I was visiting family when my Suburu's exhaust finally bit it! My family's mechanic couldn't get me in. My boyfriend usually does the work on our cars but he was away on business. I told him what was going on and he found Pop's online and called. He is doesn't usually like dealing with repair shops but over the phone he spoke to Jay who was very knowledgeable and explained some options over the phone. Not only did Pop's get me in without an appointment, they put my car up immediately and called me in to look at the issues and explain the various options to me. Now I am fairly knowledgeable about cars, at least enough to know when I'm getting hosed. These guys did not talk to me like and idiot or worse a girl!!! Bonus points for them! I can't say enough about this place! I originally called the Manchester location and was greeted with a very pleasant gentleman. He directed me to the Wethersfield location where I spoke with Jay he was very professional and understanding about what was going on. I took it to have it looked at and he gave me an amazing price, versus the dealers 2500 dollar price tag! He got me in super fast and had me running smooth again. I'm reserving a fifth star because of a little bit of doubt cast on this situation. I came for what should have been an $80 pipe... a friend installed a direct-fit catalytic converter for me, but he and I both knew a pro would be needed to weld in a 2-foot length of regular pipe to finish the connection to the back of the exhaust. But then I was told by Pop's that the cat itself was installed incorrectly. That the three bolts holding the cat to the exhaust manifold were cross threaded, and there was a missing gasket between the cat and manifold. No idea how it could have shaken out... So, my bill was $230. Bolts had to be cut, new nuts and bolts had to be inserted, new gasket of course. $80 for the aforementioned pipe, $150 for the unexpected but more complex repair. When I told my friend about the cross-threaded nuts on the cat, he got downright angry. He said there was no way they could have been cross threaded, since they were put on by hand. So I don't know who to believe. I sincerely doubt there was any meddling... this place has a high reputation of good service and reasonable prices. And despite the unexpected extra repairs, $244 (after tax) was not a horrible hit to the wallet. But I also want to believe my friend. I'm just glad everything works now. read more

One of our vehicles needed its exhaust repaired and this business had just moved in next door and I thought that I would give them a try. I am glad that I did because not only were they able to repair the exhaust on the car, it only took half a day to do so. The timing was great, I dropped off the car in the morning and it was ready by lunch. It sounded like a brand new car after I picked it up. This was an inexpensive repair and they also fixed the codes on the engine, which was very helpful. Staff are very friendly and communicated everything to me over the phone and again when I picked up the car. I made an appointment but they would have taken me on the same day. They also offer oil change services and brake work. I've had the pleasure of dealing with both the Mancheter & Wethersfield locations, and i can not say enough good things about these guys. They're fast, they're professional, they're knowledgeable, and they are REASONABLE!! They are the Anti-Garage. I had the best experience at Pop's and would recommend them to anyone and everyone. I was having issues with my exhaust so went to get an estimate from the dealer who was much more interested in trying to sell me a new car than giving me a "real" estimate to fix mine. When I finally did get the estimate it was so over inflated it was ridiculous. He proceeded to give me a huge list of things that were wrong and an estimate of thousands of dollars to fix it all. Knowing that I really haven't had to spend any money on this car and it was paid off, I wasn't about to get into another huge debt so I asked for my keys back and left. On my way out I called Pop's as it was recommended to me. I spoke to Jay and he told me that they were closing at 3:00 and he couldn't promise that he'd be able to fix it but he would definitely take a look at it. I headed right over. I walked in and he took my keys and put it right up on the lift. While I was waiting, I noticed how nice the shop was. Sparkling clean, smelled good and had some really nice touches. A working soda machine from the 70's was a great accent. After about 15 minutes, Jay came back and explained the problem to me. He walked over to the wall that had parts on display and pointed out what the problem was. He told me that he could get it done within a half hour and the whole thing came to $190! A bit of a difference than the almost $2000 that the dealership tried to charge me! My car was completely fixed and paid for in just 45 minutes from when I pulled in. I was treated with respect and kindness. I would and will recommend Pop's to everyone. I can't say enough about my experience there. read more

When I hear the noise, I went to dealer to check the car, They told me that my exhaust system is leaking and rusting, and I should replace the whole exhaust system around 800 bucks. Then I went to the pop exhaust, and they just told me that only a part of the exhaust system is leaking. They suggested me that just replacing that part, and they complete the work in half hour with reasonable price, I thought that I will be there next time if I have the problem. I love! when I first got my car I had no idea why it ran with a "sound" took my 03' Passat down there, left it for them to take a good look at.. the manager (I forgot his name) called me and told me what was needed: 1. flex pipe 2. midpipe & I added an oil change... guess what? I paid $220!!! ( oil change was 20$ , work was 200$) I was like WHAT? when can you do it? Lol that's the cheapest bill I've EVER gotten for my VW! We had an exhaust leak on our '03 Honda Odyssey and it needed a new catalytic converter as it was also rotting out. The dealer quoted me $1700+ for a new exhaust system. I stopped by Pop's in Wethersfield and had them check it out. They fixed the pipes and installed a new catalytic converter for about a fifth of the price the dealer wanted to solve the same problem. Was driving on the highway and heard an odd noise. Got off the exit, it stopped. Drove through Panera, it started up again. Headed back for the highway, it made a loud clunking noise, and I was right by the shop, so I pulled in. Told them what was going on, they immediately listened to it, and then threw it up on the lift. Then they came after only a few minutes and told me it was something to do with the calipers, but they don't work on BMW's so they couldn't fix it. Charged me NOTHING, and then told me to take it to Tony's imported cars in Manchester, up the road a ways. So helpful and nice. read more
