I'm here to say that the Popeyes Classic/blackened chicken wraps were hat come w pickle, lettuce, cheese and choose of mayonnaise or honey mustard which I got are fantastic. Yes, $1.00 more than the Burger Kings but so much better and fatter with the supply they put in them along with the crispy chicken used are also the tenders. I ordered through my app to get rewards and I had great service the workers to give me my order. I didn't use the drive thru as they had a long line. I also had enough rewards 1,200 to get a 5 piece tender combo for my son's dinner for free. I just want to say that the chicken tenders seemed a lot smaller than usual and if they continue up to do that they will lose customers and I won't be getting them. I went to the Windsor location to grab two $5 favorites and wanted them spicy. What stopped me cold was the condition of the chicken sitting in the warming tray. There were about seven pieces left, all dry, shriveled, and looking like they had been sitting there for hours. It honestly looked old and neglected, not fresh food anyone should be paying for. I asked the cashier when they were going to drop a new batch of chicken. I was told they wouldn't be cooking anything new until those last pieces were sold and gone. I asked again, thinking maybe I misunderstood, and was then told they didn't even have any chicken in the oil at all. I was completely stunned. Rather than cook fresh food, they were perfectly willing to let customers either accept old, dried-out chicken or walk away. That's exactly what I did! I left without ordering. I'm genuinely shocked a restaurant would rather let money walk out the door than start a fresh batch of food. I honestly feel bad for anyone who ends up ordering that chicken that looks like it's been sitting in the warmer since yesterday. Aligned with most of the reviews on the page, this fast food location is always busy with patrons coming to get their southern style chicken with the spices and flavor to match. With a drive thru and the counter, this location is always restocking on their chicken and sides, so you'll always have a fresh batch as long as you can wait for it to be cooked. That is the tricky part as if you don't come at the right time then you will have to wait. If you do come at the right time, ordering can take a second while they seem to be packing up all the orders from the drive thru or the counter. I always spring for the meals and using the app, you'll find some deals for your mood. I will always spring for a side over the biscuits as they are just fillers. Recently I was there to try their famous spicy chicken sandwich. I went on a Sunday evening, and surprisingly there was no queue. Spicy chicken sandwich was good, though not that spicy. I visited this location on 7/16/2023 at 8:40 p.m. with a friend and placed an order for 2 chicken wing combos. My friend questioned the price of the two orders and drink, because the 5 piece chicken wing dinner price wasn't listed on the store menu. The store manager couldn't explain why this item wasn't listed on the menu and became confused, then angry. I did complain that all food prices should be listed. In turn for my complaint, we were give 2 spoiled dinners that made the both of us very sick the next day. I tried calling the store to speak with the store manager/district manager regarding this matter and the phone number listed on the sale receipt kept ringing, I tried their online complaint telephone number which got me no where. I do have the left overs from the meal, that I am taking to the Health department for examination. Their customer service level is poor. Chicken was really crispy and it's the typical Popeyes you'd expect, nothing special and nothing bad to note. The place is pretty well managed and clean, lots of places to sit. A great spot for a highway rest stop for a quick bite. There are also bathrooms available for public use which is a plus if you are in a long drive. They took over an abandoned McDonalds space in a depressing strip mall (an awful Ocean State Job Lot and an empty TJ Maxx) on the Northbound side of Route 159. I went to Popeyes in Windsor which the location I frequent the most...I wanted to access the restroom so I could wash my hands before dining and found the door locked. I went to the service counter to ask for the key where an employee asked me "if I was buying something". I couldn't believe he would ask me such a question and that I would have to discuss my bathroom needs with him before he would give me the key. Windsor is a suburban town in CT...I don't see why the restrooms should be locked in the first place and in the second place I feel I shouldn't have to explain to a total stranger why I need the bathroom key and that I had to place an order and pay for it before the key was given to me. The other week I asked for mashed potatoes with no gravy (as I do not eat pork) and although I've never had an issue, they told me they can't do that and all the stuff is pre-made and can't be altered (LIES). I've complained multiple times to corporate and they have never returned any of my complaints. One time we had a large order, and even though we didn't get tenders, we spent upwards of $40 and they didn't allow us to get any dipping sauce because we didn't order tenders. Food was good but the people aren't nice. They won't even give you any sauces unless you ask for them. And even when I asked for a particular amount of sauce (because I knew I had to), they purposefully gave me less with no care in the world. They also seemed very impatient with me even though I had gone at a very slow time. Every time I crave Popeyes now I think twice because I know I'll have to deal with some really unfriendly people. I know it can be difficult working at fast food restaurants and stuff, but as someone who worked at a college dining hall for 4 years of my life, I know they can do better. I have quite a long history of dining on fast food fried chicken and have been a recent patron of the Popeye's located in Windsor. It was a little surprising that the Yelp reviews for this particular location were generally below average. I say this because the quality of the food has been consistently good each time I make a visit. When I say quality I mean the chicken is hot, crispy and the meat is tender and juicy. Based on that experience, I have to give this place 4 stars. So far there has only been one time out of many where the chicken was dry and cold. Whereas my experience with KFC is the opposite. KFC chicken cannot compare. Now, the only things that I can think of that go against this place is the location which is on the edge of a pretty run down strip mall and the other is that the drive thru is set up really weird. After you place your order you have to then turn your car to the right and do some deft maneuvering in an effort to line up your car with the pick up window without bashing your front driver side bumper against the concrete wall. Even if you make the turn perfectly you will find that you are like 4 feet away from the pick up window so you and the cashier are straining your bodies and extending the reach of your arms as far as possible without tumbling out of your car to do the money for food exchange. Other than those details I recommend this place for tasty fast food fried chicken. read more

This is the absolute worst Popeye's I've ever been to. The two times I've ordered food from this location it has taken over 25 minutes from the time I've placed my order to the time I've received my food each time. The employees seem to have a hard time estimating how long it will take for food to be done because both times their estimate of "your food should be out in 3mintues" has resulted in me standing around for another 10. I understand it can be busy but this is unacceptable for a fast food restaurant.
