I come here often as it's the best fried chicken in North America but this place is by far the worst in terms of service! The staff are super annoyed and they don't seem to even want to be there. There's that one manager that always seems to be yelling at his staff and I guess he ain't very friendly but the staff just brushes it off and it's not right! The manager is super arrogant. The food is a very long wait! We waited over 35 minutes for some fried chicken ! Why does it take forever however when it does come it's amazing I also wish they added the famous Popeys chicken sandwich like in the US! Popeyes is my "go to" for a cheat day ! They seem like they are under new management. Pro: Service was super quick for the lunch rush. I think we got our order within 5 minutes. Definitely an improvement since this location was notorious for 15-20 min waits. Cons: They didn't have any spicy wings ready so we only had the option of mild. They definitely lowered the size of their tenders. The amount of sides you get seemed to also decrease. You used to get a full container but now the containers are about half full. Prices are still pretty decent and the food is still pretty good. However, the biscuit was dry and dense this time around. $9.99 for a 3 piece tender platter (2 sides and a large drink). They have a fountain setup so free refills. Cleanliness of the restaurant could be improved. It's always a mess at the drink station. Dinner Review - Ordered the 4 Piece Platter Wow, not sure if they made the chicken fresh but it was so juicy!!! We didn't have many dry pieces at all and they were all well seasoned! No complaints about the food. Service - super slow, they were slammed for dinner so we waited around 15-20 minutes for our food to dine in. They gave 2 napkins, so we had to go back to ask for some more! We are eating chicken with our hands haha would love some more napkins next time! The major complaint was the cleanliness of the location. There was garbage on tables, tons of crumbs and greasy smudges on seats and tables. First Popeye's I have ever been to in Canada, and it is just about the same as it is in the USA, except of course, that everything costs more, but that is to be expected. My dining partner and myself both got chicken tender meals (1 platter, 1 combo) and they came out quickly and as ordered. The sides were appropriately hot (mashed potatoes, mac & cheese) and cold (coleslaw). We went around noon on a weekday and the location only had a few customers in it. Service was fast and as friendly as can be expected from a fast-food place. The store itself was fairly clean - a few tables had some crumbs and whatnot from previous customers, some of the windows were a little dirty, but there was nothing so out of place that suggested it would be unsafe to eat there. Seen the commercial on TV so many times and finally I am trying it. The place was pretty clean for a fast food place I was very surprised. Lots to choose from so it makes it pretty hard so it is better to look at the menu and choose before you make the line so you dont hold up every one behind you. Took 8 pieces of the classic chicken half mild half spicy and it comes with 4 biscuits and one large side. The combos are a bit expensive and they don't com with drinks or gravy you have to pay extra for those. The chicken was very juicy and not at all greasy. I will be going back to try a few more items off that menu. read more

The chicken is very good! The staff is equally inept. One cash for three employees to stand at, you're lucky if you get the one of the three that speaks clear English (the noise level makes it essential!) and none seem to have adequate product knowledge (When I asked what was in their "Mardi Gras Cheesecake" I was told quite seriously, "Mardi Gras". As for the chicken, very good - the spicy has a nice kick to it. The fries are ok but I always go mashed because the gravy is tasty. Ordered 16 pieces and never had fried chicken sooooo salty!! The chicken wing pieces were not as salty but you definitely need to wash it down with some pop. Definitely not enjoyable but we were hungry and it was 9:45pm. The breast pieces were not edible at all! It was 10 mins before they closed so I called them but no answer and voicemail was full. Called the next morning and was told to bring back the chicken & receipt and there would be no problem to get another 16 pieces just needed to speak with the manager. The manager Amit was just horrible and so rude. He even lectured his cashier for giving out his name to us. Terrible customer service. He said all the chicken should taste the same. Well, that's the problem it didn't. Why would we waste our time to bring it back if it tasted all right. At first, he wouldn't replace our order and threw the box of chicken we brought back into the trash and went into his office. He then came out and said he'll replace our order. Then he went and picked out the box in the trash and counted the number of chicken and said he'll only replace the 7 in the box. Such bizarre behaviour. The owner should really reconsider if having this guy as the manager would be beneficial to his business. He lost a lot of customers over 9 pieces of chicken lol. Drove 2 hrs to popeyes in ottawa on montreal road last night made a large order with a group of ppl that also had seperate orders. It was 9:30 I went out to get something from my car and and the employee refused to let me back in. I told him i have an order waiting for me he said "what do You mean" i had ri tell him mutiple times in different ways and my friend was even trying to come out the door at the same time telling the guy the orders not even done yet whats your problem. He got close to me during this blocking my way n made me feel very uncomfortable. Topper on it all is that the guy spoke to me before behind the counter to tell me I have to wait 6mins for the mild chkn so he knew i had an order waiting. Was in on Oct 31st around 4 and the staff are very RUDE. All standing around talking to each other like they are hanging out during lunch period at school. I asked to the Thursday special and was never told it didn't come with fries and a drink. Yes, I probably should of read it, but she didn't ask if I wanted to add them to the combo. Anyway, just for the staff being rude and LAZY, I wont be going back to this location. Management should really think of going in and doing a clean up. Do they just hire anyone these days. I first started going to Popeye's when I lived in the Barrie area and loved it. It was good food at a reasonable price. I was so excited when I found out it was coming to Ottawa. Even more so when I found out that this location was opening down the street from my work. I work in emergency services and it's nice to have a place to grab something quick when you forget your lunch. Plus Tim's and McDonald's gets old after a while. I went in tonight while working my 12 hour night shift. The line was short as it's Sunday around 8pm. Perfect for me, seeing as I do need to get back to work quickly. I asked for a chicken tender's meal. A very nice Asian girl told me she wasn't sure that they were still serving tenders. This made absolutely no sense to me seeing as the restaurant was to be open another 2 hours. On my insistence she asked one of the cooks if he still had tenders or could drop more. The cook responded by saying " Stop f***ing asking". It seems at least the customer a head of me had also for tenders. The poor girl was visibly upset by his comment. At this point I didn't order anything and went to Tim's to grab a sandwich for my lunch. I can not express just how repulsed I was by this experience. Not only was the cook abusive to his fellow staff member, but how does a restaurant justify removing 50% of their menu 2 hours before closing. I can understand a longer wait for the items but really, removing them all together and refusing to serve it. I didn't have time to file a complaint with the supervisor at the time as I did need to get something for lunch. I have called however and got vm with no return phone call. Really, I don't expect one. I think I'll be waiting until my next trip back to Barrie to go back to Popeye's. read more

I would have given this restaurant a negative rating if I could have. Most disgusting Popeyes around and I have been known to frequent them. Lady behind counter some how managed to screw up 2 chicken tender meals with small pop to a 3 pc platter and 3 pc combo with 1 having large pop and a small pop. Seemed more interested in talking with co-workers in their language and loudly. I tried to correct order and she just pushed ahead. at this point I should have walked out..... but.. I wanted chicken. We got the food and looked like it was left from last night or maybe last weekend. Not fresh and not what was ordered. Manager was out in restaurant doing something and came to front freaking at the staff yelling in his language. Scared the crap out of me. Waited almost 20 mins for a sandwich combo, 1 sandwich combo! Walked right up to the cash, only 1 person standing there waiting for their food but the service was so slow. It became apparent that they had no food ready to go and where in the middle cooking a large amount and that was the delay, so on one hand it means fresh food, but this is suppose to be fast food and it was not fast. I took my order to go so it was not until I had left that I saw the mess of a sandwich they had made for me. Looked as if they just threw the ingredients on the paper and wrapped it up. It was also swimming in sauce so the chicken and bun was soggy. The lettuce was also so wilted that I didn't dare try it. The only decent part of my meal was the mashed potatoes and pop. When I compare this service to the other Popeyes in town, this one is is a clear no go. Next time I will either go elsewhere or drive to another Popeyes. read more
