It was a huge cut but he always orders pork chop and never complains unless it's over cooked. I wasn't that hungry and ordered a regular garden salad and was convinced to add an avocado which was ripe but didn't add anything to the salad. I did like the sunflower seeds in the salad. There wasn't anything else on the entree menu that appealed to me. Maybe it would've been better to order a couple of appetizers as my meal. I could have consumed the entire plate if chicken wings by myself. Bathrooms are in the rear, in a separate small building. My biggest disappointment was the cheddar biscuits. It was chewy-like, dense and arrived lukewarm. Likely reheated and the dough was probably overworked. There was no cheddar inside the biscuit but coated on the outside. It came with a few biscuits but after eating one, I couldn't eat anymore because of the texture and chewiness. The honey butter (couldn't taste any honey) didn't help either. Went there for a late dinner. Still light outside and it was nice to have a view of the busy restaurant and back and side gardens. Good service and knowledgeable staff. Sishito peppers were the started with the beet salad. Both were super fresh. Beets were cooked perfectly and generous dressing was applied! Peppers were not hot but were blistered nicely and dipping sauce was perfect for balance with acidity. We shared the special meat platter. It was ok.... Pulled pork was tough. Living in Virginia, I have not been able to sit outside when it's warm outside because of all the mosquitos, but this spot was just lovely and perfect (sans mosquitos)! I guess February isn't wine season because we didn't have any problem getting a reservation for winetasting or the restaurant. The food at the restaurant was really good. I think the execution of the dishes was just really great, the flavors were spot on, and the textures were really good. The beef tartare was really nice, the cornbread was OK, but the steak and the pork chops were so good! I found my pork chops so good that I didn't even wanna share with my husband. I packed the rest home and let me tell you, I was scraping the plate to get every last morsel of food in my to go box. My husband's steak was wonderful, and we love when steak comes with fries. The service was also really great, people were very friendly and very accommodating. So who would have thought that on a Thursday afternoon you need reservations for lunch, well you do or opt to sit in the bar area, which we did. Service is on point; folks are bringing out water, taking drink requests & making recommendations as to appetizers - take them up on any new offerings. The responses were there but the genuine hospitality was lacking. For example, clearing our plates before asking if we were done--I was still working on enjoying the last bits of my cheese so wish he didn't assume. The ribs were outstanding--tender, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The cheese plate was also thoughtfully curated and well executed, showcasing great local selections and presentation. Unfortunately, the overall experience was negatively impacted by the service. Our interaction with our server Chris N. left much to be desired, as the service felt inattentive and unwelcoming throughout the meal. Great restaurants are about more than just great food, and hospitality plays a major role in the experience. One additional observation: the overly curated "hipster" attitude and vibe felt dated and out of touch. The food stands on its own merits and doesn't need the accompanying pretension. Guests today are looking for authentic hospitality, not an image. Wow. My second review I'm leaving for Farmstead, but so well deserved. This restaurant has been such a beautiful meeting spot over the years for friends and family, and most recently so special taking our kiddo here to enjoy. We made a reservation for lunch and sat outside during the holidays. We ordered the Cheddar Biscuits to start because they are absolutely my favorite thing (and the kiddo thoroughly enjoyed). They come with a honey butter that you could just bottle right up. We also ordered the Deviled Eggs (comes with pimento cheese and crispy ham on top), and the Di Stefano Burrata (comes with a whole roasted garlic, grilled bread, olive oil, pickled veggies). See my pictures for more. This was the first time I had the burrata to start and oh my gosh, it was fantastic. My pro-tip is to spread the warm garlic on the bread first, then top with the creamy burrata, and top with a pickled veg for the final crunch. Perfection. The deviled eggs are also one of my favorite shareable items too. So much flavor in such a small bite. For our mains we did the 12 Hour Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grass-Fed Cheeseburger, and Fried Chicken plate. We definitely had our holiday feast of such fresh meat and sides, most items coming straight from their ranch. So very much so farm to table. If you explore and walk around this spot a bit more outside of just the restaurant, it also serves for a great location for larger events, wine tastings, and more. The restaurant also serves dinner, Sunday Brunch, and has a kiddo menu. We can't wait to form more memories here, and enjoyed our fun photo shoot on the property. This was for our 23rd wedding anniversary, so as a treat, I decided to invite my husband and close friends to lunch. While working in St. Helena, I could never find an opening in a reservation, so here was a great opportunity now that all of us are retired. Our friends live in Clear Lake while we live in Vallejo, so this is a central place to meet. It was the best decision I made because every year for the past several anniversaries, we've gone to Cache Creek to C2. Their food and service is excellent because my husband enjoys poker, but I thought a change of scenery would be nice. And it was! Firstly, it was very kind of the staff to present us with a greeting card signed by everyone -- how sweet and thoughtful! We will cherish that! Secondly, we were very impressed with how the food/wine was locally sourced. It was incredible to hear the story about Custom, the Bull, and taste the difference between the Highland beef compared to Angus. Our waitress was "Erica S." She was engaging, personable, and very informative. My husband and I would definitely like to return to return to experience the dinner menu! We and our guests had the following dishes: Artichoke appetizer Arbororio Biscuits & Gravy Two Cheeseburgers Three Bloody Mary's Farmstead Margarita When they found out it was our anniversary celebration, the house sent over four glasses of complimentary champagne and a dish of dessert -- again, very sweet and kind of them I now understand why so many crowds flock to this restaurant! Farmstead is an amazing restaurant in the St Helena area and gets my highest recommendation! Just to start, due to a horrific accident on the Silverado trail we were quite late for our reservation. (Reservations are always recommended; this place is popular!) We called along the way, and they were very accommodating and kept our table waiting. When we arrived, we only had about an hour to dine before our next wine tasting reservation and our waitress (my bad to forget her name) was very helpful as was her service overall. Big thanks to the concierge and staff! Farmstead is a true farm-to-table restaurant, and they farm ALL of their ingredients on a large farm up in the mountains. This makes them quite unique, even in wine country. The decor is wine country casual and we had a great table outside on a beautiful day. All of the dishes that we had were delicious. We had the deviled eggs for the table and they were some of the best I've had. The roasted beet salad was special and extremely fresh, as was the honeynut squash soup. My friend ordered the smoked chicken wings with a white sauce (quite unique) and I got to sample one. Delicious if a bit messy. We all did wines by-the-glass and they were properly served and fresh. Very open, well kept, and just inviting. Besides the restaurant, they have an open grass/garden you can stroll through with seating. We came for brunch, and the food was pretty standard brunch food. We got the classic eggs Benedict. The potatoes were really well cooked, and probably our favorite part of the meal. The smoked pork hash sounded really good on the menu, but we found the pork was disappointing. Some pieces were really dry while other pieces were very fatty, just pretty inconsistent and not worth the high price. After brunch, we walked over to do some wine tasting in another building and we loved it! Nice and quiet, but still getting a good, serene experience. For our last night in Napa Valley, we headed to Farmstead. We parked on a side street and it was easy enough to walk a few minutes to the restaurant. The complex is pretty massive, with a bar and what seems like endless seating options. We sat indoors and had one of the loveliest meals our trip. We started with a seasonal salad of tomato and stone fruits, with burrata and pistou. Finally! It wasn't until this meal that I realized that the various restaurants weren't really featuring the summer produce that I was expecting - heirloom tomatoes and stone fruits, and mostly just a bunch of lettuces. The plums in this salad stood out as one of the most flavorful bites. The second starter, the smoked, chicken wings, were the tastiest wing preparations we've ever tried. They were grilled, not fried, and the white BBQ sauce was exceptional. The meaty wings, were tender and juicy, and the sauce was addictive. We could have eaten several orders of these. For our entrees, we ordered the pork chops, which came with grilled peached, peppers, and cheesy grits. It was a classic combination of pork and fruit and was very good. Our other entree was the steak frites, which was an amazingly flavorful piece of aged beef, a generous pile of fries, and both homemade and spicy mayo. We ordered the grilled brocolli rabe as a side and we liked the preparation, generously seasoned with oil and salt and blasted on the grill. The kids meal was a bit of a miss for us. We ordered the kids cheeseburger, which was dry. We had the softserve for dessert (excellent) as well as the beignets with a caramel sauce. The beignets were dense so we would not order those again. Thankfully, we were celebrating a birthday, and they brought out a few chocolate chip cookies with a candle. I love thoughtful, little touches like this and so appreciate Farmstead for still celebrating milestones with their customers. We just discovered Farmstead this trip but consider it one of our top restaurants in the area. We were a group of 6 and ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The trout was a super hit as was the tri tip with chimmichuri sauce steak fries. After checking in with a friendly host, we were seated right away, which set a lovely tone for the afternoon. From start to finish, the staff was warm and welcoming. Our server in particular was wonderful--attentive without being overbearing and genuinely helpful throughout the meal. To start, we ordered a whiskey tasting flight and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, which paired perfectly with what was to come. For food, we went with the BBQ ribs and a burger, and both were fantastic. The ribs were true fall-off-the-bone--moist, tender, and seasoned just right. They had a slightly crunchy outer layer that added great texture, while the BBQ sauce was light yet still packed with flavor. The coleslaw on the side was crisp, refreshing, and a perfect complement. The burger was equally satisfying--the bun fluffy and soft, the patty thick, juicy, and cooked beautifully. Beyond the food, the ambiance was cozy and picturesque, ideal for a special occasion. Hands down one of the best farm to table meals I have ever had. Our server, Em was fantastic! Em offered us some champagne as we celebrated our anniversary and offered wonderful recommendations. We started with the di stefano burrata and heirloom tomato and nectarine salad which was a special for the day. You can never have too much burrata. Both were AMAZING! For our mains, we got the California Arborio rice which was basically a pesto risotto and the steak frites cooked medium rare. Everything we ate here was delicious. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Will definitely be back on our next trip out to Napa. read more

Years ago, we made a reservation and went here for lunch on a weekend for a quiet celebration. This charming place was full and bustling with a relaxed vibe, indoor and outdoor. The food and service was good, I love the farm-to-table concept. What I mostly want to go back to here from time to time is the excellent ambiance and setting: its comfortably down-to-earth sophistication that draws you "home" - a combination of classy decor amidst wood in a bright farmhouse setting with high ceilings. Came here for lunch on a weekend. Pretty busy but we were seated right away! Ambiance is really nice, and they get most of their produce from their cattle farm or local ranches. They also charge for sparkling water around $9. Vegetables are super fresh. We ordered: - Flank steak: suggested by our waitress but it was just okay. The steak was cooked well and their beef is from their cattle ranch. Fries were also just alright. A little on the salty side. - Cheeseburger: packed with flavor! Had a lot of acidic flavors from the pickles. Really loved the side of fries, super crispy. - beef tartare: very nicely done. Larger chunks of tartare like a French style tartare. Lots of parsley flavors and the crusty bread was very nice. - brick baked chicken: Our favorite dish by far! Chicken was very nicely cooked, the marinade and vegetables were excellent.
