like my Mom, I just love it. Stopped by and was so excited since I am a popcorn lover. Kristi was super friendly, attentive and helpful. She let me try a bunch of different flavors before I settled on a purchasing several minis. She mentioned that they stay fresh for a week + which I was surprised by. The variety of flavors is incredible. And you were able to mix the different ones, which was really fun. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the prices. I am sure it's because of the location. First off the popcorn we sampled was great tasting. I'm not sure why you have a limit on tasting. In my opinion I think that is how you get sales. But I know people could /would take advantage of it. Maybe make your sample cups smaller. (No one said anything to us I just happened to see the 3 limit sample )I am visiting from Indiana. My husband makes kettle corn and flavors for festivals, fairs and setups up every weekend at the outlet mall at home. They are a lot cheaper and very tasty. I walked in to this place just to try it on 09/04/2022.... Really good tasty popcorn but if you are black don't go in there. You will be treated like shit. there's a girl who is currently working there. She was very rude and dismissive toward me. I can't help it but to think it's because I'm black because she was a lot nicer and welcoming toward all the white people in the store except for me. It was not her choice of words; it was her tone of voice and her attitude toward me. It's difficult to describe. I'll never forget how poorly she treated me. I will never go there again for the rest of my life. I believe there's a racist staff member working there. This month's savory flavor of the month was crawfish, which sounds gross, but was absolutely delicious! It was the tangy and spiced flavor that you get with crawfish minus the fishy taste and smell. A nice addition to the Gruene specialty shop genre. We had not been to Gruene for awhile and were pleasantly surprised to find this shop. They are generous with the samples and some of the flavors are absolutely amazing. The staff is quite friendly and very accommodating. 40 or so flavors ranging from Siracha to dreamsicle and many more in between. Prices overall are very reasonable for high quality specialty popcorn like this. A very fun shop and we will definitely be back. read more

I have to say, they had a very interesting array of choices: Flamin Hot Cheeto, pickle, and other novelty flavors. My daughter chose pickle & chili powder, & I got the flamin hot Cheeto for my son. They have standard size options from mini-large with simple but cute bagging options, and they also offer various size tins with many decorative options. The shop itself is very small, but don't let that fool you because there's plenty of popcorn! The only thing I didn't particularly care for was the quality of the product, but my daughter quickly corrected me: novelty popcorn is supposed to taste different than fresh popped! I came to potbelly with some friends yesterday and it was a good experience. When we walked in, the lady at the counter immediately offered us samples of the popcorn. They had so many flavors to offer. They had strawberry cheesecake, Oreo, birthday cake (flavor of the month), blueberry cheesecake, peanut-butter and chocolate and many more. They even had a crawfish flavor! I ended up mixing up strawberry and blueberry cheesecake together. It was perfect because it wasn't really sweet and it was of course delicious.
