A fascinating concept for a business! LOTS of flavors of popcorn and a job for autistic adults. This company provides both. The store is tucked in to a little industrial park and easy to miss. There are no fancy cabinets or decorations, just popcorn. They are happy to give a sample of any of the popcorns before ordering. I walked in and one of the workers filled my popcorn bag once I ordered it. The prices are a bit high, but I love the concept of employing people who otherwise might not have a job. The popcorn is delicious! My favorite is Cookies and Cream, which has chunks of Oreos in every bite. They happily ship orders and they do fund raising gigs. Definitely worth a visit! read more

The hard working crew at the Pop For The People prepared and packaged 200 bags of popcorn for my daughter's wedding. It was a delicious and meaningful party favor. I was fortunate to taste and learn about Popcorn Peeps at the Red Bank, NJ Street Fair. Which has a brick n mortar location but they spread the word at these types of events. It's a beautiful non profit popcorn business that not just raises money for autism but puts the power into people with autism and employes them. I would say half the people at the stand were battling autism and all did a great job of bringing people in the booth area to learn and try the product. They let me sample many flavors which I must were all high quality. Really unique flavors like espresso, cookies n cream, Chicago aged cheddar(my fav). They were selling out fast so I was able to pick up a bag of the Chicago Cheddar for $6. It has a resealable zip to the bag since popcorn spoils really fast. I have a lot of respect for this cafe. Employing people with special needs who otherwise wouldn't have a job is quite admirable. The manager (or owner?) whose name is escaping me at the moment is very friendly! He explained to me that the cafe employs people with special needs when I told him it was my first time visiting. My friend brought me here and I wouldn't consider myself a huge popcorn person, but I love their popcorn. There's a wide variety of flavors and it's fresh. I appreciate that they offer samples to let you see which ones you prefer to get. My favorites are Caramel and Chocolate and Buffalo Wing. I had a hard time trying to decide which ones to get and the worker there walked me through their own personal favorites, introduced the different popcorns to me, and also explained to me the process of making the popcorn, which I thought was very cool! Not many businesses in my experience, are that personable and take the time to talk to you, especially if they don't feel like you will give them any/much business. I love the mission of the organization and although the price is a bit higher, I don't mind because I support their mission and their popcorn! I used to go to school at Rutgers but have since graduated and moved out of state. Still, every time I return to New Jersey, I make it a point to stop by and get my fix. read more

I went to The Pop In Cafe for the first time tonight on a whim since I had no idea this new place turned up within the last few weeks (coincidentally, I was pouting that the candy store was replaced by yet another jewelry store [but seriously.. for a tiny 2 hallway mall there's now 7ish jewelry stores..] just minutes before discovering The Pop In Cafe). I am a popcorn nut so of course I checked it out, plus I liked that it was something different in a mall that has a lot of repetition. I noticed the prices were not bad at all especially with unique specialty flavors..and it puts it into perspective that it is right across from the movie theater with high prices for one flavor of moderate quality. Anyway.. I went home with 2 flavors - Chicago Baked Cheddar & Caramel Apple. I am a popcorn snob and honestly have never tasted a Cheddar popcorn that is so flavorful! It seems more authentic than others, and is much stronger (in a good way). I also got Caramel Apple and it is fantastic! While I'm sad about the candy store - I think it was called Unique Treats and Sweets - this was an excellent trade off. To put the cherry on top of the top quality product, I discovered upon Googling when I got home that this store is a non-profit that employs people with disabilities such as Autism. I am a social worker so this is close to my heart and so incredible to see. I especially appreciate that I loved the product even before knowing this; in other words my taste buds were not modified because I wanted to like it due to the positive mission and contribution to social services. The popcorn is delightful on its own and as I live 5 minutes from Brunswick Square Mall I anticipate being a frequent shopper - both for my love of popcorn and to show my support for the mission. read more
