Note: I am a crab cake connoisseur. I eat them all over the country and here is my opinion based on…read moremy tastes and experiences (I travel the country and try to find local places like this to try... I've eaten crab cakes all over including several famous MD crab cakes and I work at a fresh seafood market where we make our own crab cakes. So when I say I know my crab cakes.... I know my crab cakes. Talk of the mountain: this is a super cute and friendly small restaurant located on Main Street. It is very local friendly and the kind of place the staff/owners would know your name and your regular order. I LOVE that. The staff are warm and inviting. You can watch them breading your food and chat with them as you eat. I loved watching. We got the crab cake with fried oysters and shrimp plate with Mac n cheese and fries and hush puppies and another fried shrimp plate with their slaw. It was pretty pricey but we expected that when buying quality seafood. The fried shrimp were absolutely incredible as were the fried oysters (minus the pearl my son found in the one he ate... but again not too much of a surprise). The taste was great, the cook time was perfect, they were delicious! The fries were seasoned and tasty as were the hush puppies (nothing to scream about but definitely good!) the slaw was good (according to my son... I'm not a slaw person). The Mac n cheese was definitely different but not exactly mind blowing. I felt indifferent I didn't love it and feel like I needed it tomorrow, but it wasn't bad. I honestly didn't have an opinion either way on it but I did eat it. The crab cake. The good: this was literally packed with crab meat. Obviously we seek out places that Jam Pack their crab cakes with actual pieces of quality lump crab. Talk of the Mountain certainly does this.... In my opinion to the extreme. When they say zero fillers, they MEAN IT. So does zero fillers make a good crab cake? In my opinion not this way. It was not my cup of tea and I love crab and crab cakes (obviously). It seemed like their formula for the binder was a mustard based concoction and then it was solid crab. The flavor left a lot to be desired and it didn't feel like eating crab cake because there was no filler at all. Making crab cakes is such a delicate balance, a true art in my opinion and while TOTM most definitely is serious about ensuring you taste the crab in their "cakes" the end result was more of a pile of lump crab with a sauce. All that being said I would absolutely eat there again. They were fabulous and I truly applaud their style. This is just my personal perspective from the one visit. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Rating: my knee jerk is to give this a 4 because I really am not a fan of the Crabcake and would not order it again, however everything else and the people were 10 stars so I feel like a 5 star rating is deserved. If they ever modified their recipe I would try it again happily AND will def eat there again. The shrimp and oyster was phenomenal.

Delightful dinner tonight! Today, I finally decided we had to try it out. So so glad we did because we were really impressed. The price is right, the portions are plentiful, and the quality was great. We started with some wine and Italian beer! We had the exact same brand in Venice. We ordered the mussel appetizer and it paired delightfully with my Sauvignon blanc. Our entrees were perfect. The vodka pasta was gone almost as fast as it hit the table and my husband loved his pizza. He asked for the burrata on top, just like we had it in Rome. The dessert was delish and the affogato was splendid! I cannot wait to return!

The dining area is very rustic and old world Italian like nonna's apartment in Brooklyn NY. The food is outstanding! I had the bucatini with guanciale and I couldn't stop eating! The fresh pasta is phenomenal and coupled with the crispy bread it was just fantastic. My girlfriend had the fettuccini in mushroom cream sauce and I tried it and found that dish so flavorful I wanted to eat her dinner too. We stumbled on this place rolling in late and were treated like family. This one is a must visit in Front Royal.

Overall the platter was filled with the tasty bites. The fried tofu was the only thing that definitely needed sauce to add any sort of flavor. We also ordered additional crunchy rolls to take home. I ordered the Tom Ka again because it is an amazing soup, again it did not disappoint. Main dishes. She ordered the Crispy duck this time because of my experience the last time. Well...the basil was a bit soggy, the duck was soggy and not at all crispy. She also ordered it three spice which I thought took away from a lot of the flavor. I was going to order the whole Cod but they did not have any on hand so I went with the Thai crab omelette. What a great choice. How they pack so many flavors into the food is beyond me, yes the textures are kind of the same all the way through but even the rice tasted great. If you want to add different levels of heat, ask for the spice tray. The dried spices kind of blew my head off so I stuck with the pickled jalapeño and red pepper spices. They also had a drink special that she had and if you spent over $50 you received a free valentine dessert. Strawberry cheesecake. The drink was made with sweet fresh mango and the cheese cake was well made, creamy and a delightful finish to the meal.
