5 stars for a basic seafood restaurant in a small town? Absolutely! Poppa Jimmy's knows who they are. Will they ever get recognized for former cooking? Absolutely not! They are a local seafood "joint" that provides a very good product in large portions for a very good price. I got the catfish and shrimp platter and it was served hot, quickly, and country delicious! The ambiance is sparse and clean. The servers are friendly and helpful. I hope I get to return some day! read more

Poppa Jimmy's is hidden gem in Pahokee and if you are in the area, you must stop in here for a bite to eat. The two ladies who take your order and serve the food are fabulous. I usually get the fried perch dinner which comes with the best coleslaw slaw but if you are not a seafood lover, they have an extensive menu with salads, hamburgers and other items. read more

This place makes a good catfish. I think it's one of the best catfish I have done. It was perfectly cooked and not dry. The breading was good too. I had the catfish and shrimp combo. It was good the shrimp was a good size,. It was fried. The combo came with Hush puppies fries and another side. I chosed beans. They where really good too. I specially liked the hush puppies. They where crunchy and the mix was good. The place is pretty casual. The dishes and silverware are plastic. but the price is pretty fair and the service is friendly. The food taste good. The portions are a good size. They look like they take pride in the food preparation. That's important to me. This place seems a local favorite. I got to talk to some of them and they love the place. That is one great recommendations for me. I am glad we turn in here. read more

This diner type counter service fried everything spot is exactly what you expect in the cell. There was a lovely aroma of grease in the air and on the sticky tables. The food was served in presentable, not too overwhelming proportions on a Styrofoam plate with individually wrapped cutlery. There was a desire to have a tinge of seasoning with in the food and not require so much dipping into sauces. That said, however, the sauce proportion offered was plentiful. The tables move so as to accommodate an entire baseball team, but not a marching band. This diner had the catfish and fries. The meat was succulent, the fries were ordinary and unseasoned, and the hush puppies for positively delightful! Neither one of us could finish the lemonade as it was far, far too sweet! This establishment appeared to be a very popular one for workers at the lunch rush and the service was kind and speedy. We did notice a short-staffing and phone orders took a little long to get to. So we would not run back to this place, especially considering the pricing was not attractive for the quality comparison, nor the ambience, but we would come back if we were hungry. read more

We had a good dinner here today. Have been coming to this little place for probably almost 15 years at different times. Catfish very good, the baked beans are delicious and coleslaw decent too. Would like to have had a few more shrimp in my fish & catfish combo but otherwise, not bad for a little hometown diner. read more

Poppa Jimmy cooks a mean cat fish and crab cakes. It is a small salad and a small town. It is right outside of the campground area. I was very pleased with this restaurant's Quality of food. The cashier was very simple and humble. It felt like you were in another part of the country. It was a nice change of pace. read more
