We moved to Greenville about a year ago. Our favorite stop downtown is Poppington's. We always bring visitor's to Poppington's. Salted caramel is our favorite. The owner and staff are always so friendly. The free samples are great and they rotate flavors. Katie took care of us and she was just wonderful. While we were shopping, an incredibly rude woman came rushing in, and said her husband was in the car, and she just needed to get a bag of popcorn. She was from Chicago and proceeded to tell us that Garrett's popcorn was better than Poppington's. You know what I think? I think she should go back to Chicago. Because that was just rude and Poppington's is the BEST! Stop by Poppington's next time you are downtown for the freshest and tastiest popcorn in the South. You will also get some nice hospitality thrown in for free - something they don't apparently offer in Chicago. I also love the new layout - with the counter at the back center of the store. Delicious gourmet popcorn with an unbeatable selection of flavors, with especially standout sweet varieties. As a gourmet popcorn enthusiast, I placed an online order at Poppingtons after seeing their merch at Cousins Candy shop here in San Diego. I chose 4 different flavors, and they kindly threw in two additional mini bags for me to try. My favorite was the Wowtermellon mix--the dark cherry and marshmallow flavored kernels were dynamite! The tub was colorful and the perfect snacking size. The birthday cake flavor was decadently enrobed in white chocolate and sprinkles--a bit too rich for my palate, but I'm sure it's a hit with the kiddos. Where Poppingtons fell a bit short for me was in the savory category. The dill pickle variety featured very small mini kernels, which provides less satisfying mouth feel than the mushroom kernels in the other varieties. The dill flavor was strong but short lasting and uni-dimensional--I did a taste test vs Aplenty Dill popcorn, and preferred the latter. Also, the cheese flavors in both the Chicago style and Poppington's Mix were far too muted, allowing for too much Caramel domination (more cheese please) For a more balanced experience, try the Salted Caramel--this came in a delectable freebie mini bag (thanks Poppingtons!), and was more satisfying than either of the cheesy options due to its harmonious sweet-savory notes. Overall, this is a worthwhile small business to support. The packaging is well done (eye catching, and survived a summer shipment cross country with no issues), the variety of options is excellent, and the sweet concoctions are standout. read more

I am so obsessed with their popcorn. It's pricey and takes a drive downtown but it's alwayssss worth it. Every flavor is great - the spicy dill is one of my faves (but it's definitely very spicy so you have to like spice!) and the Chicago mix - I firmly believe it's better than the famous Garrett's popcorn Chicago mix which I've had on a visit to Chicago before. I spent the day in Greenville South Carolina and found an out of this world popcorn shop in the heart of Greenville, located at 30 S.Main Street. Poppington's  Gourmet Popcorn is a little hole in the wall family owned popcorn shop that doesn't have your ordinary popcorn. Poppington's offers a wide variety of flavors like Carmel Apple, Cotton Candy, Spicy Bacon Cheddar, Birthday Cake Chocolate Carmel, and so much more. Poppington's has 3 sizes which you can purchase, small $7.99, medium $14.99, and a large $22.99. They also have available online orders, which is great if you are from out of town and want to buy some popcorn. My family order the Maple Cheddar Bacon and it was to die for, all of the flavors were evenly distributed throughout the mix and the popcorn didn't taste artificial. When we entered, the shop was very clean and the aroma of fresh popcorn roamed throughout the shop, which was delightful to smell. The staff was pleasantly friendly and offered us a ton of help, which was very nice. I really like how you are able to try a flavor before you buy it. Poppington's is open everyday of the week: Sunday: 12pm-6pm Monday: 11am-9pm Tuesday: 11am-9pm Wednesday: 11am-9pm Thursday: 11am-9pm Friday: 11am-11pm Saturday: 11am-11pm  Since Poppington's is located in main street parking can be difficult to find, but I would recommend trying to find a free parking garage, parking garage, or ventor out for a spot. Greenville is definitely a beautiful place to visit in South Carolina. Went to Poppingtons yesterday to use a gift card my son sent me. We are from Gaffeny, SC. an hour away. When we tried to enter the store, that was supposed to be open, we were turned away. We were told that because they had so many oders to fill, they closed the store.No way to run a business. Especially after I told the employee my circumstance. They are not only friendly, but also knowledgeable on all the flavors and are happy to share mini samples in helping you choose your favorites. It's hard to leave here with just one bag we took four home plus a special chocolate drizzle addition packaged. Their menu is broad with many creative flavors and even some specialty mixes that make you want to try them all. Green apple and salted caramel mixed together was one of our other favorites on the sweet side of course the Harvarti Dill Pickle was my favorite on the savory side. It's the kind of good where you keep telling yourself to put down the bag, but it's impossible because the taste is physically too delicious. I set out 3 large bowls of various flavors for a party of ~10 people and it was completely gone within the first hour. People came up to me and were like "okay.. what's the deal with this popcorn?" I found out about this place from a friend who visited the store and brought back the Chicago Mix for me because she knows it's one of my favorites. Popcorn is by far my favorite snack! I was impressed with the taste of the popcorn; it was exceptionally fresh. The cheese popcorn in the Chicago Mix actually tasted and felt like it was coated with cheese. I wish there was a bit more caramel popcorn in the mix, but was still happy with it. I recently ordered from their website some more Chicago Mix, Sriracha, and Salt and Vinegar. The website was very easy to navigate and they had different shipping prices/days available. Tracking was also available on the package. My popcorn came in about 3 days, and they even included a free sample of Maple Caramel! I ordered the Salt and Vinegar popcorn after a friend of mine recommended it. You talking about some good popcorn! The flavor perfectly mirrored that of salt and vinegar chips. I couldn't think of a more deserving company to leave my first ever review with than Poppington's Popcorn. I've been a frequent flyer here for quite some time. The staff are so passionate about what they do, they will walk anyone through the menu no matter how long it takes (sorry.. I HAVE to try everything), and they do it with a smile. I don't know how anyone could walk by the store without "Popping" in [see what I did there;) ].. I mean the smell of fresh Havarti Dill or any of their numerous Kettle Corns just draws you in like iron to a magnet. There may be flavors that aren't your favorite (I'm not a grape guy, never have been, sorry not sorry), I assure you with their expansive menu you will find a flavor you will LOVE. I've been following their Instagram and I love how they are always taking customers' ideas and developing new flavors. Unlike most big box names or other popcorn companies I've tried, they elicit feedback and seek to improve. A great little mom and pop shop right on Main Street in Greenville. The owners, Bob and Rose I believe(?), are so welcoming! They make everything themselves and run the shop. They helped us pick a gift for my sister after she spent the night with our pets so we could travel. They have so many different options/flavors available. Awesome place. We walked around downtown the previous night and noticed a couple popcorn places and decided to come back the next day and try some. Poppingtons happened to be on our way the next afternoon so we stopped in and were not disappointed. When we got there we were the only ones there so we got to chat for a bit. We sampled half a dozen flavor sand loved them all. Ended up buying three big bags of popcorn for ourselves and to take to some friends. So many great flavors, we didn't get to try them all but look forward to next time. Love this place! I've been going here since it opened and make sure to visit whenever I'm in Greenville. They have so many delicious flavors of popcorn. I've even had friends who don't normally like popcorn end up liking Poppingtons popcorn! I can't say enough nice things. I always get the white cheddar mixed with the jalapeño popper. After the third person passing us with these bags, we decided then and there to try this place out. Poppington's has a ton of flavors to select from, which made the process of choosing one difficult! So many yummy sounding flavors! Finally we decided on the Salted Caramel flavor and was not disappointed. Extremely tasty! The only things I wished were different from our experience would be the price and employee interaction. We bought a small pack of popcorn, which I thought was slightly expensive at around $6+. I really wanted to love this place, because I love popcorn. I asked some questions to the lady behind the counter about certain flavors and every answer was, "I don't know."
