She measured my desired length & gave me tips. 2 weeks later have not received any call if it was ready. Mind you, it's probably a 3-4 inch cut & sew.. so I called them in & they said "it's been ready" . I picked up it , and my beige bag was in displayed on the shelves, picked it with dust & dirt. Was totally disappointed . I took my leather Coach purse in to have the inside lining cleaned. Pop's himself said h could clean it but it might not take 100% of the stains out. He said it would be ready within 2 weeks and he'd call when it was ready. He charged my credit card $65 that day. Two weeks later no call. Three weeks later I call and it's not ready. Fast forward six weeks and it's ready. I go in to pick it up and it looks the same as the day I dropped off. Plus now the thread around the zipper is torn. The didn't refund my card. He said "Well I guess I could try cleaning it a little better". I said "no thanks! You've already had my purse for six weeks and it looks worse than when I brought it in". I needed my Coach soles repaired. When the repairs were done we noticed the soles were completely totally different colors. The man said he didn't understand why they were different colors because the leather came from the same bin. If we noticed this just by looking at them for a few seconds, then he most definitely should have noticed it first and corrected it before returning the shoes to us. He said to bring them back in and he would correct it. Now, just got them back and they are exactly how they were the first time he "repaired" them. I paid more than $100.00 for this so called repair. My shoes no longer have the same quality or value because he ruined them. We already decided we will never go back to this shop. When I was dissatisfied with the lack of communication about my shoes being late and commented on the poor quality of work on my shoes, Jason, the manager replied with "That's nice, that will be $98." I told him I thought that was bad customer service, he told me, "Well, why don't you tell all your friends not to come here then." What?? I will not be using their services any more. I have taken a pair of shoes here to replace the heels, and I have been going to Eco Friendly Dry Cleaning for a couple years, and this isn't the way to treat your customers. My shoes have glue stains all over them and the materials used to repair them were not good quality. This was my first use of Pops. I have a pair of Cole Hahn dress shoes with failing soles. To buy equivalent new shoes would cost me $400. I was a bit nervous but let Walt do the repair. I had a floor lamp base that needed to be repaired and was charged $45. When I picked up my floor lamp, I saw that the base was still crumbling. I was told to just put glue on it. I had 2 luxury items repaired for $200. One of the 2 items was just making a new leather tab for a strap and the other was a wallet repair. When I went to pick up my items the wallet was missing. When I got home I found it inside a pocket of the bag I had repaired but it had not been repaired so I brought it back. New leather was added to cover up worn out fabric. When I went to pick it up it literally looked like a 5 yr old stitched it. It was so uneven I requested to have it resewn. When I picked it up the 2nd time it looked pretty much the same with the exception of 2 stitches. I was told that was the best that could be done based on the location of the repair and if I had higher expectations then they couldn't help me. Rude! If they knew it would not be quality work why didn't they tell me that before I paid to have it repaired. My luxury wallet is now worthless and I'm out $100. I would have been better off leaving it in the condition it was in. read more

He offered her a warranty but when she called for him to come back he told her to find someone else because her call was at an inconvenient time for him. Real mature. I am EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. The only think that sucks is Mr. POP! I took my HOOVER Filter Plus vacuum in. I really like my vacuum. It had an amazing suction power. It's been a 1 1/2 years since I purchased it. I thought it would be more cost effective to have a tuneup. I do keep my vacuum clean. I take the filter out and dump the debris, take hairs out of the brush as much as I can, and keep the exterior clean. Mr. Pop said he would have it running like new. He charged me $100 upfront. I felt uncomfortable paying prior to the service been performed. I trusted he would take care it for that price. Well, the vacuum has zero suction. All he did was clean the brush and filter more. I could have purchased a new vacuum for $100 or a bit more. He said I would get a call once it's ready for pick up. I didn't get a call. One week later I went to the shop. He tried to sell me what he called the best German vacuum for over $500. Which I declined. When I picked up my vacuum I wanted to see that it was indeed fixed. He didn't want to test it in front of me. He left and went to his back room shop. NEVER again will I return to this overly priced and below mediocre shop. read more

Normally, I would not leave such an angry review, but the customer service provided by the owner was completely non existent. I brought my name brand vacuum here for annual maintenance. It was bad enough that they charged me in advance for the service but when the vacuum was returned to me and I brought it back home, I opened it up to make sure the bag and filter were seated properly before i went to use it. I discovered that the bag and filters were generic, not brand. This could BREAK THE VACUUM AND VOIDS THE WARRANTY and they should know that. It is borderline sketchy that they don't tell you upfront that they will be using generic product which certainly wasn't priced as generic. When I called them to tell them of the problem, the owner was not at all apologetic and instead was argumentative - talking about supply chain issues......Ukraine....etc. While the owner, did say that he would refund me the cost of the vacuum bag and filter (which i found at another vacuum shop in Ventura for less than what Pop was charging), he definitely let it be known that he was unhappy with that outcome. I returned to Pops today to return the bag and filter and did get the refund. But Pop was outright surly about it and said "I have 3000 happy customers and one unhappy one" and proceeded to tell me I was not allowed to come to his shop anymore. That is absolutely fine with me. Pop, I am sorry to tell you this, but you have many unhappy customers on Yelp and in the community. If i could give him negative stars I would. I went here because it was closer to me. I will gladly drive to Wyoming then ever give this Pop my business. read more

Unfortunately, I had 3 bad experiences with the sewing machine repair guy.. (I believe his name was Miguel) Ive been taking my Singer sewing machine in over the last three years... Three times! Spending a total of $300-$400. The machine would work for the first small project and then the tension would become a problem all over again. I was ready to dump my machine and get a new one but old singers are really nice machines. Finally, I took my Singer to repair man in Goleta. I found out from this new repair man that the parts that were replaced by Miguel were not made for Singer and were put in incorrectly and in several different places in the machine, and/or missing! Mr. CUBBAGE has the old parts to show me. Mr.CUBBAGE stated that the machine was so bad he thought that Miguel may have sabotaged me. Miguel couldn't even put my new LED light in correctly. I called "Pops" and respectfully told him my story. He replied "we've had over 700 happy sewing machine customers" and he hung up the phone on me after I told him I didn't believe him. These customers probably went out and bought new machines! I am going to send him my new repair bill of $157 in hopes that he will refund me. Haha. It's not so much about the money but more about the quality of service and being a good businessman. It's better than being In small claims court! Sorry Pops ... I was delighted to discover this great fix it shop but will not go there anymore. THE GUY BEHIND THE COUNTER DIDN'T WEAR A MASK!! He was with another customer when I arrived and both were in close proximity - BOTH WITHOUT MASKS and talking to each other. I stood and waited in the corner (wearing my mask). When the other customer left the store the man behind the counter asked if he could help me and I had to ask him to please wear a mask. In a disposable world, Pops is one of the few places you can go to make something new again. Well, almost new. I've had a pair of Allen Edmonds shoes for over 7 years. They are my favorite pair of wing tips and I used them almost every day of the week. My constant use takes a toll on the sole and heels which I replace about every 9 months. Pops is my go to place for such work. It's really the only place I'd trust for such work. They are professional, friendly and get the job done for a reason able price. New heels and a polish cost less than 10 dollars. Sometimes, I drop them off just for a polish, which cost less than 5 dollars! There is a reason my shoes have lasted this long and are still going strong...it's a well made shoe but without Pops, I'm sure I'd have a more difficult time maintaining them. They can do anything for most types of shoes and have other services including repairing vacuum cleaners, knife sharpening and perhaps others items. I went in with a broken vacuum cleaner and he was honest with me about it amd it wasn't worth repairing and recommended a better one. I stopped by to see about one shoe being repaired, nothing major in my opinion. Hopefully some glue and it would be back to normal. I was quoted $20 for glue (both straps since the other side was coming loose) with no guarantees. I paid about that much for the shoes five years ago. I was told it was a quality shoe, excellent leather. I knew it wasn't leather as it is clearly marked under the strap synthetic upper. At drop off his v nice son said it was a minor and inexpensive repair-- replace a metal brad on a tab which held the handle. Pop called several days later wanting to replace the leather on four different areas of the bag. wouldn't quote price and refused to do the fix we requested. Said he has been doing this for 60 years and "I will not do anything that isn't done my way." when we asked questions about why this was necessary or to send us a photo of all the leather areas he claimed now had to be replaced, he got v indignant and then said he was shipping everything back to Santa Barbara (including a shoe that only needed a heel cap). I thought that seemed like a lot but when I picked the shoes up today I was very disappointed to see glue residue sloppily smeared all over one pair and the other pair with only half the job done. 2 weeks ago, I'd noticed my fairly new Uggs were coming undone at the seam. I did my homework and yelped boot repair and found Pop's. Took them in and was greated by Walter ( the owner ) I showed him the small area that needed mending. He was quick to assure me that this was an easy fix, they do this all the time. Feeling reassured I said okay, he even talked me into scotch guarding them as they were still pretty new. 4 days later I get a call that they are done. I pick them up and noticed that the stitching Job was a different color than the boot. But as long as it kept the small hole from getting bigger I was happy. I didn't actually wear them until New year's eve, it wasn't until I got home and noticed that the stitching Job had stretched out an even Bigger hole! ! I took my boots back in there today and was greeted by Omberto ( the guy who actually worked on my uggs ) He apologized for the condition of the boots. He said the material was hard to work on, but he would patch it for me at no charge. I didn't want some big ugly patch, so I told him I'd be back. I went and purchased some cute little patches and returned. This time I was Greated by Walter, i told him of my earlier visit and conversation with Omberto. He called him out and this is where things get confusing. I showed him the patches and he agrees to apply them. ....as he was writing up the ticket, he tells me it's going to cost $12. Huh?? I asked why he's charging me, he told me just a couple hrs ago it would be free. As Walter sits behind him in silence, i tell him no thanks and left in disbelief! Walter, if you knew this was not an easy repair why did you take the job?! You charged me $30 to RUIN a $200 pair of Uggs! Shame on you sir! I will tell my friends and family that I was swindled!
