Came for a recent weeknight dinner with friends and enjoyed the experience. Arrived in time for a few drinks at the bar during Happy Hour and they did a nice job mixing cocktails for us. We then moved to the dining room for our meal. We started off by sharing a mixed greens salad and then an order of calamari. The squid was served battered and very crispy with a side of garlic aioli for dipping. I had my go-to Italian dish, the chicken parmesan. It was large enough for leftovers to make it home...a very hearty plate! Would look to come here again in the future, if we were in the area.

Classic authentic Italian with fresh yummy pasta! Wine selection especially their Super Tuscans were great. This was our 3rd time coming w a group and the service was impeccable. I tried the veal Marsala and substituted the risotto w the fresh linguine and ate every bit of it. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well. The bruschetta and calamari starters were good too. Oh--and the freshly made grilled Caesar salad w fresh anchovies were a treat! Great do casual or fancy night out. Every town needs an authentic Italian restaurant like this.

My husband and I pick a restaurant each week for a "date night". We spend time looking at reviews and going through the websites before we decide. Sometimes we look for a dive, sometimes a specify type of food we are craving, or we may drive an hour away for a place looks extraordinary. On Tuesday morning, after looking at their website and seeing the low lighting, the ambiance and pictures of the food, we decided to stay closer to home and try a restaurant we have passed by many times, but never tried. I made a reservation for Friday night at " Vaccaros Trattoria". WHAT A MISTAKE! We arrived at the restaurant 5 minutes before our reservation. We stepped inside and the hostess then turned us around and took us back out to the front entrance/hallway. It was lit up brighter than a superstore with stark white walls, dirty cracked concrete floor, dirty red and black door mats and windows into the parking lot (no curtains) so each time a car pulled in the headlights were annoying. Meantime the parking lot lights constantly glared through the windows. Bulbs hung from cords and the heaters overhead would turn on from time to time with a whine, as it was cold due to the constant opening and closing of the door, which was about 4 feet from our table. You won't see any pictures of this on the website.... I asked about being reseated inside and was told that the seats were assigned when you booked the reservation, so all tables were taken. So, no matter how early you arrived or when you booked, they decided where to seat you. No notification that you really weren't inside the restaurant, but in an enclose entrance and not even a classy one and no ambiance. We thought about walking out, but decided we were there and would make the best of it and try the food, maybe it was worth sitting at the worst table in the restaurant. Unfortunately, that was not the case. We both order pasta. The meatballs were very good, but the pasta was overcooked, mushy and it was either broken before cooking or it just came apart due to being overcooked. The Bolognese sauce was pasty with no sign of meat in it. Very disappointing. The tables in this area should never be reserved or at least not reserved without the customer knowing what they are getting. They should be held for walk ins only, that way the customer could accept the seating or not. The only nice thing about the restaurant was our server. We tipped her accordingly as no server should be punished because of the short slightness of an owner.

I had the spritz, which was good, but took over 30 minutes to receive even though we asked about it multiple times and everyone else at our table had received their drinks. My husband had an old fashioned which turned out to be only 5oz. The glass was not even half full. We all thought this had to be a mistake considering the cost and how poorly presented the drink was but the manager assured us that they measure properly. I think they should include this on the description because for $13, we were not expecting such a small drink. Our friends were not impressed with any of the drinks they ordered, either. My friend specifically ordered a double vodka shot in a short glass but received it in a tall glass, therefore watering down the drink. As for food, we shared the marinated feta appetizer and the charcuterie board. Both were good but the charcuterie only had one serving of meat (salami) and the rest were olives, peppers, cheese and grapes. For $19, we were expecting a little more. One of the cheeses, the largest portion, was a very spicy pepper cheese that none of us really enjoyed. The dip was very good - no complaints. We also ordered three pizzas. Our friend got the chicken pesto which he said was ok but nothing great. My husband got the short rib which he enjoyed. I did a make your own, which had literally no flavor at all. The crust was good but that was about it. I suppose that's my fault for picking the toppings but I thought it would taste better than it was. As for service - it was very slow and they were very inattentive. I wouldn't come back here or recommend it. I think as a restaurant that advertises for its drinks and pizza, both were lacking.

This place was just what I was looking for in the Akron area…read more Fresh Neapolitan pizza & fresh pastries attached to a coffee/tea shop and even a gelato shop! This is definitely a place to hang out while waiting for medical appointments, enjoy a sweet treat during a warm summer day, or meet friends for a light lunch and coffee. The food was great, the chai tea was a nice mix of spicy and sweet. My pastry was wonderfully balanced on the palate while still retaining a strong chocolate flavor. I saw some people criticizing the service as confusing, I guess that's understandable but I don't agree. When you order your drink, it comes out quickly so they most likely expect you to just wait a minute before grabbing it and your table number before going to sit down. The ladies behind the counter were nice and efficient and clear with directions regarding water and where to get the drinks and food. Like I said, I didn't have any problems with service or its directions. Not to mention they have 3 different kinds of spots to hangout and eat suiting your mood: a patio, a darker "dining room" (pictured below) and a bright gelato spot. Highly recommend! I will absolutely make this my Akron hangout spot.

It could have been better…read more I had been to Café Arnone a few years ago when we first moved to Akron and remembered it fondly, so I suggested it when meeting a friend for coffee last week. When I arrived around 1:00 pm, the café was quiet. There was no one at the counter, so I walked around to find someone and ask where to sit since the space has more of a café feel on one end and a wine-bar feel on the other. I was told to order at the counter and sit anywhere. I sat in the front area to wait for my friend. Once she arrived, we went up to order. I asked about a menu and was pointed to a sign on the counter. Since it was my first visit in a while, I asked the employee what she recommended, and she flipped the sign to a breakfast sandwich called The Sal. I ordered that. I then had to ask about beverages, as none were mentioned. I only wanted water and was directed to a carafe on the counter to serve myself. Our food came out within a few minutes. The presentation was a little disappointing. I chose the vegetable side, which turned out to be two carrot sticks and two celery sticks lying in a small puddle of water. The sandwich looked good, but when I took my first bite, it was overwhelmingly salty. I understand bacon is salty, but this tasted like an excessive amount of salt had been added. After a second bite, I brought it back to the register and asked if it could be replaced, which they did. My disappointment wasn't so much in the mistake, but in the lack of acknowledgment--there was no apology and no follow-up to ask if the replacement was better. The restaurant wasn't busy, and while I'm sure they have many regulars, the lack of greeting when I walked in and the lack of follow-up stood out to me. I did appreciate the wall of ancestors--it was a nice touch--but overall the service felt disengaged. Maybe it was an off day, or perhaps inexperience from a young staff. I may try again in the future, but this visit fell short of expectations.
