Plants were for sale in the front and payment was through Venmo or check on the honor system. There's a cottage that's open Wednesdays 9am-1pm. There are 3 Luther Burbank Establishments in Santa Rosa/Sebastopol: The Luther Burbank Home and Gardens- located in downtown Santa Rosa close to the freeway and the mall. It's very convenient to get to. This one has his old house which has tours and the gardens around. The Luther Burbank Art and Garden Center-This is more inland in Santa Rosa has a small rose and Iris garden but it's mainly a private events space.

Here is my conversation with the woman that answered the phone. I wish I had recorded it. Me: "Hi, I'm getting a notice that I owe almost $200 for an account that was settled last year. Can I please stop receiving these notices? I have a letter stating the account is settled." Operator: "Ma'am, the business hours for the billing department are 9 am to 5 pm. You will have to call back during business hours." Me: "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm in Massachusetts. What time is it now in California?" Operator: "3:58 pm." Me: "Great, then I would love to talk to the billing department." Operator: "Ma'am, they aren't available. They have irregular hours. They are usually in by 9 am." Me: "OK, 9 am until when?" Operator: "They are irregular hours." Me: "So when am I supposed to call?" Operator: "Ma'am, I can't answer that." Me: "OK, can I leave a message and my phone number so they can call me when they are in?" Operator: "Ma'am, we cannot accept messages. We don't do that. You needed to call back during business hours. They are usually here by 9 am." Me: "Great, so I can call at 9 am to speak with someone." Operator: "They are usually in at 9 am, but the hours are irregular, so they might not be." Me: "Um... ok. Grandma was truly engaged in life and interested in the things around her. A college graduate and one-time newspaper reporter, grandma read voraciously and never owned a television, she preferred to walk places so she could really experience them and made friends wherever she went because she was truly *interested* in what people had to say. Her house was lined wall-to-wall with books, books and more books...and yet the SHPL enticed her with stories and knowledge to be discovered. If you go to the SHPL you will find yourself in a well-lit space, surrounded on three sides by vineyards. And if you curl up near a window and become absorbed in a book, you will find that time passes quickly. When you leave, take a moment to ponder what you've read, and appreciate that your life is now just a little bit richer. Grandma was right, the SHPL is a wonderful library. In addition to a collection of books larger than one would expect for a town this size, you'll also find the SHPL has: - a large room dedicated to children's material - another smaller room of picture books for young kids - an extensive selection of VHS format videos (which Peter's Video no longer carries)...and DVDs too - free wi-fi for your laptop...and a number of PC terminals for easy yelping - the Napa Valley Wine Library collection - movie nights - an art gallery wall - friendly, helpful librarians A five-star library experience and a nice way to spend a SH afternoon. We had vintage cars in ceremony, the owner Ethel was beyond warm and opens her home for bride to get ready. We met with Ethel, the owner of the property, who showed us around the grounds. Her dog Bo joined us on the tour, and he was fun to watch. If you want an outdoor wedding, there are locations on the property to do so. You can rent a couple different arches from them for approx. $35.00 each. They also provide tables and folding chairs for an extra fee. You also would need to provide your own tablecloths, etc. If you have an outdoor reception, there is an area near the house to do so. There are even lights strung up already around the trees, and hook ups for electrical items. There is a barn to the left of the property. On the way to the barn, we passed the building that has 2 restrooms inside. ((modern out-house)). I loved the barn! The barn is pretty big and even has a loft. You can have your ceremony in the rear of the barn and have the reception inside the barn. The cost for an outside ceremony near the house is $1,500. The use of the barn is $2,500. If you choose to have your ceremony in the back of the barn it is $500 + $2,500 for the barn, for $3,000 total. Also, you are required to pay $20 per each security guard. For a smaller wedding or reception, you may only need to have one. There is also someone available to help direct the vehicles on where to park. ((and there is plenty of parking)). Unfortunately, this location was over our budget, as the price does not include other items..such as the food and any alcohol, etc. There are even bells in a tower that can be rung for your ceremony. This location can also be used for other gatherings and celebrations. Ethel is very sweet and welcomed us inside her home as well. She will respond to you promptly via email if you email her. Consider her property if you need a nice outdoor or indoor place.

This was my first time going into this library. I have driven past it and walked past it almost…read moreevery day I never really thought to go in. I went in and started looking at the books and all that they have to offer. It's quite expensive. They also have video games and movies and CDs for checking out for up to three weeks and even then you can renew the book or city or video game and the best part is there are no late fees this would have been great when I was a kid. I always loved reading and re-reading my books and ended up having to pay late fees which my parents were not too happy about, but anyway, that has changed now, which is great at the entrance. There are books up for sale as well as puzzles and movies and all for no more than three dollars from what I saw. I did end up buying some puzzles because I love puzzles. Can't get enough of them the receptionist at the front desk was so nice and helped me get my library card. I continue to browse and ended up checking out three books and three video games for my Nintendo switch. I can't wait to go back and look further into what they have to offer. Go check them out.
